I know people like to bash on the creators of the game about things we don't like, but come on. Honestly, every god has weakness, and some gods have advantages over others, but overall the game is very balanced.

Earlier today I used anubis in a joust match against a guy playing ao kuang. It was a pretty bad matchup, and i ended up beating him pretty bad, but i was a good sport about it. After the match when i told him "ggwp", he called me a noob for using an OP god (and some other choice words i won't repeat here.

It's not just him, I hear people all the time talking about how certain gods are "OP." Am I the only one who thinks all the gods are balanced? Anyway i welcome anyone to plead their case of why they think a certain god is "OP." or if you agree with me that would be good to hear too.

Any input is appreciated.

I agree that every god is balanced, in their own way. for example, is excellent against mages, but cannot effectively take on a tank until maybe late game, and that is a big maybe. The way I see it, there are gods like who are just plain great against certain classes, and there are gods like who are decent against anyone. Bruisers in general tend to be much less situational, than mages or even assassins.

The you faced was 1. out played and 2. at a disadvantage going against an as a mage.

There are also gods that are just more difficult to play. for example, takes much more practice than does to play effectively.

There are definitely overpowered gods that don't really have many counters. Poseidon is a very safe mage in that outside of sustain, he has pushing power, cripples, an instant, nuke ult incredibly easy to land, and an auto attack enhancer/super speed increase, with a passive that gives built in power boosts.

Sobek has pretty much 0 downside past a mana deficiency early game.

These are just examples.

Are there gods that will always win? No, never. But there ARE OP gods. The only difference with SMITE, is that anyone can snowball. Anyone at all. But there are definitely gods who do it more easily or better.

there are alot of gods in the game, I wouldn't say EVERY god is balanced.

Lets put it this way, I think Hi-Rez def is doing a good job for the majority of balancing but its still beta and there are some moves that they will fix eventually.
Well one thing I can say, at least MOST of the gods are not OP as in every skill is OP. A god might have one skill that is super strong or slightly OP but meh, I won't worry about it too much as long as every skill they have isn't OP.

But to say every god is balanced well, Some of the base stats say other wise :)
People just don't catch on to it.

Thor! I just like saying Thor because it seems everyone hates thor and he used to be the poster boy for OPness. I don't know if he is still the poster boy or not.

Overall smite is balanced but I won't go as far as saying everything is balanced.

i think there is only one gos who is OP his name is LOKI this dude is sooo OP.

ill tell you why

passive crit when hitting from behind

now that passive just makes a loki want to gank you and melt you early game

1 invisibility well this would be ok but not with the passive this combined with the passive can melt anyone

2 decoy this is just unfair this makes him able to push and defend lanes so easily

assasins shouldnt be able to push like that. a normal assasin like arachne (my main jungler and assasin) cant push. as well as loki

3 more damage this is ok i think this one is ok

ultimate jums on you, stuns you and ossitions him behind you then he just spamms basics and instant death.

ultimate is so op i think loki should be seriously nerfed or even removed from the game it takes no skill to play loki

Pretty much a lot, lot, lot of people disagreeing with the OP, happy. He's definitely not unskilled, and is very easy to counter if you aren't braindead.
