They really can't though.

My trick against every assassin: Focus them early game.

Even if you feed a few kills, do everything you can to make sure they can't get farm.

Because an underleveled assassin is quite weak and typically ends up becoming a suicide bomber.

I quit Smite monthes ago but I still stick around here on smitefire because you guys are awesome, but I agree Thanatos is broken as all hell,

I just think his passive is BS, but he isn't hard to deal with.

luckly he does. this is the problem with thor's ult he can realy come from nowhere if you don't see him.

I best detail my problems. Death Scythe is one of those "juke it or you're dead" moves. The problem with these moves is that sometimes you can't juke them, and Death Scythe does SO MUCH. A slow, a heal, and ridiculous damage. And about the ult, the drop speed is ******ed. I like playing gods who often have little mobility, such as Chronos, He Bo, Osiris and that lot, so as such one needs aegis. But after an aegis, thana can easily hit you with his 3 into his 1 followed by mercilessly carving you up like chicken on a Sunday at 6:30, seriously setting you behind. And the worst thing is how bad his late game is. It's nigh impossible to balance Thanatos, and as such I think he needs either a full rework or, dare I say it, to be removed from the game.

You need to learn how to counter him, or play him at least. I hated Loki as hell, so before i say something OP to him, i tried to play him first to know what's good and bad for him. To be honest Thanatos is a piece of cake to shut down if your with a friend, 2 people can shut him down easily.

Tip: if he ults at you, go forward and wait for him a bit to hover death to you, if you feel you need to dodge or aegis now, stop moving forward and IMMEDIATELY look behind and keep moving backward, he will fail to do it, i tried this wtih Scylla so in other words, i juke his Hovering Death, froze down a sic em on his face to take down his HP to 3/5 then i activate my Sentinel on his back to retreat, in this case my allies has already murdered Thanatos. It's easy Pud, the thing it requires is timing. always look above the sky if he is close to you, then juke him. It requires practice tho.

EDIT: Scylla can be a master of jukes since her kits are so smart. If you prefer Chronos use his steroid to move backward as fast as you can so Thanatos can't catch you with his Hovering Death

Still if you have your escape ready you can easily dodge it. But I already see you mostly play gods without an escape. and yes then aegis is a must and the follow up will be there and a point blank scythe is almost undodgeable.

In that case make sure someone is close too you
