That could work, but how will conflicting opinions be handled? Like, Person A thinks it is a good guide, but Person B does not.

Well you are right, but better follow a Good Build then a ****ty One. I mean how new Players should be Even able to Spot Good guides ? The Top Rates here are also sometimes ********. Hand Down, yes on smitefire is better to make guides and yes there are good ones, but atm tiermonster is just better. BTW iam just Talking about the Build atm. And if i See Meditation or other stupid Items i just cant understand why this Ppl are doing guides instead of learning the current meta.

YES!

I've tried to get that before (like when I first came to smitefire).

The way I see it.

Smitefire:
Great ways to make a guide (how it looks, add a lot of information with pictures and the Ward stuff).
A easy forum to read etc.
That ppl actually care about arena! shout out to you Turnip ;)
To casual (playing for fun rather than to learn and get good).
90% stupid guides/builds (like seriously go to the different gods and look at all the guides).
Tiermonster
Focus on actually getting good at the game and playing competitively.
Great coverage of statistics, tournaments etc.
****ty ****ty ways to make (in depth) guides.
Awkward forum (might be better now).

I'm not saying that playing for fun is bad, but when you make guides etc. they should be focused on playing the game to win! And you do not win by going with meditation and + .

At least make it possible to delete guides, I would gladly go through them all and flag all the once I think should be removed.

WELL SIR don't knock artemis with jotunn's. I've seen a caster artemis wreck with that boar and suppress. ;D

But I do get your point. But who even has the AUTHORITY to determine who's the board for a good guide to pass through? Is Mowen seriously going to have to deliberate who gets a say, on top of dealing with who's promoted and whatnot? What if one of these esteemed judges isn't here? How long do we wait and what's the grace period?

I don't think any of us have the authority to decide any of that =/

The problem is the administration there itself. I've said this about Smitefire from the beginning, but the reason I won't make a guide there is because what all the ____fire sites became.

"Good" guides to them are one of two things:

Incredibly well formatted and organized with images and color coding to the point of ridiculous time consumption (If I wanted to make a guide like this, I'd just do a video guide).

A novel written about the god and how it plays, including all matchups, tons and tons of situational knowledge, every situational build, hell - even notes about their aesthetic design.

If this isn't the quality met, much of the administration itself will call it not as good as another guide which does one of these things - even if the content itself is better or more thought out.

I remember a long time ago - Mobafire (Smitefire's LoL cousin) had worked with several pro teams to make guides. When those guides were made - there were tons of people complaining in comments about how they weren't great guides because they weren't in depth enough. Sure, they didn't get downvoted into oblivion because there were still plenty of people around to upvote them based on status - but really guides should be judged on their base content. How much theory is behind it, what item choices they go for, what kind of build they're going for (I mean some people want to play less serious builds), etc. Not quantity of content and organization.

Imagine - pro players not having the time to write a novella.

That's not even a drawing point, really. Smitefire, while it has forums, isn't it's main focus and that's incredibly obvious just from the frontpage. There are several forum based communities for Smite - so it's very easy to just go join those instead.

Quite honestly, what it comes down to, though, is many people don't want the kinds of guides you guys put out. Many people looking for guides are looking for quick succinct builds with a tiny bit of playstyle or tips&tricks behind it. You guys fail to hit that market because of a push for "quality" builds that aren't even necessarily quality but full of content, instead.

That is true,hence a committee vote. Like 5/7 people would vote on a guide, to prevent prejudice. But that kind of delves into the territory of making this site about serious, professional guides. And away from its current state where anybody can post their thoughts.

I agree that the guides on here are too focused on being pretty and packed with too much information. No matter how hard you try; you aren't going to be able to give someone every scenario. Also, writing every god match up is a bit ridiculous. Seen it done. Read all of them and it didn't really help, considering it would take a few times through to grasp all of that information. However, if you do want to grasp that overtime. A well written/formatted guide makes it easy to reference back and learn over a duration.

If you want to be the best. You have to know it all. Easier to be guided the way SmiteFire does it than the stuff I've seen on TierMonster and, regardless of what you say. They both have a ton of absolute **** builds/guides.

I think smitefire is just MUCH better in this thing. They have enough information. I mean more cannot be bad right? As long as there is a which build or which skill to upgrade first, that's what casual player looking for and smitefire have what it takesfor wanna be pro players

All that is needed is basically to remove guides that get reported (I've gotten a few "guides" archived, but meditation is not a good enough reason unfortunate) and when x% of 5+ votes (or something) are downvotes or it goes x days whitout any votes.

Someone needs to do the job though :p
