Paralyzing Spit

1 X
Cerberus's snake tail spits venom that passes through and damages Enemies. If Cerberus's dog heads are Alert, they then also spit venom when the ability is fired. Each head is alerted upon hitting an Enemy with a Basic Attack, and all are alerted after Ghastly Breath. Each projectile that hits the same target deals 20% less damage, but hitting an Enemy with all 4 Stuns them.

Ability Type: Area, Stun, Damage
Damage: 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 (+20 of your Magical Power)
Stun Duration: 1.4 / 1.5 / 1.6 / 1.7 / 1.8s
Range: 55
Cost: 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80
Cooldown: 13 / 12.5 / 12 / 11.5 / 11s
Ghastly Breath

Ghastly Breath

2 A
Each of Cerberus's 3 heads releases a cone of noxious breath in front of them, damaging all Enemies in range 7 times over 2.4s and reducing their Magical Protection up to three times. Enemies in the center of his breath are also Slowed up to three times. This attack immediately puts all three of Cerberus's heads on Alert for Paralyzing Spit.

Ability Type: Cone, Debuff, Damage
Damage Per Tick: 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 (+12.5% of your Magical Power)

3 B
Cerberus leaps a short distance forward, dealing damage on impact and severing the souls of Enemies. These souls will not block Cerberus's attacks, and killing the souls heals Cerberus, and for each god soul killed, the cooldown of Soul Expulsion is reduced by 2s.

Cerberus's haunting wail summons below him the souls of the damned, which then knockup all Enemy Gods into the air while stretching the link between their bodies and souls, Damaging them. This knockup can be cleansed. A short time later, Cerberus uses this link to pull the Enemies to him. This attack immediately put all three of Cerberus's heads on Alert for Paralyzing Spit.

intro

this is my current support Cerberus build, and im open to suggestions, looking to help as many people as possible get to know this dynamic and powerful god.

ill go through my reasons for item choices, battle strategies and tactics, skill progression. i do quite well with Cerberus and i plan to main him. here goes!

Pros / Cons

pro's

    great sustain
    heavy CC
    lots of health
    protection shreds and healing debuffs
    can
dominate a teamfight with his CC and shred protections of the entire enemy team leading to more kills for your team and more pressure on your enemies

cons
very squishy early so must be played defensively
    high cool-downs (fixed with gear)
easy to be ganged up on

Items

here ill list the items ive used in my build and why:

Guardian's Blessing this starter item is great for the support role in season 5. its awesome. it encapsulates everything you need as a support to the team.
firstly it gives you those much needed early protections and it replenishes your health and mana on minion assists. no brainer buy this with Meditation Cloak for even longer sustain. once you can get this baby to evolve you get an additional ability being 4 bonus gold every 5 seconds. after pushing a lane for a minute this adds up to a nice shiny new item off this list when you can go back to the fountain.

Shoes of Focus i go with the shoes of focus for the cooldown reduction. cerberus in my opinion benefits more from a reduced cooldown time than the penetration he would have gained otherwise buying Shoes of the Magi but Reinforced Shoes are optional if you feel you need the extra protections to avoid feeding the enemy ADC.build this immediately.

Stone of Binding this bad boy is next. and MAN did this thing make a difference when i added it to my build. here is why i love it, 1. it gives me both phys and magical protections early in the game when i need it most, and it couples with a nasty buff for my ADC, they get a +10 penetration buff whenever you land a CC on any enemy god. thats anytime you slow with Ghastly Breath and anytime you hit with all four parts of Paralyzing Spit you should use this item to drive your enemies into the fountain by letting your ADC get those precious kills. this item gets even better in late game team fights.

Void Stone this item is what you should build next as it shreds through enemy protections stacking with the protection shred from Ghastly Breath double whammy leaving your enemies wide open for your teammates to swoop in for those kills.
see where were goin here? your job with this build is to be as annoying as possible and keep your enemies slowed, stunned and weakened and your allies buffed for the kill.

Gem of Isolation this one is one of my personal favorites because it adds another nasty effect to your damaging abilities which hint hint its all of em.
this gem makes your slows even slower, and your enemies even weaker, now your Ghastly Breath slows, shreds, and damages the unfortunate souls caught in your nasty dog breath.at maximum level this ability slows by 37% which is staggering. just laugh as your enemies are cut down where they stand.

Spirit Robe this item is the fifth you should build and if you haven't sold the guardians blessing by now you need to sell it. you should sell the blessing around level 10 to fuel yourself into better gear to keep the onslaught churning. this item provides 15% damage mitigation whenever your hit with a hard CC, that means even tankier you shall be your job is to be un-killable. this will help.

the last item you buy should be chosen carefully. if you need protections, then you should build either Hide of the Nemean Lion for phys enemies, or Pestilence i like Heartward Amulet for circumstances where there are many magical gods on the enemy team. think team-fights people. otherwise my main go to choice to wrap up the build is Breastplate of Valor to top off my CDR% at 40% reduction, at the late game Cerberus should look like a nasty breathed Mexican jumping bean that sows wanton destruction in every lane.

relics are a bit up to user preferance but i usually start with
meditation cloak
and as i level i grab up the Sundering Spear i can poke a god with an upgraded spear and they take even more damage for the next few moments. great way to take down the enemy tank.

Skills

Spirit of Death is the perfect ability for anti healers, great against Hel Eset Aphrodite this runs passive

Paralyzing Spit this is your 1. i like to use this as a poke and stun. level this after Ghastly Breath.ghastly breath takes the first point but after that this should be your priority in leveling. this deals high damage and has a MONSTER 2s stun plenty of time for an ally to swoop in for the kill. also the stun if carefully aimed, can stop a pursuer in his tracks and deny the enemy a kill and save your life at the same time

Ghastly Breath this is your first ability at level 1, it provides protection shred for your ADC, and a slow to make things more difficult for your enemies. other guides will argue that Paralyzing Spit should have the first point, but i find that when played conservatively, neither ability should be used for much until the enemy gets too close and needs to be cut down. i use Ghastly Breath to punish enemy gods that come too close to my teammates. this can be used in chases, it can be used to create an opportunity for you to escape.

Soul Expulsion this ability is best used in my opinion, for the first half of the game defensively, by using it as a last minute escape. level this last. it can be used late game for some great sustain. hop on some enemies and kill the souls for some heals, if your creative you can stack some cool effects from items based on that ability shield of regrowth is cool. but only should be purchased if you don't NEED any of the other items in the build, be careful tweaking.

lastly Stygian Torment this is a beautiful ability, that has so much utility, its the supports best tool.
i use this to throw enemies into my tower range, to grab enemies out of thier tower and throw them at my team mates, ive used this to prevent an enemy from stealing the firegiant kill, just run up and launch your Stygian Torment and throw the enemy far away from the objective. follow this up with Ghastly Breath to make sure they dont make it back to the objective. use this to gather up a group of enemies and when they scatter you can pick off the weakest one by one with your various abilities. its perfect for creating frustration and confusion within enemy ranks.

gameplay

gameplay with cerberus is fun and can be extremely rewarding, he is one of the most dynamic gods available, and the support job role welcomes him open arms

down to business. this build and game play style works universally. exept for the solo role. i don't have that figured out yet. no doubt possible. but this is a guide for support, in conquest, joust, and arena. this build will also work exceptionally well in assault. being that its designed for elongated lane time.

early game::
cerberus is fragile earlygame, i cannot stress this enough. it is smart to Ward early and aggressively, make sure you understand where your enemies are.
after clearing one or two waves on minions grab up the purple and red buffs with your ADC partner and run back to the lane to continue to dominate, if you find yourself low on health, pop a drink from your re-fillable Chalice of Healing and keep on going. allow your ADC several trips back to the fountain before going back. save up your gold a little longer until you can either buy an item outright, or get tier 2 of a new one.
this mentality will help you stay in the enemies face longer
your {{guardians blessing]] rewards minion assists, so run up and bite everybody and let the minions and the ADC take care of the rest, focus on enemy god positions to keep the ADC alive the longest.

mid game. around level ten you should be selling your guardians blessing for another advance towards an item. you should be able to adequately CC your enemies into submission by now so make sure your ADC can handle being solo for a little while and rotate to mid lane. assist in the tower capture and provide ganking if possible. Ward aggressively around middle lane to provide the midlaner some relief from the enemy jungler. rotate and gank between all 3 lanes, but keep an eye on your home lane. as the enemy will have noticed you rotating by now, and will attack the now empty lane.

lategame; you should be with any team mate, and all of them. teamfights is where this stage is at. you can initiate, you can finish off, at this point you are using combos to throw and slow your enemies to death.

ability combos

then

to hit em for a little health and set up some sustain then to shred protections and slow the enemy then to lay on an insane chunk of damage and stun the enemy if aimed properly.

as an opening move followed by which slows and shreds protectiding into a to stun them in place and weaken them further or kill them, after the third ability you have which can either finish off the enemy god, or you can use it to flee and create distance to let your cooldowns time out for the next sweep

after this just play around with the abilities a bit and see what works for you
always try to keep Soul Expulsion available to jump out of an enemies ultimate like Ring of Spears or get out of the way from Thanatos or Kukulkan

Team Work

cerberus is a great team player as he can be filled with great sustain, and awesome teamfight abilities, and he is excellent at keeping teammates alive. use your ultimate wisely to cooperate with other gods targeted ults. you can set up quite a few awesome kills this way.

for example you can Stygian Torment throw a whole group of enemies into Odin's Ring of Spears giving him an opportunity to fill his buffs.
you can use the same Stygian Torment to grab up an enemy jungler and throw them off your ally. be sure to always follow this tactic with Ghastly Breath to ensure they cant follow or jump past you to secure the kill anyways.

as long as you focus on capitalizing on enemy mistakes and keeping ally's alive. this god will do you no wrong.

Good work on this guide. Like the aggressive approach as an alternative to the traditional support play. Some comments:
  • Not sure going Shoes as a starter is very efficient. 500 gold for only 6% MS is very weak. I know Cerb is slow, but you'd probably be better served getting something a bit more functional... Chalice of Healing is nice for the refill of essentially 750 health for sustain. One funny thing is that you mention this item in your early game writeup, but it's not present anywhere else.

  • Cerb is pretty squishy. I know the additional mana from Shoes of Focus is nice, but I think you'd be better served with Magi for the aggression going for a kill, or Reinforced just because your first protection item doesn't provide much protections and 0 health. At least you DO mention these in the Shoes writeup.

  • Maybe you feel Stone of Binding is a good item even in late-game, as you do mention it getting "better in late game team fights," but I personally feel this is best replaced late-game. The protections are on the low side, and although it provides teammates with a small boost in flat pen, those teammates have hopefully built enough pen themselves that the addition of 10 from Binding isn't going to make a huge difference...at that point, you'll probably appreciate an additional item slot for a true counter item, since you're Support and it'll probably help the team more. You do give alternatives including some counter items like Nemean Lion, Pestilence, and Midgardian...so that opens a space for those.

  • If facing a 3 phys/2 magical team, this build might suffer from lack of early physical protections. Writing something up in the items section to provide suggestions for earlier physical protections might be helpful.

  • I feel that Blink Rune should at least be considered as a 2nd item (and might even consider Relic Dagger as an alternative item to support its use). Also feel Teleport Glyph is probably not best for Support.

  • A bit further writeup on ability combos might be helpful for newer players. For the first example you just say Ghastly Breath then Paralyzing Spit. But not here, and nowhere in your skills section, do you talk about how Ghastly Breath only needs the first tick of damage to fully activate the full potential of Paralyzing Spit, so you can quickly cancel and go for a full damage stun if needed.

  • Other skill details like again getting Blink Rune to help set up mass kills, or the fact that Stygian Torment might not get the pulls but can really help as a beads burner, would also be nice to see.

Hmm I wouldn't say it would be for support wise I understand your binding pick on Cerberus, but at the end it won't do much to help your team (unless you're far ahead) in terms of the lack of protections you provide to your team I see you added alternatives like sov etc. But either way it is a decent build I tried it in solo went pretty well.

i designed the build to support in a different way, instead of the traditional buff support, i went with a debuff support build and decided to capitalize on cerberus' existing debuff centered kit. hence why i left Sovereignty and Pestilence as alternatives, because if your facing heavy opposition, its nice to give your team the little extra boost,
