To be fair, I think he was pointing out Invoker as a very hard champion in general. He has 14 spells instead of 4, since he gains a 'buff' on each basic ability, and his ult combines his last three essences to form a new one. I heard he's the best character because of pure flexibility, but knowing how to combine the essences. However, he doesn't have basic abilities, just buffs that enhance his Invoke, but except at max rank it's actually a 22 sec CD at first level, meaning he gets off only a couple spells at a time.

He's soooooo hard.

But yeah, it's still hard as balls.

only 14? I heard 32.

I don't play it much, but maybe this beginner's guide the DOTAFire admin made will help?

That guide was trully helpful. It helped me in the weeks before posting this. Now I got a coach that helps me when it comes to Dota 2. I'm learning the style of the game quite fast... but that's a team game, and even your own allies, sadly, can screw up your plans.

Talenheim, from what I know it's 14. The 3 combinations (not permutations) of Quas, Wex, and Extort, totalling 11, plus the invoke.

1 Quas
2 Wex
3 Extort
4 QQQ
5 QQW
6 QQE
7 WWW
8 WWQ
9 WWE
10 EEE
11 EEQ
12 EEW
13 QWE
Invoke (which is what they become)

Unless I'm mistaken and you can use invoke on just 2 instances combined, but I'm pretty sure you're tied to using it with 3 essences. It used to have more skills in earlier dates, back when the order DID matter (Quas, Quas, Wex was different from Quad, Wex, Quas or Wex, Quas, Quas), so it had, I believe, 27 skills, plus the original 4 abilities themselves.

There is a huge Meta to dota 2 and its really hard to pick up on I previously played professional dota 2 (Australian) the scene is amazing and the different lineups people throw your way are intense the best way to learn IMO

Bots.
If you aren't a "Bot" guy like me just jump straight in look up suggested items (From other players not Valve) and go nuts just as long as you dont do something stupid like call solo safelane (Safelane being the right lane for Radiant and Left lane for Dire)
Or take a really squishy hero with no escapes (Zues) into the suicide lane (Left lane for Radiant, Right lane for dire)

The difference in those lanes are its very hard to gank the safelane where as its incredibly easy to gank the suicide lanes due to the jungle being on the opposing side.

Don't argue with people if you are new and they say you need this or that item get it.
Once you figure out the items you can judge for yourself but most of the time people will tell you to get a decent item (UNLESS its Eye of Skadi on Venomancer etc) that is just moronic.

Only way to learn is practice practice practice, good luck buddy after 9 years of dota im completely over it and living my life on Smite now. GLHF.
(9 Years of DotA, 1 Year of LoL <--Which I hate myself for, 6 Months of smite & When Heroes of the Storm is open beta X Months)

(Don't judge a MobA you haven't played everyone has their favorites Mine was DotA for so long now its Smite)

I just started playing DOTA 2, trying to figure out what heroes I like to play and all that. The only thing I even moderately have the hang of so far is Bounty Hunter. I don't understand any of the magic users at all. I like the stat system though.

EDIT: nevermind, I just discovered Razor and he's OP as ****.

I've not tried Razor yet. I was looking to. I tried Visage, he's complicated as ****. For now, I'm sticking to Chaos Knight, Sand King, Tidehunter and Venomancer( sometimes Shadow Fiend, but he's also a little bit complicate).

Razor's right-click damage gets ridiculous if you can get a full link on his 2. Upwards of 200 extra damage a hit, you can one shot creeps and with your ult up it just melts people. Early game, levels 1-7 or so, a full link on your enemy in lane is basically guaranteed death for them. Combined with damaging illusions from Manta Style, he can destroy people. And if they try to run away, just use your 1.
