Heya everyone,GeouZu here.I started playing SMITE after Mercury patch.I "main" support and mid roles. This is my first guide and it's about Geb - God of Earth.
|
CONS
Great Initiator Fast Movement with Roll Out CC Cleanse Great Passive Good objective secure/control |
CONS
His Escape Might be CC-ed Can't be as aggressive in early game as other tanks. |
Hard As Rock is great passive against bursty assasins and hunters(ADCs).You are tanky and with this passive you are even tankier against gods that rely on burst damage and crits like Loki and Hun Batz and against ADCs because they mostly build crit now. |
Roll Out: Geb isn't a fast god,but with this skill he can easily move around the map and rotate to mid furies,or gank other lanes. Also Roll Out works as an escape or chase, but you must be careful not to hit your enemy,in that case your skill will end,end you will throw him(if the skill is charged). If your enemies sit under the tower, you can go into jungle, start your Roll Out and hit the enemy from behind when it is charged, this way you can send him off the tower range. |
Stone Shield is amazing ability,on max. level of Stone Shield and level 20,it will absorb 650 damage, and that isn't little.your shiled will save your teammates and your team will love you for this. Also it cleanses CC when applied,so when you see that Ymir froze your ADC,you can apply your shield and the CC will be cleansed. |
Cataclysm Cataclysm is your main initiating skill. It has wide range,so you can CC whole enemy team if they are grouped up.This skill works best with blink. You blink in the enemy team, use your Cataclysm, stun your enemies for 1.8 seconds and remove 35 % of their health. It is one of the best initiation skills. Also you can use this skill to help you steal Gold Fury or Fire Giant. You blink, stun them, and use your HoG to steal the objective. |
Shock Wave is your main damage source,so we level it up first,to clear buffs, help our ADC clear the wave and poke our enemies.
At level 2 we put a skill point into our Stone Shield. At that level protections are low,but in help against CC and that will be main purpose of the skill.
At level 3 we can put skill point either in Roll Out to have an escape,or Shock Wave to deal more damage.
At level 5 put your skill point into Cataclysm. After that skill priority is Cataclysm <--- Shock Wave <--- Stone Shield <--- Roll Out
Also you can get your Roll Out when the game starts if you are caught in the jungle or you need to get to lane fast. In that case it is up to you what to take on lvl 2 - Shock Wave or Stone Shield.
We are support for our team, and our main mission is defending our teammates and initiating teamfights. Geb has one of the best initiations in the game, and it is his ultimate Cataclysm.
You are usually the first in the fight. You initiate with your ultimate or Shock Wave so your team can follow up and kill the enemy team.
Also other of your main jobs is securing the objectives. If you see that enemy team is doing Gold Fury or Fire Giant then you should try to steal them of course if you can. To do so you need HoG 3, your ultimate or Shock Wave. When GF or FG if getting low (but still not yellow) you blink in/walk in/roll in, use your Shock Wave or Cataclysm so enemy support can't hog the objective and when the objective health drops low (when HP bar gets yellow) you use your HoG. It is easy on paper but hard and needs practice but it is very satisfying.
So now the fun begins. I love playing support because there are many options for building.
Good item for tanks for its protections (+65 when fully stacked) but it is not core due to the fact that it only gives you protections and no useful passive. |
Magical protections, some hp,mp5 and hp5.It gives you more magical protections than any other item.Change this item to Pestilence if enemy team has a healer like Aphrodite, Ra, it will help against Hercules and Thanatos too. |
Magi's Blessing | Perfect item if enemy team has much CC.It absorbs any CC every 45 seconds. It gives you 350 hp,and some phys, and mag. protections but they are pretty small. |
This is a must have item if there are healers in enemy team.It gives you magical protection and enemy healers will hate you. |
Very useful item if enemy team has gods with slows. For example Osiris. He focuses on slowing you with his 1+2 and killing you while you are slowed, so when he will slow you, the blade will absorb the slow and give you movement boost. Get it Osiris. Also it gives you CDR, Health and Movement Speed that is great. |
It gives you a good chunk of health and magical defence. I can not say that it's passive is reliable, because sometimes it triggers when you don't need it, but sometimes it might save your life. I usually get it if enemy team has high burst gods like Anubis or Kali |
Very underrated item that I really like. The protections of this item and passive are what we need. The passive is great against gods that CC you and then try to burst you down ( Anubis, Kali, Mercury ). Also this Item got a buff, so now it gives you phys.protections too but a bit less magical protections, but it is still a very strong item. |
In early game your main objective is to protect your hunter(ADC),and rotate to mid furies. The main thing you should know is your positioning, and when to push or fall back.As far as lanning goes, you will help your ADC clear the wave with your Shock Wave but try not to take too much damage from minions because you will probably hit enemy with your Shock Wave. By the time mid furies spawn you should already have your Roll Out,go and clear it,if you are alone use your HoG.Don't waste it in lane. I can't stress enough on how mid furies are important especially in early-mid game. In early game you are very depended on your adc and he is on you. You should be aggressive if your adc is, and vica versa. Your job will be setting up kills for your adc with your CC.
At this point you will already have your blink and ult,and you should start rotationg more often. You need to support not only your ADC but the whole team, plus while you are rotating your ADC doesn't need to split and share his exp with you, don't forget that you and your team need your ADC as fed and as fast as possible. Also don't forget to buy wards every time you go back to base. You need to ward duo lane, also gold fury must be always warded and fire giant after 10th minute.Get HoG 3 after you get your boots. With blink + ult you will be able to set up kills for your team, or save them from enemies.
Late game you will be the real "tank" for you team. You will have tons of protections. You will be the team initiator with your blink + ult + shock wave combo.Tank the towers and phoenixes for your team, get Sentry Wards to ward Fire Giant.
During the teamfights you should be analyzing the situation, shielding teammates that are low on health, and using your Shock Wave to help your team get the kill.
If FG and/or GF are up, then try not to die because it is you who will contest it if enemy team start doing it.
Don't forget that your shield cleanses CC.Use it when CC is already applied, not before.
Be careful with the knock up on your Roll Out. It usually pushes enemies out of your reach to safety,so use it wisely, and from behind if you want to push enemies close to your team.
Remember that your ult needs some time,so if you try to ult enemies that are on the edge of the range then they might escape.
Use your Roll Out when enemies CC is on cooldown or they might cancel it.
Use your Shock Wave or Cataclysm on enemy support to secure the objective.
So here my guide comes to an end. This is my first guide here, and i hope you liked it and it gave you some useful information on how to play Geb.If you find any drawbacks,or mistakes please write in comments and i will fix it/improve.Thanks for reading ;)
Here I want to thank everybody who helped me make this guide even unknowingly.
Jordenito and TormentedTurnip for their Code Blue: BBCoding for Beginners . Most of the coding used in this guide was found in their guide. If you want to make a guide yourself, check it out,it will definately help you. Also thanks to Jordenito for his famous arrows ;)
Piederman although he is not active now,and i never met him,but his Ao Kuang guide You'll Never Break My Wind still remains one of the best guides on smitefire. From him i have taken those beautiful writings in headers for chapters.
Subzero I used his template for pros. and cons.

That is the link to my Guide if you want to check it out maybe you can learn something about geb even you might not know. I know the guide isn't made on my account but it is indeed my work. I asked my good friend Okami for the help because of how good his guide is doing. So I typed up what I wanted and told him what to do and he helped me.
I really hope you read this and try to improve your guide. And if you have anything to say about my guide id love to hear what you have to say. But yea Over all really good guide keep up the good work.
Secondly, the description of the 2 is wrong. The further away you are, the more damage it does.
+1
Wrong. The farther away you are from the enemy, the less damage you deal up to 50% less at max range.
And I prefer to get Sov before the breastplate of valor. Ik it is used so you can spam shield, but if you feed, it won't be much help.
I will agree with Jordenito, however, that I am not entirely sure what to do in a team fight after I initiate. Still, it is a small question in a very encompassing guide.

Level your 3 first. Why? Since you're support, you don't do a lot of damage. Since you're support, you need to support, with Stone Shield.
Stone shield is mainly used for the CC cleanse. Not worth upgrading early. Getting shockwave is going to allow for easier setups and therefore more feed for your ADC. :D
I strongly recommend Weakening Curse as a possible alternative to blink when fighting against healers. Also, I think that Winged Blade has a place a situational items.
Item explanations are okay, nothing much to say. (hehe, it rhymed :D)
Skill order is good and the explanations for it are useful. The combos are also great, though I would suggest adding Roll Out as the last ability in the first combo with the blink, just to slow your enemies. Skill explanations are okay, though I would say that you shouldn't put too much emphasis on what the skill does, while you can explain how and when to use it.
Even though there's a section for it, gameplay is lacking. The game phases part is good, but there's very little info on how to handle Geb in team fights, and as most tanks if not all of them, he as a lot to offer. You could write an entire guide just on the usage of Stone Shield, and can give a whole lot of info about objective fights and the usage of HoG and stealing them, zoning, body blocking shots and using yourself as a meat shield for your team mates - things like that.
The guide itself looks very nice. Though, you don't seem to use space when you end sentences and after commas. you write like this, and you see that there is no space between the comma and the "and" after it, and it's somewhat disturbing in the eyes.
Overall, this guide is on the right path, but it isn't quite there yet. I won't vote, and wait for you to expand it - to add gameplay, improve the build a little bit. P.M me when you've updated it so I'd cast my vote.
