I've been playing Hel for a while. And it making me think... she is op.

With her passive she can get huge amounts of damage so easily. Especially with that ridiculous radius on her 3. And the unfair healing as well. You can never be to careful when getting close to her. Most games I've play as mid so many reckless stand still/walk backwards thinking I can't kill them in 2 or 1 shots with my skills as I get close.

I really feel like she needs a nerf... But hey. She's now my favorite god because of that xD

As a Hel player, I'll give you a piece of advice.

1: Distribute hard CC carefully. A good Hel will cleanse her way out of things she can see coming, like Hades' ult or Poseidon's. If you want CC to be effective, force her to use her Cleanse. That said, Hel + Magi's Blessing = don't even try.

2. Get healing suppressors, like brawler's beat stick. These have gotten a pretty big buff, and can drastically reduce Hel's heals.

3: Focus on her. Hel has the second-lowest HP in the game, only 15 points more than Anubis at level 20. Get your highest DPS-ers to focus on her, and she will die fast, especially if she cant heal herself. Seriously, I has a match a few hours ago where our Freya ripped her apart without even buying Divine Ruin. Banish + Freya's burst and DPS = dead Hel.

4: Gank ridiculously often on her lane. Hel can just heal out of pokes, and her passive bonuses grant her good sustain. If you can kill her or at least scare her into recalling, you've done your job of reducing her farm.

5: Hel is stupidly weak early game, with weak heals and damage, and a tiny health and mana pool. And unlike other mages, she lacks any hard CC. Kill her early and you will make it hard for her to catch up.

6: Ganking is effective on her, as most Hels feels confident that they can just cleanse + heal out of anything. But if the Hel is smart enough to buy wards and play carefully, you're screwed.

7: When ganking, wait for her to be in Dark Stance before using your hard CC. This is a simple step that many people screw up, as they panic and back off before Dark Hel can burst them to death. Be confident. Hel may be scary looking, but as long as you take the initiative and strike fast, you'll have success.

8: Of course, all these pointers can be negated through proper preparation and caution, so just hope that you don't encounter Hels who can think as well as they can sustain.

Well, I am a noob but I never really got the feeling that Hel is very strong. She is just so very squishy and her damage feels really low early game. I really like Hel though and would like to get better with her - so could you please drop a few hints on what you have to do to be good in Conquest?

I would like to know:
    1. do you play her solo lane or with a partner (as support)?

    2. which items do you build in Conquest? (do you recommend the same as here in this ARENA guide? https://www.smitefire.com/smite/guide/post-rework-hel-arena-guide-that-means-updated-silly-2491)

    3. do you level your ultimate or something like 3 > 1 > 2 > 4?

    4. how do you deal with mana issues? she is so mana hungry :) I always read that Meditation is a noob item and that I should only get it on someone like Aphrodite

    5. it always sounds like Hel can just ignore CC because of her Cleanse - so do you stay in Light Stance most of the time to be able to Cleanse just before CC happens??

It would be really, really nice if you could give me some pointers!

Thanks a lot!!!!! :)

Well, Hel is real strong when it comes to conquest games. Especially if your solo or mid. I wont really build any def items or cdr. You'd be surprised at how short your cd on skills are, just don't stray to far while your skills are on cd, just hit and run that's how I do it.

What's important is to use your 1 on minions WHEN the other god is next to them. Since it is a burst hit, it is a great poke unless that god is smart and stays away from their minions.

I would just mostly lvl up my 1, 3 and ulti. Leaving my 2 for last when everything else is lvled up.

You just need to be careful of ganks if your going for that kind of build. For me I'd rather be a real pain in the *** with my attacks so I mostly stay on the dark side. But always consider your light stance 1 for extra damage or using it as a finisher. And ALWAYS go for meditate on conquest. Not sure about other game modes.

And make sure that if you need healing wait for your passive to go white that way you get more hp out of it.

And one more tip. Never be afraid of getting to close. Just poke poke poke. Unless your opponent is smart they'd run away from you. Because your 3's radius is real big and painful it's quiet scary. Most games as Hel I always see them walk backwards instead of turning tail and run. Due to that mistake I always get them with my 3.

As for item builds I usually go for all the stuff that hurt. In order: mag pen boots, Asclepius, Poly, then some stacks with Sash and Thoth then tahuti for that extra butt hurt.

You just need to be careful with this build, You can easily get picked off if you don't got cleanse on. If your alone and you see someone with CC potential. Put it on yourself immediately, he wont be alone and they'd try to CC you before you could try to 2 yourself. But really, with that build you can ambush almost anyone. your 3 first then basic them if you have poly. That's enough to just bring them to 1/4 of their health. Forcing them to run. Which makes them easy target for your 1, both dark and light stance.

So all in all. You just need to poke and be careful. Once you are fed your a killing machine with that build. Maybe... Sorry though, I'm to lazy to add those fancy BB codes. Hope this helps you! :D

Thanks a lot for all the info! :)

I was always under the impression that I really HAVE to get cooldown reduction and that I HAVE to build her a bit tanky, so I can get near enough to do damage. I will try to build her like you described now! I hope that helps! :)

Thanks again.

I prefer building some defense on her. On average I go phy defense to make junglers hate me.

If your careful of junglers you dont need def. Especially if you preempt their attacks and switch to light stance before they try to stun or gank you. you would survive long enough till you reach your tower.

Why would I want to do that? I would rather sucker that idiot in so I can kill him and loot his body for shiny. Have basically gotten a triple kill solo as Hel cause of defense. Killed the duo lane I was facing; Hel and Tyr; and their jungler; Bakasura.

wait a minute????

Hel got a new passive???

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't hel's old passive basically nothing and her old passive just basically said "she uses her ult to change stances?"

So if I am not insane and she got a new passive this entire time and I never knew...

then....

wait shes buffed to hell now???? 20% damage and healing??? Extra???

WTF?????

She was already strong before but is this why I seen people actually player her now???

Damn I gotta pick her more

You asked 7 questions and used 25 question marks.

Anyway, yeah she's very very strong, but she's not broken. She still has all the problems she had before - ridiculously squishy, and easy to kill under lockdown. Only saving grace is a preemptive cleanse, but that's definitely not always easy.
