Hello! Welcome to my Kumbhakarna guide - The CC Machine. In this guide you will find information about how to play Kumbhakarna in the support role.
His passive - Sleepy, allows you not to die when you reach 0 health, instead ***bha will fall asleep, and awaken after 8 seconds unless hit by 6 basic attacks (10 on lvl 20). The passive is very situational , it won't help you in teamfights but it is worth if enemy will concentrate on hitting you and not your alive teammates. Also it will help if you die by a long range ability (like Vulcans Earthshaker and enemies can't get to you ( because of a tower/teammates etc ) |
Your main waveclear ability. With this ability you will be able to help your adc clear the wave, also Throw Back does good damage early game to your enemies by throwing minions at them. This ability is even stronger in Season 2. No, it was not buffed directly, but now supports are "gold starved", they have to stay in lane longer and farm. This ability lets you clear the wave and rotate. |
Groggy Strike Roots enemies that it hits for 1.5 seconds on all levels so we will level this ability last, although we will get it on level 3, to help our team in getting kills. This ability must be "chargeg/channeled" before you will be able to use it so it is good to use it after your ultimate or Mighty Yawn. That way you can definitely hit it. |
Your bread 'n' butter. It is you main CC ability, even after its range nerf, it is still strong ability that helps you and your team in setting up combos, combined with blink and your ultimate and Groggy Strike you will be ultimate CC machine. One thing you should note is that ANY damage taken by the mesmerized enemy will cancel it. |
Your ultimate, Epic Uppercut is good CC and damage ability that might be also used as an escape because it has CC immunity. It has fairly low cooldown (60 sec, 36 with Shoes of Focus and Breastplate of Valor ) so you will be able to spam it often, but remember that it is hard to hit and easy to dodge, so use it in combination with Mighty Yawn or Groggy Strike. |
Throw Back is your main damage and clearing skill so we level up it first. With it we will be able to help our ADC clear the wave, and poke our enemies.
At level 2 we put a point into our Mighty Yawn , it will help us both in attack and defence , with it you can also cancel channeling abilities like Belch of the Gods , Roll Out until it is CC immune , and Tremors
At 3rd level we put a point into Groggy Strike so we will have all our CC at level 5.
Our priority of skills is -- Epic Uppercut <--- Throw Back <--- Mighty Yawn <--- Groggy Strike.
Our main job is initiation, that's why we have Greater Blink and our CC. Our main Combo looks like
Main Initiation Combo

Please.. Never ... Just never .. buy.. Mystical Mail ... on ... ***bha...
It is horrible item for him because its DoT damage cancels your mez.
If you want to use one of your combos on enemy just use your Epic Uppercut or Groggy Strike immediately after Mighty Yawn because it is canceled by any damage so you might miss your ulti or they will escape while you channel your Groggy Strike. Although this reduces overall time of enemy being under your CC
Don't forget that if you Throw Back minions and they hit enemy gods - they do damage to them.
Our Epic Uppercut is great for stealing objectives. You can use it on enemy support, so he will be looking how you steal the objective from the sky. Also if you can't hit enemy support with it. Don't forget that upon landing everybody in the area of effect is knocked up.
So here we end ;) I hope you liked my guide for Kumbhakarna. I know that gameplay section came out a bit like "Wall of text" but I wanted to put as much information as I could, despite the fact that i can't code anything there to make it look better.
Last but not least, don't forget our oath (made by TechieFragger)
Hear my words and bear witness to my vow. Players gather and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no kills, hold no buffs, Bear no toxicity. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die for my team. I am the Courage in the teamfight , I am the watcher of the carries. I am the shield that guards the rest of my team. I pledge my life and honor to the supports role. For this Game and all the games to come.
Thanks for reading.
GeouZu out.

About to try the build out, just noticed that Stone of Gaia at the top does not list +70 MP at the very top.
This is a season 2 guide, he didn't update it for the new changes.
great guide!! helped me a lot especially the combo section - what to use first and etc.
Thanks <(^_^)>
It's upvote for me
Penta - I'll update pros n cons, thanks for the mp mistake. I meant mana points but yeah you are right :D gonna change it. Although I don't fully agree about the Fire Giant situation. If me and my team are doing FG then im usually the one who tanks it, and Fire Giant burns my Magi's pretty quick with his knock up.
Ferrum - Yeah, mostly the gameplay section is literally wall of text, gonna update it today or tomorrow.
Well, one thing is for sure. This guide feels.... more wall-of-texty than your previous one.
I feel you've provided enough info, and i feel the problems have been addressed by Penta.
Overall, though, this is worth an upvote.
Magi's Blessing is in no way situational. It is a must have. Why?
Let's say you're doing gf or fg. Enemy Geb blinks in, ults and steals the gf/fg. If you have Magi's Blessing the stun doesn't affect you and you can CC Geb or hog on time so that you get the gf/fg.
The rest of the build is very good, so are the skills.
Your pros and cons are a bit weird, and I'm pretty sure knockups are hard CC. Maybe you could add that he's kinda clunky to use? Dunno...
Item explanations are very good as well. Although you have typos:
With midas boots you say hp and mp, which in untrue. You get hp and mana, since mp is magical power.
I'd also check out the Shoes of Focus section since there are some BBCoding errors.
I'm missing something in the skill explanations.
You don't explain when and how to use it for your 2nd, 3rd and ult. It's not very bad, it just could be a lot better.
Your gameplay section is basically a walkthrough of the game. Try to explain what to do in teamfights, how to protect your adc and how to steal a gf or fg.
Hope this helped ;)
