First of all, i don't know if this happens to you people too, just putting my thoughts out there. I also, currently, have no idea how Smite matchmaking (at least in casual) works. If someone could enlighten me on that, that would be great.
This is a problem i encounter in arena in particular; put simply, people are stupid. It might just be me being selfish, but i'll let you guys be the judge of that.
Very few inbetween matches that there are people actually concerned about team composition. Most games i played, i have people autolocking gods or (maybe) have no idea of team comps, or worst, simply playing on people's consciences in the hopes that they fill.
I'm smitten with how Susano works, and am currently trying to play him as much as possible. Yet as i try to do so, once i pick Susano, another player would pick assassin, and another would pick another phys god. It is very common to end up with 4 players picking phys gods. At this point, maybe 1 or 2 people have locked in their pick.
I'm trying to understand by going mage/guardian, but what really rustles my jimmies (might just me being selfish, i'll let you be the judge of that), is that these people who haven't locked would pick Susano, then lock their pick in. Again, people have every right to play what they think is comfortable, i give them that, but i felt spited by them suddenly picking my previous (and first) pick when i filled for them. Again, i'll let you be the judge of that.
That's mostly it. From this point on, i'll be talking about a problem that has irked me for quite a long time.
Most of the time people add players as their friends, invite them to play a few games, and then ignore that friends list. I'd sometimes get people who add me, invite me for a few games, then not make contact the next time i'm online (and hey, i see some Smitefire names in my friends list that are sometimes online, too. Maybe next time i'd say hi first.). So that's that.
Also, i think NA players knows this best. What's the best time of the day to play?
***Edited the post a bit. I tend to repeat words and not review them when i'm not in a chipper mood. Maybe there are still some, too.
but
#StopTheSusan > #StopThe Susano
I know it's not just Smite too. I played Overwatch in open beta and people would choose a team with 4 snipers and I just.... what... why... why would you... a;slkjdf;laksjfd
Oh wait, that's me. I sorta fill in the gaps a lot. Usually what I see (other than the new release god at the time) are 3+ mages. That automatically means I don't want to go Guard, and I'm not a huge fan of the majority of warriors in Arena.
As for the friends list, yeah, I'm sort of like that too. I'm not usually the one to invite people as friends, but they'll play with me a couple of days, and then I don't hear from them again. And I know it's usually not my gameplay scaring them off, I usually do pretty well in that mode.
I'm just bad about asking others to play. If I was invited I would play a lot more, but I'll log on, see only a couple people online in my friends list that I haven't played with for months (or Stuke at 10 minutes in a Conquest match), consider a bit, collect my log-in bonus, and log back out.
I think the best times to play during the weekdays are usually 7-10pm Eastern. I'm in the Pacific, so that's like 4-7 for me, and I don't even play until 9 or after. If I was able to play earlier, I'd be able to get more matches with some of the SF group.
During such events matchmaking proves extraordinarly broken usually, as if it wasn't problematic already (lvls 20's being paired with 30's and such- it's hard to experience a decent game unless picking a god that is capable of hard-carrying).
But about insta-locking new gods; that's very common for at least a week since their release, and with Susano it'll probably be even more given how broken he is (not an exaggeration; I have yet to see a Susano ending the game with less than 2:1:a lot KDA).
And I'm not quite sure how the servers work regarding players from different continents; is for example Europe independant from America and so on? Because if not, then I can say as a reference- on +0 GMT best hours are usually the afternoon-ish ones, like 16-18; after 21 it's a lottery.
Oh, and i play on NA.
