Well technically it's matchmaking...ish.
And yes it makes you 100% undeniably gay.

No I think it's common to assume most gamers are guys. It's stereotypical. It's not as common as certain racial assumptions, but it's the same way you'd expect a nurse to be a woman or a construction worker to be a man....there are just some foundations socially that lead us to expect a certain gender in a situation. We're conditioned to expect more gamers are guys due to the "gamer girl" / "geek girl" harassment.

I won't get into social problems, I've had enough of that in my classes. To put it simply, no, it's normal to assume everyone is a guy, but it's only due to a socially created norm that shouldn't exist, as it makes guys biased towards girls and makes girls feel insecure (not as in low self-esteem, but actual security emotionally and mentally) online.
