So when I first red the patch notes I thought it was 50% of your physical power and I was super stoked, but got a bit disappointed when I tried it out.

The thing I found out is that the passive deals 50% of physical power from buffs and items (but not base damage).

So I read the passive again (and face palmed).
PASSIVE - For 5s after using an ability, your next basic attack will deal an additional 50% of your physical power from buffs and items as physical damage. The effect applies every 2 seconds.

(Lament damage in green and Demise damage in blue)
So with a normal lets say Loki (lvl 20) build cus Loki <3 Hydra's Lament ( Warrior Tabi Jotunn's Wrath Titan's Bane Focused Voidblade Hydra's Lament/Demise and Deathbringer) you are going to get 150,5/151 damage from Lament and only 115 from Demise.

So what does it take to get you past the 151 damage with Hydra's Demise?
Full build = 230 physical power, so 115 damage.
Fire giant buff = 50 physical power, so 25 damage.
400g pot = 20 physical power, so 10 damage'
red buff = 5 physical power + 20% of your physical power, so 26 damage (with only this buff, a bit more complicated with more buffs on) "((230+5*0,2)/2)+2,5=26".
3000g pot = 25% of your physical power, so 28,75/29 damage (with only this buff on)

examples:
-full build + red buff, gives Demise 115+26=141 damage.
-full build + fire giant + 400g pot: 115+25+10=150 damage.
-full build + 400g pot + red buff, gives Demise 115+10+((255*0.2/2)+2,5)/28=153 damage ([VEW] 2 damage more than Lament).
-full build + 400g pot + fire giant + red buff, gives Demise 115+10+25+((305*0,2/2)+2,5)/33=183 damage (getting better now +30 damage!)
-full build + 400g pot + fire giant + red buff + 3000g pot, gives Demise 115+10+25+33+(305*0,25/2)/38=221 damage (so with all buffs you can have you are going to get +70 damage)

So basically if you are going to go Hydra's Demise, you have to have a full build, red buff 24/7 and a 400g pot to get more damage out of it than with the Lament.

Just wanted to give ppl a heads up before they rush into Hydras Demise :P

To be fair the Lament depends on the base damage of the god (and Loki has a pretty high base damage), here is some examples on other gods base damage (at lvl 20 ofc):
Ne Zha = 83 which is 145 with Lament.
Mercury = 80,6/81 which is 141 with Lament.

And Demise depends on the build, so a more physical power based build would give you more damage ofc. For example:
Hydra's Demise Warrior Tabi Heartseeker Bloodforge Eye Of Retaliation and Deathbringer will do 144 damage with just the build.
and 164 with red buff etc etc. (184 with full Bloodforge stacks) (Eye of Retaliation will also give you more damage when on low health ofc).
But when it comes to a build like this you again have to think about the fact that you have only 15 penetration and the passive deals physical damage, so even though it looks like more it is probably going to be less than with the Loki pen build.

I'll leave it to someone else to craft a build where Hydra's Demise works well. IMMA go Hydra's Lament all day!

Thanks for the math! I didn't realize it was 50% of bonus AD.
So what I'm planning to do is build 5 heartseekers and demise (it's totally possible, what do you mean I can't build duplicate items!?)

I still wish you could build the two different last tier options...that'd be fun.

haha! That would be epic.

Would rage when I lose 125 stacks though :p

(I know LoL does/did this when I played it, but you just got the passive from one of the items) :P

I had the same question about Hydra's Demise, and couldn't see why it would be a good item - I'm glad someone did this math, as it confirms what I had already thought in my head, if Demise had been a bit higher, say, 80% it may have been worth it late game.

thanks.
