2012-11-21: Changed items after some more testing and added skill sequence leveling.
2012-11-22: Added an experimental build and did some formating to the text.
2012-11-23: Added a high damage build. Untested and might not work at all. Removed Highly experimental from Hit and Run build. Tested and worked really well.
2012-11-24: Removed the high damage build. You lack to much protection and you lack speed for it to be viable.
2012-11-27: Replaced Spear of the Magus with Gem of Isolation in the Hit and Run build and changed the purchase order of items.
2012-11-30: After some more testing changed back to the old Hit and Run build. Oh, and I would love some feedback, there might be much better builds or is it just that no one plays Hel?
2012-12-11: Changed purchase order for Freezer build and replaced Breastplate of Valor with Wall of Absolution.
This guide is for the freezer build only.
I have not been playing Hel that much and made this guide to get some thoughts and input. Also for my own benefit to know what to try out and what to get in what order.
This build will give you good damage output and some survivability making you an excellent lane freezer early on and a good pusher later on. Bear in mind that you will be very vulnerable and squishy in early game. Play very defensive and carefully until level 5.
Starting out with rank 1 Boots of the Magi and rank 1 Warlock's Sash together with a Healing Potion (or Mana Potion depending on if you are going mid or side lane) to keep you up until you hit level 5. Stay for as long as possible in your lane playing defensive and watch out for ganks. When necessary go back and pick up full rank of the Warlock's Sash and start building stacks. After that get max rank of boots for speed bonus.
After that I recommend you get Rod of Tahuti for some massive magical power. Get Void Stone next for some magical protection on your self and extra damage on enemy Gods due to the magical protection reducing aura. After that go for the Wall of Absolution for some extra well needed protection, additional magical power and the debuff passive.
Last I would get the Gem of Isolation for extra magical power, health and mana. The passive isn't really of much help this late in the game.
Pick up rank 1 Decay / Restoration first for ranged damage. At this stage you really don't want to get close to the enemy Gods or creeps. Then pick up two ranks of Repulse / Inspire for lane clearing. I usually keep leveling this skill as much as possible after getting Switch Stances to be able to clear a lane in a single hit.
At level 4 get Hinder / Cleanse so you be able to use Cleanse once you get Switch Stances at level 5.
I usually max out Repulse / Inspire after that since it will be my main damage (and heal) ability. Get Switch Stances every time it's available for the passive bonus. You are then free to level Decay / Restoration and Hinder / Cleanse as you will depending on your play style. I go with Decay / Restoration for the extra damage output but if you don't have maxed out Gem of Isolation Hinder / Cleanse might be a better option.
+Decent Damage and great support. Will usually freeze a lane completely.
-Extremely squishy early on. If getting jumped switch to light stance and run!!!
I actually enjoy the Hit and Run build more due to the speed it gives you. You will be a great supporter, being able to slow the enemy and get to your allies fast.
One thing I might add about playing Hel is that it requires a good team and good team work. If you don't get warnings about missing enemies and starts getting ganked and out leveled you will have a very hard time doing anything.
