Trickster's Illusion Patch Notes / 21st July, 2015



Loki Remodel / New VP
  • Standard Loki
  • Ssslither Loki
  • Golden / Legendary / Diamond
  • Due to this major change, all players will be refunded for their purchases of the Golden, Legendary, Diamond, and Ssslither skins for their favor value. Players who own Loki's voicepack will also receive a refund for its gem price.
  • Loki Infiltrator VP will be recasted. (The Infiltrator VP was planned to be released but is being redone)

Hmm, yet ANOTHER change that's a blatant cash grab for fans of the Avengers. This is just like turning Thor blonde.

In less than an year, I predict there's going to be another odin visual update.



"Hey Smite fans! This small balance patch is scheduled to go live next Tuesday, but be sure to also tune in the following Wednesday July 15th for a preview of our next full content patch!"

They call it a full patch and have zero balance changes. Kay.

You guys have actually read Loki's lore ( not in smite, but in actual norse mythology ) before writing this right ? First of all, the Loki that will be placed on SMITE in a few hours in WAY more Lore-Friendly than that Old-Man Loki. Loki is supposed to be this 20 year old freshman crazy and a master of magics with this mind of treason and crazyness showed by he's jester-ish behaviour.

Also, Marvel did a "Ok" job with their Loki, but the SMITE Loki is the most accurate Loki in between the two. I want to know when did the Loki from Marvel has dressed, speaked, or acted like this new Loki in SMITE.

TL;DR - Our New Loki Isn't Marvel's Loki. Dot.

...you missed the entire point of the conversation.

It has nothing to do with lore. It has to do with HiRez "taking inspiration" from another popular media to soak up cash. In this case, Loki from Marvel. Again, this has nothing to do with the lore - it's between Marvel and HiRez.

Secondly, his face has nothing to do with it. For the record, Loki was supposed to have horrifically painful venom that ate at his face dripped on him while he was bound by his own son's entrails to a rock, so it's actually less realistic to have him look fresh-faced. His wife was to have carried a bowl to stop the venom, but she had to leave Loki unprotected to empty the bowl when it got full. When this happened, Loki's screams were said to create earthquakes.

Lastly, neither of them are intended to look realistic. HiRez has never given a single **** about realism and lore once in their entire history. Most of the time, lore connections are just coincidence - the vast majority of gods look nothing like traditional depictions - Ravana doesn't have a million heads, He Bo doesn't wear some ****** open shirt thing, Medusa doesn't wear a mask, Athena doesn't wear boob plates, etc etc etc etc etc etc.

Do you think SMITE would be taken srsly if they had naked ladies running around everywhere ?

P.S.¹ : SMITE already soaks up more than enough cash. Xbox platform, a sh*t ton of chests and the Odyssey last year is already a big-*** example of it. They're just remaking Loki cuz the COMMUNITY asked for it.

P.S.²: About Medusa, they just put a mask in her face cuz it wouldn't be fun to be petrified everytime she looked at you. Besides, it's the point of the entire game : Having fun !

To finish this : New Loki is what SMITE was needing -> A new Loki with terrifying appareance, not only for it's weird eyeballs-mechanics.

I doubt this was a "cash crab for Marvel fans". It was asked by the community for many months now. His new model is more lore appropriate and simply looks better. His old model looked like **** with those snake things on his back. That's the reason Loki Infiltrator was the most popular skin in Smite. Loki base model was horrible. Loki was actually depicted as a handsome and pleasing man who had a malicious character. Just enjoy the remodel.

Edit: Ravana does have a **** ton of heads lol
