Me neither. If the enemy team isn't ******ed they'll just go after you. And then it's 5v4 and still push your tower.

Okay, I give up on trying to explain this by words. I made a gameplay video of it, and I end up getting about 3-4 waves and getting a kill. I did die, but I don't care because not only did I have 2.5k gold when I died, but my team DID push up (slightly) and we did end up winning the game.

I'll post a link here when I have it, but I wanna narrate it so you guys can follow my logic here.

I see it working but not that well.

if you are Apollo and they would put you up against one of their hunters with only 1 item of LS and the other are power item (normal build without the dev gloves but then asi or bloodforge). I will sooner see him kill you then him why. you may heal up for that 50% (or so) damage you do but he does more damage so and you less so you heal up less then for the damage done.
Also if you start feeding on the minions the other god is just healing up when hitting you (and slowly killing you) while you heal up a bit on the minions. if you leave the minions you would also get damage from them killing you quicker. ( Apollo example)

And when your a melee god they will just shoot you down from under their phoenix mostly only allowing you to poke when you have a long range one Mercury's one. and if you mange to snatch grab them out of the tower/phoenix you will still get some hits from the tower (and maybe even minions). and any god with a good escape will just flee back or move to the other tower. there they will continue to shoot at you while you need to wait for your cdrs to be off. ( Mercury as main example).

so yeah in a 1v1 your not gonna make it against a hunter this way so they will just sent a hunter to eliminate you. (and then I mean someone who knows how to hit a lot of his basics attacks).

In early game your ls isn't that strong yet so I don't see you survive that long after a few waves.

And yes the gold denial is the biggest thing you get everything and the others get nothing so you get some lvls and if the other team chooses not to eliminate you they can't push your team can't push and they will just get lvls and you will get lvls but I see your team getting behind a lot. (you may end up fed, but when you are going to come to them you need to walk through towers again or ult through them again then the other team will quickly focus you killing you first and then making easy deal with the other members of your team who are really under leveled.)

Yeah, as someone who mains Assault, I don't see this working on the lines of becoming the "new meta" for Assault.

Sure, you may have gotten it to work at times, especially against fairly bad teams, but in the situation that you describe, I find it a lot better to stick together as a team, rather than splitting up. If they've already got you pushed to the phoenix, chances are, you need everyone on your team working together to stand a chance against that enemy team.

Like I said, it may work at times, but I doubt it'll work more times than not, and especially not to the point where it's a "new meta".

If the enemy team is steam rolling you, most of them will be quite happy to tank a phoenix. Especially when its 4v5. If they push past the phoenix you're literally just a useless team mate on the other side of the map doing absolutely nothing to help. The only variant of this I'd ever consider is when you're low life - ulting into the enemy tower range to deny them a kill [gold/exp.] But that's as far as I see it going, tbh.

The use of the term "meta" was a sarcastic satire about metas in general. Sorry.
