Introduction

Welcome to my third Smite God Guide, featuring Cupid, The God of Love.

I aim to deliver basic, yet informative guides to the way I play certain Gods.

This is only one way to play Cupid, make sure to test out your own builds and spell orders. Also make sure to check out my YouTube channel for already made Smite Video Guides to see how I play the gods personally. Click Here For Video Guides...
Cupid can be seriously cute yet dangerous in the hands of the right person. He can be very effective when playing Mid lane. Although, he can be put to better use when played in the Duo lane. He has a stun and a (possible) never ending amount of healing, allowing him to play very well with a lane partner, pretty much any lane partner.

Pros / Cons

Pros

  • Crazy high early game damage with Heart Bomb
  • AD carry with a stun
  • Works well with numerous lane compositions
  • Great escapability
  • Stupidly good sustain for both you and your lane partner
  • Can play 3 different roles, and well!

Cons

  • Can be mana hungry if Share The Love isn't used effectively
  • Squishy if played carelessly

Items

Cupids strong point truly is he's stun and charm, these need to be taken advantage off. To do this I found it best to build high Attack Speed and Physical Power. Early game Physical Damage really helps when playing Cupid Due to Heart Bomb being so powerful and your most useful skill.

To achieve the best out of Cupid, items like Deathbringer and Titan's Bane are the ideal choice. The early Physcial Damage from Deathbringer will majorly increase both Auto-Hit and Skill damage whilst the Physical Penetration from The Executioner will ensure all of this damage isn't resisted.

Healing Potion

Purchasing 5 Healing Potions will be enough to last and seriously help your early game sustain, allowing you more opportunities for kills and helping you push the tower you so hopelessly desire to crumble.

Meditation

This item depends on your play style, take it if you feel like you are constantly out of mana. It is also great to take to allow spell spamming. Constantly harassing the enemy with Heart Bomb will ensure they will be on low health, if a fight occurs you will have the upper hand. As well as this you will also be able to use Share The Love without having to worry about mana issues. This item is also essential if you are taking the Support Role, being able to stay in lane longer than your laning partner and being able to supply them with constant Healing is essential.

Warrior Tabi

These boots are needed when playing Cupid in either the AD Carry or Support Role. They offer Movement Speed, Attack Speed and Physical Power, perfect.

Deathbringer

Another item which can really increase the effectiveness of Cupid's Heart Bomb. This item offers great Physical Power which aids all of your abilities, including Share The Love which is why this item should still be brought when playing as a support.

Titan's Bane

In my opinion, a great idea for early game domination. After building Deathbringer, Titans Bane allows you to deal truly high damage regardless of the enemies laning composition. Often people build some form of Physical Resist or send a tank in the Duo lane (right lane) when playing against Cupid purely because of his crazily high early game damage. Titans Bane really counters this.

The Executioner

An alternative to Titans Bane as it gives Attack Speed as well as Physical Penetration. You also don't have to worry about the 3 hits because you'll be able to easily lay of three hits whilst they are stunned.

Qin's Blades

Qin's Blades has some essential Stats, Physical Power, Attack speed and Health. But it also has a great passive, a 30% chance of inflicting 10% of an enemies Health. In theory you should deal 10% at least every 3/4 hits, but this is just the effect alone, the Critical Hits from Deathbringer will also be taking effect and the Attack Speed from many of the items will speed this whole process of kickass up.

Soul Eater

This item grants 10% Attack Speed, 15% Physical Lifesteal and 300 Health. Not only is it great late game but its also amazing early game when using it in the support build. The only depleating pool will be your allies mana, you can heal him, you can regain mana and you can Lifesteal your health back. ULTIMATE SUSTAIN!

Heartseeker

Heartseeker is a great item as people often forget that you do need some Physical Power and its not that hard to stack. When playing Mid Lane this item is ideal as you get all of the minion kills and enable you to stack it very quickly.

Essential Abilities

Meditation

This is needed when playing in the Mid Lane or as a Support. In mid lane there is nothing worse than just letting the enemy push your tower with you not being there, Meditation can really save and win you the whole laning phase.

Creeping Curse

This is needed when playing as an AD Carry. It gives all the chase potential as a Frostbound Hammer but freeing you up a spot for more damage dealing items like a Heartseeker. It is also very cheap and has a very low cooldown.

Skills

Lovestruck (Passive)

Every hit with a basic attack gives Cupid a 3% buff to the damage or healing of his next ability. This can be stacked up to 10 times. Upon reaching 10 stacks, the next Heart Bomb or Fields of Love will stun enemies for 1 second when they explode.
  • Make sure not to forget about this! This passive is simply awesome and effectively using it can be the difference between life and death.
  • Before entering a fight in the early game, take advantage of what is at your disposal... endless minions for you to gain stacks on. Try to reach 10 stacks of Lovestruck before entering a fight because a stun can really hinder the enemy.

Heart Bomb

Cupid fires an arrow that overwhelms the target with love, initially causing 50/80/110/140/170 (+60% of your physical power) physical damage and slowing them by 25%. After 3s, the target's heart explodes, dealing the same damage again to the target and all enemies within a 20 ft radius.

Cost: 70/75/80/85/90 mana.

Cooldown: 12 seconds
  • Heart Bomb will be your initiating and poking ability.
  • When playing in the Duo lane as an AD Carry, save this for a fight, It uses a lot of mana and without Meditation you'll soon find your mana pool depleting. Also try and save it for when you have 10 stacks of Lovestruck to make use of the stun.
  • When playing in the Duo lane as a Support save this for any fights that start. You don't want to using it for poking as you'll loose mana and you need mana for Share The Love. Unless however, you are playing with someone that picks up all of your hearts thus giving you endless streams of mana, in which case feel free to spam Heart Bomb. Your Stun is also very helpful for any lane composition and combined with another stun like Anhur/ Artemis, you'll be able to pin down and destroy the enemy.
  • When playing in the Mid lane use Heart Bomb to poke the enemy and initiate fights. You'll have Meditation to use so dont worry about mana issues.

Share The Love

Cupid places 3 floating hearts at his ground target location that heal himself or allied gods for 30/50/70/90/110 (+40% of your physical power) when picked up. Cupid regens 30 mana for each heart that is picked up by an ally. The hearts persist for 8 seconds.

Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 mana.

Cooldown: 14 seconds
  • When playing as an AD Carry try to use this only when needed and you can ensure your lane partner will pick up all of the hearts. This is becuase you don't want to run out of mana due to us avoiding taking Meditation and buying a second mark in Warrior Tabi instead.
  • When playing as a Support this ability will be your best friend. When playing by yourself only really use it when the lane partner needs health as they will pick up all of the hearts and regain you some mana. When playing with a friend feel free to spam-a-lam. You can communicate better with your friend and therefore have them pick up all of your hearts, allowing them to be at full health and you being at full mana.

Flutter

Cupid flutters quickly forward, leaving a trail behind him for 6 seconds that increases all allies movement speed by 35%. Cupid also gains 15/20/25/30/35% attack speed for 4 seconds after fluttering.

Cost: 70 mana.

Cooldown: 7/16/15/14/13 seconds
  • Flutter is both an offensive and defensive spell. It allows you to escape pretty much and fight and increase your damage significantly in a fight.
  • Also remember that it increases team mates Movement Speed and you can assist people escape from fights.

Fields Of Love

Cupid fires arrows of love into his ground target location, initially slowing all enemies >in the area by 35%. The arrows grow in intensity until they explode, dealing 175/225/275/325/375 (+100% of >your physical power) physical damage. Enemies caught within the radius are also mesmerized for the next 3s. >Any damage done breaks the effect.

Cost: 80/90/100/110/120 mana.

Cooldown: 90 seconds
  • Fields Of Love is another of Cupids Spells which can be used for both offensive and defensive situations.
  • During a team fight, wack this down on everybody, it deals a fair amount of damage and charms people for a split seconds.
  • When escaping place this down just in front of you and when the enemy runs into it they should be charmed, thus stopping them from chasing you.

Build 1: AD Carry

Warrior Tabi

These boots are needed when playing Cupid in either the AD Carry or Support Role. They offer Movement Speed, Attack Speed and Physical Power, perfect.

Creeping Curse

This is needed when playing as an AD Carry. It gives all the chase potential as a Frostbound Hammer but freeing you up a spot for more damage dealing items like a Heartseeker. It is also very cheap and has a very low cooldown.

Heartseeker

Heartseeker is a great item as people often forget that you do need some Physical Power and its not that hard to stack. Playing in the Duo lane this is is still good as it is cheap allowing you to gain some early game physical power.

Deathbringer

Another item which can really increase the effectiveness of Cupid's Heart Bomb. This item offers great Physical Power which aids all of your abilities, including Share The Love which is why this item should still be brought when playing as a support.

Build 3: Support

Meditation

This is needed when playing in the Mid Lane or as a Support. In mid lane there is nothing worse than just letting the enemy push your tower with you not being there, Meditation can really save and win you the whole laning phase.

Warrior Tabi

These boots are needed when playing Cupid in either the AD Carry or Support Role. They offer Movement Speed, Attack Speed and Physical Power, perfect.

The Executioner

This is item places a Physical Protection debuff on the enemy, the perfect thing for a support to do! When laning with a AD Carry lane partner this is simply awesome.

Deathbringer

Another item which can really increase the effectiveness of Cupid's Heart Bomb. This item offers great Physical Power which aids all of your abilities, including Share The Love which is why this item should still be brought when playing as a support.

Heartseeker

After the laning phase has finished you'll have maxed Heart Bomb and will be dealing some significant damage. By this point it won't matter if your killing minions and therefor you can get a Heartseeker.

Laning Strategy: AD Carry

When playing Cupid as an AD Carry in the Duo lane it's your job to deal tons of damage and get the kills, with all the CC Cupid has this is easily possible and therfor makes Cupid a easily viable AD Carry.

Initiate a fight with 10 stacks of Lovestruck and then place Fields Of Love whilst they are stunned. This CC will stop the enemy from escaping or even attacking you!

Laning Strategy: Mid

Cupid can play Mid rather well and this is thanks to his poke and survivability. Share The Love will keep you alive when other wouldn't and means you can stay in lane sometimes twice as long as the enemy.

If a fight breaks out initiate with 10 stacks of Lovestruck and then place Fields Of Love whilst they are stunned. This CC will stop the enemy from escaping or even attacking you!

Laning Strategy: Support

With a Random:
Potentially Cupid has an endless amount of mana, but with someone you don't know or are talking to, the Share The Love mana regen tactic may not work. Often this lack in communication results in your lane partner not picking up the Hearts and thus loosing you your mana.

Save your Share The Love skill for when your lane partner has lost a significant amount of health. Your lane partner will be inclined to take the hearts both regening mana for you and giving them some health back.

With a Friend:
SPAM Share The Love! SPAMMM!

With the beautiful thing called communication you can tell your friend to pick up all and every heart, this means you will ALLWAYS be full on mana and they will be ALLWAYS full on health.

Summary

Thank you for taking the time to read my second Smitefire guide, I hope I have covered the basics and have achieved what I aimed to do, a simple yet descriptive guide for people new to Cupid, Support/Mid/Duo Lane Guide or even Smite.

Please get back to me guys, your input really helps me improve my quality of information, im here to help you and if you can help me do that, it is always much appreciated.

Cupid is far away from being dead. He is just not as easy as Rama or Apollo.

Just finished this assault a few moments ago:
