So, if you play Lol, you should already hear who Vel'Koz. Here is the kit

vel'koz

Anyone feeling a bit Anubis?

Not that i wanted to start a riot (pun intended) but i think now we have a reason to counter attack any lol lover who said that smite copied LoL

Can't stand people that say that Smite is a rip off of LoL.

I really hate the word rip off in general.

Lets take the first DarkSiders for example: That game was clearly inspired by God of War (You play as a god like entity associated with war and fight through hordes of monsters and mythological creatures). So the game gets hated on and called terrible just because its a "Rip off", but its not a bad game. The combat is pretty well done, it has some great bosses and soundtrack and it did a good job at combining dungeon exploration elements form games like Legend of Zelda and hack and slash gameplay. I'm not saying that the game is perfect (blocking is useless and most of the puzzle sucks) or better then God of War, but when people hate it just because it borrows elements from other games then why not hate God of War for being a Devil May Cry rip off.

Sure there are some games that are clearly a rip off (There is a game on Xbox live called "MineWorld", I think you can guess what game it looks a lot like).

Sorry for the rant post, you just hit a nerve.

the passive is kind of similar and the ult is just high way robbery but the rest is not really similar.

but yeah it's nice to be able to say something back to those LoL fanboys.
never forget dawngate and never forgive EA. Freia will hunt them for eternity.

I think it's a bit similar when you mix all those basic kits

Vel'Koz Q is like an Anubis 1 which deal a are to left and right damage but mixed with anubis 2 which is a skillshot

Vel Koz W is kind of different but can be thought also like Q, which make Vel Koz have 2 damaging abilities which needs enemy to be unable to move to gains maximum damage

Now Vel Koz E is like Ajubis disruption from his 2 but mix with anubis 3 which his an AoE

Not like I hate this, just my opiniom

I played him PBE, he really does feel like Anubis a bit, maybe I should build him spellvamp. See how that would work out. lol

I feel like he's nothing like anubis whatsoever, save solely his ult...literally 0 things.

Passive: Lifesteal Bonus compared to True Damage. Stack number is the only similarity, one being a debuff, the other a buff.

Q/1: Ball that can be redetonated to split across a 180 angle, hitting other people for same damage. Compared to a stationary, cone attack that does damage over time.

W/3 (as I guess this is more comparable): Rift that damage units in a line, then reprocs for more damage. Compared to a circular, consistent AoE that slows.

E/2: Linear, long, single target stun. Compared to an AoE, ground targeted knockup, that knocks people away if they're close.

Ultimates: the ONLY thing that's similar. multiple tick, linear disintegration ray (5 ticks compared to 10) that does damage each time, passing through all targets.

He's really not similar to anubis in any single way save solely that ultimate, which in itself, isn't like it's a really ridiculous idea. It's not like they copied something similar to Apollo's, or Artemis, which is actually pretty unique. If you're going to say they're the same SOLELY based on the ultimate, then Ymir ripped off Nunu (especially after being able to detonate whenever), Nemesis ripped of Trundle, Agni ripped off Xerath, Athena ripped of Shen, Fenrir ripped off Skarner, Xbalanque ripped off Nocturne, Zeus as a whole ripped off Kennen...see where I'm going with this?

A similarity among one single ability isn't really enough to call ripoff. It goes both ways.

I'm the last thing you'd call a LoL fanboy - played for YEARS but my loyalty has been to smite since I both started playing and joined this site. But I don't think Vel'Koz is similar to Anubis in any way but their glass cannon style play and ult. Everything past that is such a loose comparison, you might as well not even try.

No. The only thing similar to them are the Ultimates, undoubtably. And Vel'koz Ultimate can be even stronger than Anubis': It applies a slow, and with a bigger Hitbox, I think.

But other than that, they're pretty different. I'm hyped for him, since I love Void creatures, and I'll call him Purple Sauron.
