Hello and welcome to my new Guide on Smitefire. This time i will face my favourite Support Tank,Bacchus. As Bacchus "nerf" on his 1 came out, he in fact became more powerful as a Tank and Supporter.
Mark of the Vanguard is in my oppinion the best starting item for Tanks. It gives you very slight Protection and HP, but what this item makes it so great is it's Passive, reducing all damage taken by 5. This might not look so much, but if you think of the fact, that Creeps do usually not that much and the damage is reduced by 5 it is actually good, but not only that. DOT effects, like Ao Kuang's Tornado, or Guan Yu's Taolu Assault, are getting less dangerous, as every hit is reduced by 5, e.g. Guan Yu's Taolu Assault hits raw for 15 every .4s for 4s. This means 150 Damage, but with Vanguard its only 10 every .4s for 4s, which means only 100 Damage.
Boots of Celerity are the best boots for CC based gods, as bacchus. It gives you an advantage in Speed(on rank 3), Reduces your Cooldowns and gives Focus, that is great for CC durations.
Voidstone is a really good item, as it gives you Magical Power and Magical Protection, Focus and Penetration.
Creeping Curse is one of the best items to support your Team, as it slows hard and for an insane duration.
Sovereignty is only necessary once in a team, but in my oppinion the best Physical Protection item. It gives huge Physical Protection, HP, Focus and supports your team with additional 30 Physical Protection in the range of it's Aura.
Hide of the Nemean Lion is just one of the best items to counter AD Carrys. It gives Protection, Health and Focus and has a great Passive, reflecting 30% of the damage done by basic attacks. For example if you get 500 damage from an Anhur's basic attack, Anhur gets 150 damage, no matter how much Protection he has.
Aegis Amulet is in a short description your life-saver, as it makes you immune to damage for a short duration, for example a whole team focuses on you and you are low on Health, you can use it to survive a little longer and maybe even jump out.
Bulwark of Hope is like a Belt if you already wear a pair of braces. If you get low on health, it gives you a shield, absorbing the half of all damage taken while it is active. With the Mark of the Vanguard, you completely nullify small amounts of damage, like from creeps.
Bacchus loves the drink and as Bacchus drinks from his jug, he becomes more intoxicated. When he is Tipsy, he takes 5% less damage and gains +20 Physical Power. When he is Smashed, he takes 10% less damage and gains +40 Physical Power. If you wonder, why i say: Level up the 2 first and then the 3 to level 3. I got the explainantion for you. On level 1 you 1 is nearly useless, thats why i recommend you to get your 2 first, to have an escape and a damage skill and then get your 1 to level 3 so if you want to initiate just take your 1 and you are tipsy so your effects hit.
Bacchus jumps into the air and, not so gracefully, comes slamming to the ground belly first, knocking all enemies into the air and dealing 90/130/170/210/250 (+70% of your magical power) magical damage. If he was Tipsy, all enemies are also slowed by 30% for 3s after they land. Your initiate skill and a great skill to deal some damage. This is also great for CC-Chains. For exapmle you lane with a Thor and you get your Belly Flop, he hits his Tectonic Rift and you your 3 after that, so you have about 3 seconds of full enemy control.
Bacchus lets out an obnoxiously loud belch, doing 20/35/50/65/80 (+15% of your magical power) magical damage every .5s for 2s. If you are Tipsy, enemies are stunned for 1s and their healing is debuffed by 50% for 3s at the end of the channel. More CC and good damage, and a useful Healing Debuff.
Bacchus smashes his jug of wine on the ground, intoxicating all nearby enemies for 8s and doing 250/325/400/475/550 (+70% of your magical power) magical damage. If he is Smashed, Bacchus also gains 35/50/65/80/95 physical power because of his anger over his lost wine!
This Ultimate is just great. Making you able to control your enemy, making him the escape harder, effects multiple enemys in a huge area and works together with every other God. E.g. Xbalanque's Ultimate will stun every enemy hit by your Ultimate, as they can't stop moving when they are intoxicated. Also it works similar to Sun Wukongs Ultimate, so if you lane with an AD he can easily hit is basic attacks.
Bacchus is a Support Tank, so only try to kill someone, if noone else can get it easy, as your role is to help your Carry's to get ahead as soon as possible and try to let him get the lasthits on creeps for his Snowball items or to scale a bit faster.
Also always remind your team to take the Golden Camps at the beginning to get a head in Gold and level right at the beginning.
To conclude Bacchus is, if played well, one of the best Supporters in the whole game. I just left the Pro/Con section out, as i couldnt really find Cons, except that really good teamwork is needed to own the whole game.
