Hi peeps,

So I've broken the mold, and have started venturing into Arena more...been actually having a lot of fun. That said, I tend to default into only a few gods, but wondering if anyone has any good, unique tips. Kind of a broad question, I know.

My understandings: Never overextend (duh), first priority is making sure minion wave is cleared, and always build at least a little protection.

I tend to be a bit passive during picks, and wait to see what others get before choosing mine...I'm always concerned with magical/physical balance, having at least 1 tank, etc. That said, if I can choose, I go for Loki. I usually get (not always in this order) Jotunn's Wrath, Warrior Tabi, Hide of the Urchin, Titan's Bane, Hydra's Lament, and whatever 6th item (Rage, Bloodforge, Shifter's Shield, whatever). That pretty good?

If he or that role is unavailable, I like Chang'e (though I get demolished half the time if my team isn't good enough). I like Odin for his quick CD ult, I've tried Bacchus and liked him, and Xbalanque seems like a perfect fit for this mode.

Any other gods that stand out for you, or that you find yourself always doing well with?

Also, anyone play around 10pm Pacific and want to team up?

I mean, Ares and Xing Tian now are great at Arena. There are plenty of other gods that are good, but the ones you've listed all do very well in that game mode. Only real comment is that I'd replace Hide of the Urchin for magi's blessing since Loki's not going to be that tanky either way and magi's blessing gives him a lot of survivability when his beads are down. Also for the 6th item if you want damage, Brawler's Beat Stick is your best bet for one shotting people since its flat pen offers the most for damage output. Otherwise, I would grab Shifter's Shield for more defense.

Here are some tips :

"and always build at least a little protection".
Protection is good for sure, but you don't "always" need them.
Once you get how to attack without being too much exposed and can manage to survive the teamfight, you can always go back to heal.
So, that said, surviving at 10% or 40% health does not have that much a difference.
Also, an Arena match is relatively quick, and unless you are fed (10+ kills), you will not have time to get to the 6th items.
So, most of the time, your build will be a 4-5 items. Picking a defensive items would lower you damage even more.
But if you aren't sure, go for protection, surviving is always better than having better damage but dying.

- Use active
I see alot of people just rushing their items and take no active.
Purification Beads is almost mandatory, as there is always 2 or more gods with hard CC ready for the combo.

- Use gods with escape abilities
In Arena, many players are aggressive. I mean, very aggressive.
Those players usually end the game with a score of 10-9 or something similar.
If you get a god with a good escape, this allows you to survive those attacks.

-- CC
More often then other, I find that the winning team is the one that has the most CC.
Unless you play with friends and communicate your attacks, the more CC you have, the more likely you will have kills, and win the game.

- Zoning effect
In Arena, due to the numerous teamfight happening, gods with good zoning tools tend to excel, even if the zoning ability doesn't hurt much. This allow you and you team to pick isolated targets while their team mates cannot go help them quickly.
- Zeus
- Eset
- Ah Puch
- Hou Yi
- Cupid

or even
- Poseidon
- Anubis

- As Loki in Arena.
I'm not a pro of course, but I played him many times in Arena.
I prefer to start with the Warrior Tabi instead of Jotunn's Wrath.
These are the reasons :
- It's cheaper, you get your first damage item more quickly in the game
- You now run at the same speed as the enemy (since everyone starts with boots), and you don't have to rely on your Vanish to get to the target.
- Jotunn's Wrath is expensive, and you will find it long before you can actually run fast.
Of course, Jotunn's Wrath is the second item to rush, no doubt.

About your build, it's fine if you go for Hide of the Urchin.
But before taking Titan's Bane, I'd suggest to pick Hydra's Star ( Hydra's Lament level 2).
This is because it gives you a 10% CDR for a cheap 1000g, bringing you close to the cap.
You can finish Hydra's Lament after Titan's Bane
If you want more tips, look for this guide from Greenevers. It helped me alot

- Magi's Blessing
Again, this is only my opinion, but I find this item useless in game modes like Arena and Assault.
Since that items has been nerfed to a 1 min inner CD, it will not be used so many items.
Also, it's passive is always trigged from any hard CC, whether you are really in danger ( Ares's No Escape) or not ( Sobek's Tail Whip)
I found that hard CC that are not that dangerous are very common in Arena, so your bubble will always be gone.
Purification Beads is always better.
At best, it can be used to prevent some gods to focus on you ( Ne Zha would not initiate a god with it's bubble on)
So, unless the enemy gods are CC heavy Ares, Tyr, Artemis, Xing Tian, Agni, you should be fine with only actives.

Welcome to the Arena world, and have fun.

Gods with CC are great at Arena, Ares, Tyr, Ymir, Athena.

And hyper carries, Xbal, Freya, Chronos, Kali.

Focus minions over kills, never let minions into your base.
