We are not here to win the earlygame.
Always adapt the build to who you fight most. If you attack tanks a lot or the backline has auras, %pen > flat pen. If you dont attack targets with high hp, replace Soul Reaver with more power/utility.
If you feel safe early, you can skip the 3 for a while and put an additional point (or two) into the 1 first for better clear.
As you want to be moving and spamming abilities, maxing the 3 second is important for mobility and adapting to the situation.
When you lean towards only playing one stance only, you can level the 3 last.
Make sure to buy at least 70 more def to get the extra mitigation at lvl 20.
At level 20 you have 138 base defenses, 120 from Prophetic cloak, (=258) and you want to reach 325, requiring 67 extra defenses.
(Of course there will be defense reduction, but also additional auras, they tend to balance out so just make sure you hit the cap)
As always, adapt your items to what youre facing. Pen might be better than Soul Reaver.
This drops pen vs the mid build, but gets the sustain from Blood-Soaked Shroud
Keep in mind you dont want to invest into too much mitigation, as there is a cap for 25% from items now. So Spirit Robe (temp 15%) + Oni Hunter's Garb (max 9%) would be too much, as we get 7.5% from Prophetic Cloak already.
But get at least 70 defenses.
Only get Chronos' Pendant if you don't have the cooldown starter.
Ethereal Staff is great (like spear of the magus but better), but can push enemies hp down to the receive smaller Soul Reaver damage, so don't combine them.
For warrior builds i recommend Blood-Soaked Shroud, Sundering Axe or Infused Sigil. If you go full def, Lono's Mask is an option.
Wouldn't recommend her for support, as there are better options available. But if you do, lonos can work as you want to stack defenses anyway ( Defenses > Health, as the ground stance passive applies to a limited part of you health bar)
Swap them in as needed. Make sure to still max CDR.
Some enemies are better engaged in ground stance, others in flight stance. Plan your moves and consider switching stances before a fight, as you usually want to switch in the middle of it as well.
Ground Stance = Tanky, melee-ish
Flight Stance = Poke, range
You have lots of immunities, you can jump over abilities ( Rising Flight/ Grounding Dive) or be immune to enemy CC with your ground stance ult ( Tempest of Undoing) to turn a fight.
Passive: Death Begets Life
In ground stance, you often want to have as many stacks of hardened scales as possible to increase your tankiness. You can either spawn serpents in Flight stance, jump down and consume them, or hit as many gods as possible with the ground stance ult. Be aware that switching to flight stance drops the stacks again.
In flight stance, you get a lot of heals when anything hostile dies around you, so you can slowly recover without lifesteal.
Flight 1: Primordial Onslaught
Shooting Primordial Onslaught early to guarantee more hits instead of fully charging it can be better if the enemy is about to move, or you have to reposition quickly. The additional projectiles add diminishing damage while risking losing the safe hits.
Few safe hits > maybe more hits
Ground 1: Consume
Make sure to have two buffs whenever you get the chance, or duplicate a buff so your team can use it.
- In the mid game, i recommend consuming the speed buff as you clear it a lot anyway, and the stats are very helpful.
- In the late game, consume the red buff so you and an additional teammate have it.
Ulti: Children of Creation
Summon Serpents
When you back, consider sending your snakes down a lane and the ability will be up again when you get to lane, allowing you to slightly push somewhere youre not going to, and getting a bit of extra farm.
You can also spawn minions before backing so you have a chance of getting farm off the next wave.
Summon Beast/ Summon Storm
In the middle of a teamfight, usually use the storm minion as the others get cleared almost immediately. On the sidelines the charge minion can be very good against single targets.
