Freya is still strong. Chronos is now mediocre minus instead of just mediocre. Nu Wa was bad even with Poly nerfs. But the poly was too OP.

Anyhow, I won't bother playing her. I didn't really like Old Wa, I'm certainly not gonna like New Wa.

Freya is, but again, she focuses more on basic attacks, which was what I was going with. More of a sarcastic stab rather than an actual point of discussion.

I don't think Poly was OP. It was OP in the hands of certain gods/goddesses, who should have probably been looked at in the first place, but I didn't find it OP on most mages at all. But then, the whole Poly debate has been beaten firmly into the ground, and I'm just bringing up the same points, so I'm just going to leave it at that.

Either way it goes, I liked that there is/was some variety in mages with a few excelling more with their basic attacks rather than bursty abilities. Nu Wa definitely needed something to boost her up, but I would have preferred her being more centered around strong basic attacks still, rather than just being another typical Smite mage.

Nu Wa wasn't bad, she was balanced. But in SMITE, a game that has powercreeped to rather absurd levels, being balanced is equivalent to being bad in such an environment.

So what would've brought her up to those powercreeped levels of balance? Well her Flame Strike and Pillars of Heaven were already very solid abilities that complimented each other very well: the faults in her kit lie in Fog and Clay Soldiers. Fog ends up being purely utility, and is really only useful for stealthing around the map to sneak up on people. As far as an escape tool goes, it's down there with Slither in terms of effectiveness--almost any escape is better and capable of catching up to you, and a slow can negate you speed bonus too. Clay Soldiers also falls into the category of being purely utility, but for a different purpose: it helps you put pressure on lanes, and it was one of her crowning niches when it came to split-pushing. But like Fog, it's usefulness beyond that was very little. Sure, once you could conjure up four or five up them they could form very nice bodyblocks against hunters, but the AI on them could still work against your intentions.

Do I like the utility these moves provided? Yes, but the problem is, Fog and Clay Soldiers hardly helped you in a real fight compared to other skills used by similar mages like Freya, Zeus, and Chronos. Fog probably should've done something more, like blind enemy players while they're inside of it (similar to Xbalanque's ult). This would make it a more effective escape and would also make it a good combat tool as well by disorienting your opponent once you're in melee range. It would also have good synergy with Flame Strike because of how that does more damage the closer you are to your target. Clay Soldiers is a more difficult issue, similar to how Broodlings and Cat Call have always been problematic abilities that were either too good or too weak due to reliance on something beyond your control. I think if they did with the soldiers what they planned for them in the remake (minus the exploding because WRYYYYY)), they'd be a lot more useful than they are now.

Point is, Nu Wa didn't need a remake of any sort, she just needed tweaks to make her more useful in combat. That remake should've been reserved for a broken mess like Ares or Arachne, but I guess HiRez is too deep in Tencent's pockets to think rationally anymore.
Waiting on a good new MOBA, please.

Pretty much preaching to the choir about her original kit.

As for balanced, that can be a matter of debate. I do agree that she was balanced in the sense of where Smite should be. Unfortunately, in the current state of Smite, she was a bit off from other mages. This has actually been something a lot of us have been discussing here and there about mages. In general, they seem way too powerful. I agree Nu Wa was in a pretty good spot for what mages should be in this game, but for what it is, she was pretty underwhelming unless a person was a master with her.

Unfortunate, would've loved to play with you :/

Anyways, now I'm not exactly happy with the rework, but meh... Nu Wa's old kit seemed pretty unique and decently complex to learn. It just seems like a dulled down version with some exploding minions. I'm still going to try her out, but her new fog ability? It seems like a joke..

The old fog was pretty bad, but this is just horrible. I love the new model but hate the new kit. Also, I don't know of they touched her voice pack, but the one she had now is really amazing, so they better not mess it up.

Hate to kill that bubble, but I have been hearing complaints of them changing her VP. That, and I just looked back at the patch notes, and it confirms that she's getting a new VP along with Zeus.

Would be nice if they had the option to keep/buy the older VPs for them. Still miss that old Herc VP...

Also, they already have changes from the PTS going live with this patch:

http://forums.smitegame.com/showthread.php?24675-Nu-Wa-Post-PTS-Patch-Notes-Addendum

Looks like Nu Wa is already getting a fairly decent nerf on her Shining Metal skill:

Shining Metal
  • Reduced damage from minion explosion from 40/80/120/160/200 to 30/60/90/120/150
  • Reduced stun duration from 1/1.2/1.4/1.8/2s to 1/1.2/1.3/1.4/1.5s

Double post, yeah, but I just wanted to say just this for right now about "New" Wa after playing her in a few practice matches:

Holy hell, that ult is ridiculous. Not so much the damage, but how it literally takes no skill to use/get a kill(s) with. And with full CDR, a 66 second cooldown. Good god. She's going to completely wreck Assault.

I actually see a bunch of people whine over Nu Wa;s ult, you wouldn't believe how many people fear it to the point they have to complain about it.
