This is my first attempt at creating a guide, so I welcome and appreciate feedback from you experts.
Ymir is one of the most-played gods and just about everyone has a different opinion on which items are best for his build. Usually people will build guardians to be either extra tanky for support or will rely on the guardian's built-in tankiness and buy damage.
This build is amazing for players seeking to support their carry early in the laning phase, but still do some major damage mid-game and late-game. Enjoy!
Pros
No stacking interference with your carry
Watcher's allows you to benefit off your carry's stacking efforts
Very high damage mid-late game
Still fairly tanky after level 8-9
Sweet god skins
[/Cons
Very dependent on mana potions for early sustain
Pretty squishy for a guardian early-game
Annoying voice pack

Watcher's Gift is first for its support benefits explained in the Pros/Cons.
I picked Shoes of Focus over Shoes of the Magi because this build does not include Breastplate of Valor and any help with cooldowns early in the game is a good thing, especially since Ymir is mainly an ability-based god.
For most people, building Ethereal Staff next is a little early, as its passive will not be fully exploited until later in the game as Ymir levels up (he gains more health per level than just about anyone). I put it here because by this point in the game you'll be tired of buying mana potions and 300 mana is a nice bonus.
Chronos' Pendant gives power plus your final cooldown reduction item, which again is a must since we are not building the Breastplate of Valor.
By this point in the game, assassins and hunters are beginning to crit pretty hard, so there's nothing better than picking up Celestial Legion Helm to thwart their plans. Plus, this item also gives you a very decent power boost for a defensive item.
Now you are starting to hit very hard against all enemies except those who have built magical protections, which should be pretty rare since your physical damage teammates (all except your mid-laner) have been doing more harm than you up to this point. Grabbing Gem of Isolation here is not even fair...you already have a freeze, now your other abilities enforce a slow, allowing you time to charge your ultimate for a little longer after using a 2-1-3-4 combo on a fleeing enemy.
Lastly, we need to address those enemies who do have protections against you (or who are naturally tanky) by selling Watcher's Gift for something more useful late-game. Sometimes I go for penetration here, but Soul Reaver is my choice because if you can hit your abilities, no matter how tanky the enemy god is, you will at least drop them 30% of their total health in addition to your regular damage output.
It's also important to note that your Ethereal Staff is giving you a huge power boost by the time you hit full-build.
This a fun build because you get to switch strategies twice over the course of a full game. Early you are supporting, using your lane-clear to initiate the minions and weakening them, allowing your carry to stack faster and also give you more gold.
Mid-game (after building the helm) you will be a decent ganker...freeze them when they don't see you, throw down your ultimate and then your 2. This will kill the squishier gods or gods who are almost dead, and will severely hurt gods with full health who are dominating your teammate.
Late-game your Gem of Isolation will greatly help out with team fights and could slow multiple enemies if you simply hit them with your 2.
I hope you guys find a few hours of fun with this build!
Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.
