Viability / General Use: High viability. Lifesteal item purchased by many physical gods with offensive focus.

Advantages: Very high power, sustain potential.

Disadvantages: High cost, no penetration, only gain the passive if you get the kill.

Restrictions: Physical gods only.

Discussion: This is a very popular item used by a variety of offensive gods in a variety of modes. It is built at all stages of a game, depending on mode.
  • Conquest / All Modes: typically built late-game, due to the high price. Is not just built for basic attackers, as the high power is great for high-scaling abilities, and the passive health shield can help anyone.
  • Assault: popular starting item for Hunters that provides sustain and high early power for offensive pressure.

Is this item not good or something? It was like flavor of the week and then no one used it. Outside of Arena of course. +75 power is amazing on its own

I like it as a starter item in Assault for hunters...the lifesteal helps sustain, and the high power helps damage down the line, especially since you can't build Transcendence, Devourer's Gauntlet, and Soul Eater is nerfed.

But this has also been nerfed a bit in recent patches...less move speed to help you get away after a kill. Sure, the high power is great, but I think the price has made it inefficient in most modes, especially when you have to consider power curves.

The difference between the two when Bloodforge and Devourer's Gauntlet when they're both at full stacks is 1% lifesteal, but you still have to hit 3 basic attacks to get there with Bloodforge, which is why its generally seen as worse for ADCs, at least late game.

Just wondering could this almost be as good as Devourer's Gauntlet? When it comes to playing a Carry, seems like it would give you more damage earlier in the game helping with hitting people harder... just wondering, I play Artemis and am very new. Thanks !

If I'm not mistaking, there's a article in the main SMITE site posted recently called " Life(steal) in the Duo Lane " and it compares Devourer's Gauntlet and Bloodforge, but in most stats, Bloodforge is better.

Yes, it does give more damage and lifesteal earlier in the game than dev gloves, but that's not the point of ADCs. They're late game carries, and fully stacked Devourer's Gauntlet is stronger and costs less. Bloodforge is really for early-mid game gods that can take advantage of its stronger stats at that stage in the game, usually assassins, sometimes warriors.

Yep, this is an amazing lifesteal item for auto-attackers who don't necessarily need attack speed from Soul Eater. I'd use this on bruisers that AA ( Hun Batz), certain builds on Bakasura or Ne Zha, and carries that can pump up the stacks quick ( Apollo)

I use this + Fatalis on Bakasura. Multiple hits + true damage + attack speed + lifesteal= :)
