My first ban is He Bo since it's a bad matchup. If my opponent does not ban Chronos I will then ban him (I personally believe he's the strongest 1v1 jouster in the game, and I don't like to mirror match with him). If my opponent bans Chronos (which is most of the time) I'll then likely ban Hou Yi or Ah Muzen Cab depending on how I'm feeling that day. You might question why I allow Hel through, but I'm playing Chang'e soooooooo.... yeaaahhhhh...
In any case, I've had a 70% winrate with Chang'e in this gametype (it's actually been getting better over time), so I hope I'll keep rising until I'm definitively the greatest Chang'e to ever Chang'e.
And in case you're wondering what happens when I mirror match other mastery X Chang'es....
That was a 14 minute match for me to take down her titan. I don't think my tower even took a hit of damage. And to top it all off, she had 1700 more worshippers than me! (She deserved it though, went in there with that ****ty Lunar Tango skin, I knew I couldn't show any mercy).
In any case, just posting this for the heck of it. Feel free to comment whatever on it, or just comment on your own adventures in joust 1v1 or anything else that comes to mind.
*edit: played a game against SamDaDude (popular streamer, Masters Joust player) Sol vs Chang'e. Game ran for almost 40 minutes, we went back and forth for ages (at one point around 2:35:30 I got DC'd pushing his phoenix and died, that was one ulti I didn't whiff, smite did the thing where people keep moving in the direction they were going until you reconnect so on my screen I had hi her, by the time I reconnected my death timer was almost done, I cry every time QQ), but in the end he pulled through. Thought I'd post the video so you guys could see some gameplay if you want. I could have played better, whiffed a few ults which is kinda embarrassing, but it was a really close match and despite losing, I ended 11/5. I also probably should have gotten Stone of Gaia, I underestimated Sol's sustain. Match starts at ~2:11:00.
Video is here
And yeah, that's still uber strong, especially against hunters and assassins who go crit aka Ne Zha/Merc/Hun Batz.
Is Hide of the Nemean Lion + Shield of the Underworld viable anymore? I used that a lot a while back, but I'm not so sure now.
Merc's burst damage still surprised me though. Made me kinda wonder if it would be worth it to grab 3 defensive items and get most of my power from pots and red buff late game.
I had a Mercury go 1-11 in the first 15 mins of the game, like how is that possible? Another one I got ****ing owned as Chaac in solo lane (I had to rotate even with my tower down and enemy duo got semi-fed), then got owned again next game as Loki to Hades, without jungler help (I also got ganked AND Hades strictly aimed for me instead of the waves)
I only won one game in ranked as Ymir support with a full curse call group and AWESOME comp. Went negative but helped Rama so much getting fed.
I have to admit that i wasnt experienced enough back then, but some people on ranked are so toxic compared to casuals that I dont want to go back.
Just played a custom round with Greenevers earlier merc vs chang'e, he thoroughly thrashed me but it was fun :]
New tips I've learned: Obsidian Shard can be great because of objective damage, albeit it does do less damage to enemies, Potion of Magical Might + red buff is probably a more viable start than I've been giving it (I usually go blue buff + Vampiric Shroud and a health and mana pot), although I still don't like the risk factor of contesting red buff early game as Chang'e, even with power pot, baiting people into buying Improved Sprint with Heavy Hammer is a strategy that can work, but only in certain circumstances. Regardless you should be wary of it.
Anyways, kudos to green, that's quite a lot of stuff to consider as I ascend the ranks! Not to mention a variety of counter Mercury specific tactics I picked up now that I've seen a really skilled one. In other news, I also went from plat V to plat I. Hopefully I'll be able to keep climbing to diamond :]
Also it just seems impressive to be playing NShadow when he's the guy I go to when I want to look for joust tier lists xD
I'll be sure to look at the vid to see if he does stuff different with his chang'e tho, can never stop learning new techniques :]
