Not generic at all. Funny I am attacked for this opinion. Most beta games have items missing, thing is they usually don;t charge for the missing items individually BEFORE they are completed with the false impression that they are getting something worth paying for. But I guess my expectation was my own, they promised only a voice pack, not a good one, a one that represented a good value nor a complete one. So my bad,.

The voice packs are going to be fixed, and because people are paying for them, their priority is going to be very high. If you bought a VP, it will get fixed.

Im gonna repeat a few arguments made.

It doesn't affect gameplay and its only cosmetic.

The game is in beta so expect unfinished stuff.

You mind reacting to the arguments people make, rather then to one bm sentence.

Now to debunk a few of your arguments

Yes they are indeed since like 2-3 patches when they released a huge free expension to the vgs systeam... They will update them be patient.

Voice packs should be free because they are basic stuff.
That is your opinion so formulate it like one please.

I disagree with you. Think basic means god balencing, making sure servers work, making sure bugs get worked out and getting new gods out.
However thats my opionion and not yours.

never forget dawngate and never forgive EA. Freia will hunt them for eternity.

They just added/changed quite a few of the VGS commands. Therefore, in order to fix them. They have to hire the voice actors. Record it all, then add them. No ****ing **** it isn't going to be completed immediately and I sure as hell hope they wouldn't wait to release some helpful commands just to make sure your voice pack has every command working....

Voicepacks as well as skins have to effect on gameplay.Let's think this way
Can you buy any god by just playing game? Yes you can.
Are there any other things that affect gameplay? No.

HiRez must make some money on their game,so they can continue developing it,keep servers up etc.So voicepacks are just one way to do so.That's all ;) If you don't want to spend money on the game - don't spend it,you will have no disadvantage.Skins and voicepacks are just to stand out from a crowd and that's all ;))

Unlike other games that provide real money content better than in-game money content, Smite doesn't. I'm very happy about this.

The voice packs were release-ready 2 patches ago, before they added the new commands, and I'd rather have more commands, not all being played by the specific voice (yet) rather than the same commands for years.

It's simply like: if you want your voice commands played by a different voice, buy it, if not, you can still play the game like you did until this point and people can still hear your commands, only that are played by the standard voice.

Now, I think you are comparing this to the wrong thing. You are comparing these to character VOs which are to add personality and lore to a character. If that's what they were, then yes, charging for them would be outrageous. But they aren't.

Really, these voice packs are announcer packs, and the only other game with announcer packs is DotA 2, which charges for its announcer packs. Now, Hi-Rez isn't adding lines that are passively spoken when you are walking or attacking. These lines are ones that modify the announcer that everyone has into something unique.

Now, knowing this, doesn't that make your argument invalid? I mean, you're saying that this is normally free in other games of this sort. But the reality is that the only other game that has this kind of things that you need to purchase also puts them up for a paid price, and in fact, puts them up for a higher price.

Now for the hostile part.

Why complain? I mean, like everyone else has said here, you don't need them to play the game. Now, I think you well and truly know this. League of Legends, DotA 2 and Smite are made by different companies. Different companies have different business philosophies. Pringles and Lays chips are drastically different as they are made by different companies, so why should two different companies make their money the same way? You talk about this standard, but really, a 'standard' is achieved through many different things all doing something and then the 'mean' is taken from it.

News flash, the big 3 MOBAs sell their **** differently. I mean, your argument right now can apply to League of Legends and DotA 2. I mean, what the ****, they're both free to play games, so why does League of Legends not fit the standard of MOBAs and make all their characters free? Because different companies sell their **** differently.

Now, as I said, a standard is something that is achieved when many different types of things do the same thing. It is simply a level of attainment. As we've established, there really is no standard set for MOBAs in terms of how companies makes money. So then, what is this standard you're talking about? I think the standard you're talking about is simply the one that benefits you the best. The one where you have to cough up the least coin in order to benefit. Now, I know jumping to conclusions based on minimal evidence makes me look like an *******, but it really is the most logical answer. And I can't blame you, who wants to spend more money? But then, this means that the standard you're talking about isn't a standard, but more so a preference of what suits you. An opinion. And I'm sorry to say, but your opinion is stupid. If an opinion is factually incorrect, it is stupid, and unfortunately, the foundations of your arguments have been disproved right here, making your opinions factually incorrect and the cycle continues, just like the lives of people who play Smite and really don't give a damn about the prices and see nothing wrong with it, which there really isn't la di da.

Well , i would never like items to be sold, if i had to purchase rod of tahuti in dollars , the game is finished. Talking of voice packs and skins, we have open for all legendary skins, also the stock voice pack which is great. The custom voice packs and varios skins can be seen as the add on luxury items, that's wy they are sold, its fine. Smite gonna resolve the voice command issue in future for sure.

I think he is trying to say that collecting money while a game is still in beta isn't right, however, in Smite's case, it has too, or else it wouldn't have enough money to run.

No, I'm pretty sure he's specifically talking about them charging money for voice packs, regardless of what stage the game is in.

But on the topic of charging money for betas, you (dacoqrs) are definitely right in that they have to charge money for things, otherwise they wouldn't be able to keep the game up. This is because it is a free-to-play game and, as I've said before, open betas aren't too much different than an officially released game, at least when it comes to free-to-play games. This is why I don't really see much of a problem with games having a cash shop in the beta phase. By the time Smite has its official release, I doubt much is going to be different with the game that you could tell the difference from. I'm sure they'll come out with a big patch with some junk in it and have some more content by the time the game is released, but all I see of the title of "official release" is just that; a title. So even if that was the issue he was trying to raise, which it really doesn't seem like, I still see no problem with it.
