Is it just me, or shouldn't quality over quantity apply? You'd think, that if a game is in beta, one of the most crucial times for getting players, you'd want more quality in your content than quantity of your content

I agree, but the point I was trying to get across is that the fact that the game is in beta probably contributes a lot to the matter :P

Yes its in beta. That means it should be getting BETTER, not worse with every patch. Saying 'its in beta' is a good excuse for maybe a patch or 2, but at this point its not cutting it. The shield value is way way WAY to high, its like a Shen ult you can place on yourself (minus the teleport) on a 10-18 second CD, nevermind the fact it takes about 10 minutes to kill him anyway.

"Beta" isn't a valid excuse in this day and age. Literally every online game that's came out has been released as "beta" for most of its lifetime.

Once a game starts taking your money for things in the game, it should no longer be considered a beta, but a product and products should be held to certain standards.

And yes, I agree, they need to balance some things desperately. And the longer they don't, the more it's going to hurt people when they do, since you get used to playing certain ways.

I disagree, I think beta is the best time for quantity over quality. I like that they're introducing as much as possible because you have a chance to see how the player base reacts and the strategies they implement. Once you have a good sample size you can tweak from there. You want people to play the new gods to get as much useable gameplay as possible so that when the game is released there should be pretty solid balance. If the god is introduced as underpowered or even on par with other gods less people will play them. At least that's my opinion, but I'm fine with more in beta with some imbalances than less in a beta that's more balanced and leads to them testing things after release.

I agree. Bad content is not excused by the game being in beta.

League of Legends hasn't been the best balanced game in the world in its early stages, but it was hell of a lot better than Geb's ridiculous, "oh I just doubled He Bo's max health, trololol" shield.

Betas don't really mean much in the world of free-to-play games. I've been in many game betas that eventually had a full release, and almost nothing changes upon full release. Sure, maybe they'll do something like release a large update, but for the most part, it's the same. The announcement of a full release mostly, to me, just seems like a way to put some more hype into the game/community. I mean, is anyone honestly expecting this game to be fully polished and bug-free every patch when the full release comes? Hi Rez isn't going to magically start getting **** right all the time just because of Smite being in "full release".

All I consider the "full release" label is just a fancy title.

Total agreement here. +1 for the insight.

(Seriously, when TF2 is more polished than non-beta games, the term "beta" stopped being useful as a measure of completeness.)

Right now, we have nearly 50 gods in the game, we don't need them to push gods out every 2 weeks, we have enough gods to play with while they balance new ones.
The War Z, or Infestation: Survivor Stories went with quantity over quality, and we all know how that turned out, just take a look at the angry playerbase they have.
As far as I'm concerned, this game is fully released, 50 gods, several gamemodes, etc, etc, what else are they honestly going to do at this point other than add more gods and tweak them, or certain visual effects? The more they put out, the worse it's gonna get until they start pushing out quality updates. Some gods that were released years ago are still broken, and underpowered, while these new gods that come out are broken and overpowered.

Ok, broken I will dispute. As has been previously stated, broken means they need to be changed entirely. The last few gods have only needed nerfs, and Nu Wa didn't even need that. Personally I think that they are slowly moving towards figuring out how to release a balanced god as the gods they put out have stopped needing immediate super nerfs like release Fen, Change and after-patch Merc did\do

Okay, we're not even in remotely the same territory as that game with Smite at the least, though. Smite is an original idea.
