I heard something, several times and wondering if there is any truth to it. I have to think there is more to this story than just what I heard, but I have, from 3 people, heard that they are handing out bans for using Skype while in game. The people that told me stated that they had that specified in the email ban but did not tell me the exact verbiage. These, from how I heard it, were not cases of verbal abuse either, just being banned for using an external chat program to communicate while in game. If I only heard this from one person, or only 2 even, would think it was hogwash, but 3 and was told of a story about the same situation in which a player had to even go as far as to get a lawyer to get his account back after an identical situation. I hear there is a video on youtube about that one but I hadn't searched it yet. Anyone hear anything about this?

NO! Pls no. People that play Dota 2 know why. People literally rage at you via mic, not only that, but the background noise can be pretty annoying too.

And if they release a background program, just like LoL's Curse thingy, I'll dislike it. Why? Well, it's unfair for teams without that program.

People that play DotA 2 know that if people rage at you, you can just mute them, and for the people with background noise, to tell them that they have background noise, so they either stop using voicechat or you end up muting them. Same can go for SMITE: Raging? Mute. Background noise is unbearable? Tell them - best case scenario they fix it, worst case scenario you mute them.

Personally, having the option for voicechat seems great - there's a reason competitive players use a voicechat system.

Well, you got a point. But if they add it on the game, they better add it officially, and not a third party program like Curse's.

It's not fair to one team have that, and the other doesn't.

I actually would like this, or maybe just in ranked matches or something. To somewhat alleviate your problem of hearing 9 year old's moms, we could have a voting system for the voicechat.

Like a vote to turn off/on the chat altogether, vote to mute someone, or just the option of muting someone, kinda like in Left 4 Dead 2

I think having voicechat in-game would also solve at least 1 or 2 issues with pre-made groups interactions with solo players.
