It doesn't. Both LoL and Smite use fully rendered 3d models. It's just that one's more obvious than the other.

And yes, you can mod LoL's camera to make it look like Smite. It's really freaky.

The 3rd person view isn't really good for League of Legends. It makes it messy and really can make you frustrated (especially if you are playing someone with skillshots)

Also - risk of getting banned still exists since it alters the camera. Same thing happened to those with the "ultimate zoom mod" (you could zoom out to see the whole map for example)

SmiteFire & Smite

Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat.
