Ah, I was wondering if many of the "forced active" problems could be solved by making them sell-able. I mean, it won't make much of a difference, as gods will still be getting a pernament beads and/or aegis. The only kinds of gods I think it will affect are some solo laners and supports. Maybe mid laners if they get teleport.

Yes, I do.

The key to balancing it is not to see it as a generic warding active. I see it as an active for lane security. If you have Neith, who has good sustain and escapes, you won't get it. If you have a very risky hunter like Artemis, you'd get it.

That's the strength of Eye, in my eyes: Constant and consistent warding. It is quite possible to simply outlast normal wards by putting pressure on lanes. This way, you don't have to go back to base for wards, and you can stay consistently protected.

The upgraded Sentry ward Eye would be for similar purposes, but for map objectives only, rather than the entire half of a map. Since you can't ward both FG and GF with one Stealth Eye, this also encourages coordinated warding.

The other kind of Eye is where a large amount of vision is of paramount importance, like when you are with a noobish team, or against certain gods like Loki, Thor, or Fenrir.

Normal warding won't just have a "niche," it will still be completely necessary. I can see supports even with Eye buying "emergency wards" to avoid rotations and being flanked in teamfights. It's like offensive warding, basically, while Eye would be defensive. Both have their uses.

Your solution is not a good one. What you're suggesting is already good gods should be better by not needing it, and bad ones should be made even worse because they would need it (and thus, give up an active slot for something useful like Aegis Pendant or Combat Blink). That is a horrible reason to keep it around, and is one of the many reasons this game is in such an imbalanced state.

And you're kind of wrong: it is a generic warding active. Everything you've said could be accomplished with ordinary wards. All the active is doing is giving tanks and supports an extra job that should really be a teamwide responsibility.

The game would just be better off without Eye of Providence. It's not helping the game, it's only hurting it by existing.

Furthermore, actives being sellable would break the game. Imagine everyone starting with Hand of the Gods and Teleport to Towers for earlygame. Then lategame, everyone swaps them for Purification Beads, Combat Blink, Aegis Pendant, and all that stuff. You'd end up with something similar to League of Legends' Summoner Spells in the end.
Waiting on a good new MOBA, please.

What if Eye of Providence gave you a discount on wards. Then only allowed 1 ward every 4 minutes. You wouldn't be able to rely on EoP for all your wards, but you would want it so that you could ward without the high costs. Then it would make it more of an option than a must.

Eye of Providence is a bit of waste when we have the option of wards. It needs more value addition tat irrespective of a player getting killed or not the ward would remain in place for a certain duration. Make it more effective than wards. Hand of the Gods is a terrific item for tanks as well as junglers.

Bad gods..? I don't understand; If Ymir wants Blink, he could just lane with a safer laner. I'm not saying the hunter needs to grab Eye, the prospective support does. How does it rule out options like Combat Blink?

If you can only manage one ward's upkeep, then I would argue it is not like normal warding. And if the team thinks that warding is purely the support's job due to them buying one active, then there is a problem with the active's balance making everyone think it is possible to do that. You also never addressed my point: That if Eye was no longer the most effective option, people would stop viewing it as a ward-all item.

One more thing: Nothing is forcing supports to buy Eye of Providence. But warding IS their job. Sure, the rest of the team also has to ward, but I don't see how a non-existent Eye helps the game more than a nerfed one.

I had to post Jordenito's idea, it just might work.

As for Eye of Providence, I'm really clueless about this item. I mean, if we were to take it down, ganking duo lane will occur much more often. Now I'm not saying the is a necessarily a bad thing, but some people might not like it.

There are a few suggestions that spring to my mind; not all of them might be viable but some general ones:
  • Instead of making it grant free wards every 90 or 60 seconds, we can make it a regular starter item/active item that reduces the cost of wards and increases the duration of wards you place.
  • Remove it from the game. Make the support buy wards by himself with no help. I mean, they won't need to spend that much more money, 300 gold = 4 wards, and you might get the second tier Eye of Providence which is another 4 wards. It's not ideal, but removing it might be an option.

The first one. The idea of making it a starter item. It runs into a similar problem called Watcher's Gift...

I just thought of something.

My Proposal

I hope this will make everyone unhappy.

I give up.

If you cannot see why Eye of Providence is unhealthy for the game, you are a hopeless case.
Waiting on a good new MOBA, please.
