Ehh, sort of, but BME, that's how MOBAs work, and it's the simplest, easiest structure. Plus, people aren't exactly going to want to do something to screw themselves up in ranked - they want to win too, remember. But look at any moba - even league of legends - and you'll see pro players, who dedicate themselves entirely to a role, stepping aside for someone who called it first. Because while someone may not be the best at a role, the best players excel at multiple roles, and shouldn't suffer from missing out on a single opportunity.

I understand where you come from, but not allowing someone to have a role is grounds for ragers to sabotage a team, and makes an experience just...less enjoyable for everyone. It's a shame, but that's why the social convention is colloquially accepted.

When I played lol it went by pick order, if last and first pick wanted mid it went to first pick. Same as it have been with Smite until now.

And that's "fair", now it is more likely to become a mayhem of who can time the enter key best :p

I think it can work, if ppl are open to back down from the role if the other guy who wants the role is a lot better at it.
Like if you got 2 ppl who wants to ADC the one guy has 10 wins in a row as ADC where he carried every game. And the other person have 10 losses in a row where all he did was feed. Then the person with 10 losses should back out even if he typed adc 0,5 sec faster :p

Yep, I absolutely think it's a great idea...but...are you willing to bank on people being nice enough to back down, on a consistent basis? :P

Nope that is what I am afraid of :p

And that is why I do not like that the lobby is random and not sorted by elo. Because now first pick will have no more "value" than last pick. So basically no one can take charge of a game.

It will work when you get up in big boy games where ppl recognise each other. But I think we can actually for once see a real elohel :p

Time will show though ofc.

Your team in the match lobby is now randomly sorted, rather than sorted by match-maker rating. This is for all game-modes, including League.

Basically the reason they did it, was in the words of Drybear, let me use quotes but through paraphrasing

"Let's say there's 5 people, and assign them random MMR's - 1000, 1001, 1002, 1003, and 1004. Now if it's sorted by MMR, the 5th person in the game will be 1000, and everyone else might be like 'wow what a baddy' and force him to play support - even if he's only 4 MMR lower than the best person in the group! That's not fair. Now with this, you won't be so heavily judged before a game even starts, and you won't be forced into support for the smallest of differences"

I see his point, and I see yours too - there's a reason they're lower MMR. But* there's the chance they're just now rising through the ranks and ARE very good. IDK. That's just what he said on stream.

Yeah I saw it as well, and I agree with it not being fun to have to listen to someone with 2 more elo than you. And that the 2 elo means ****all.

But it was at least a structured system :p

Like I normally give ppl with lower elo their preferred role just because I know I'm probably better than them at the role they do not want to play even though I know I'm a lot better at jungle than mid etc. It is better to have 2 decent players than one good and one useless person :p

Hopefully ppl will take ranked serious still and actually try to win and not just get their role what ever the consequence.

As I said earlier it will remove the "Okey he is lower elo than me. I have to be better than him at mid with my 5 games played as mid next to his 600 games played as mid" type of attitude. But we will have a problem when 2 ppl call the same role :p

My solution would be to check the stats of each person and let the best have it.

Like I played a few ranked games a while back with and against mostly the same ppl. And the first game i totally destroyed the enemy jungler (like 6 lvls ahead destroyed), the next game we where on the same team both wanting jungle and he was higher than me. But the rest of the team told him to go something else because the where from the last game as well and remembered us both :p

And he went something else and we roflstomped the enemy team.

Then we knew who was the better jungler. But if it is 2 ppl no on knows I'd say checking the recent games is the best way to go :p

I'm really looking forward to trying it out, but I expect ppl with god complexes throwing a lot of games.
