Chains extend from Ares' shield, doing damage to all enemies in its path. Hitting a god shackles them to Ares, Cripples them, preventing movement abilities, dealing the same damage every second while slowing them by 15% and buffing Ares. While shackled, Ares can fire another chain for free within 2s. Jungle Camps take an extra +40% damage.

Hello fellow Ares lovers and welcome to my guide on Smitefire!

Ares is a tanky and highly aggressive guardian. He possesses a huge amount of crowd control (Hard and soft), which helps him secure kills and/or protects him allies. He's not extremely tanky in the early phase but, he have protection steroids for all the team and he can do a lot of damage without offensive items. He possesses the ability to enable the allies to deal huge AOE damage to a bunch of targets which makes him synergise well with bursty champions thanks to No escape

As a aura carrier plus your steroids with bolster defenses your entire team will be stronger , everybody loves Ares.

In his spare time between war, strife, chaos, and murder of those weaklings worms , he still have time to bang her brother´s wife Aphrodite , the goddess of beauty.

If you are looking for play a nearly OP lategame Tank with abusive damage(for a tank) and massive buffs for your team , you dont need to pick nothing but ares, the Manliest and badass god of war. Your entire team will **** his pants when you pick him

This is your passive and the reason why you are the perfect aura carrier, you can stack a impressive amount of magic power with this.


This is your bread and butter skill , you can do dirty amounts of damage if you hit your 3 chains also you will gain a speed buff and put on a hard speed debuff. The better part of this is after you hit those cowards like or ,they can not jump backwards or dash. 99% of the time you will max this first for the high damage and utility right away after your Ult and dont dare to use this against minions.

A very useful ability not just for you, but for your teammates as well. You wanna use this right away after landed your chains for a extra toughness for your team. Usually this will be your last skill to max , the utility and CC reduction rocks but you can´t give up on damage early if u wanna put real pressure on enemys with and .

An amazing ability that allows you to run whilst casting it on those scumbags , also if you have build a Gem of isolation you will taste the desperation of the enemy trying to run away from you without success. Notice that part of the damage are by % of total hp , even those weaklings tanks and life stackers will suffer with your fire. Use this while chasing a coward rat who was reached by your chains, to put out of his misery. We are maxing this in second place after your ult.


Ares throws chains out to all enemy gods in an area around him. All enemies hit by the chains are pulled to and suffer a painfull death :D Sadly , those ****ing Beads can counter it. Anyway if the enemy team is filled with bunch of ******* beads carriers dont panic , this dont mean that you will not wreck the enemy team , just mean you will mess up them less often.
Use this to initiate , HARD CC your enemys and put them out of position.

Beads has a 120 second cooldown and has a 90 second cooldown so, after casting the enemy will be forced to use their Beads. You can abuse the window without those fraking beads raising up your CDR. lvl up this whenever you can. Notice sometimes maybe you may want to focus on you others skills first if you find your enemy comp has a lot of ******* like chang'e (natural kit to avoid cc)


Playing Ares you will find a surprising number of douchebags that think still have a chance dueling against you in some phases of the game. If you did a facecheck while roaming in the jungle, and found a and other idiots like him i encourage you to bait him , run to him face as you were a autoatacker moar and land your chains in enemy face when you cant miss if you dont find comfortable with shackles yet, once your 3 chains reach your enemy, usually they will start to run for his life like a *******, proceeds to chase them and their ***.



REMEMBER: LAND YOUR -> BUFF UP -> CHASE THOSE RATS with

Team Work

As Ares you can think you have to destroy the entire enemy team but remember, your teammates also want to bathe in the blood of those worms.

It would be rude kill you all, so you are going to initiate so your comrades can join to the carnage.

After iniciate you MUST land your (the more the merrier) and buff up your team
Then begins to wreak havoc with ,you better focus first on those cowards weaklings like and other rats in the business of jumping into your squishy partner.

If you have not the upper hand engaging you can ----> ---> ----> ----> -->
(extra inicial tankiness in your team and good aoe damage , then use your chains and deny retreat of the survivors)

Feel free to enjoy you manliness tower diving like a boss , Ulting them for put their *** out and savor the carnage in your team hands.

Items

Building Ares with Aura items let you become a serious threat for your enemy and mostly of the time a MVP for your team (Buffs from your items, granting your team protections with Bolster Defenses and a huge ammount of utility by your kit)

Reinforced greaves m

This is a solid core item for all Tanks , also for Ares. It offer great Movement Speed off combat(epic for initiators) and good Tankyness. The only reason for not choose this ,are this babies--> Shoes of focus , sometimes you feel like you really need to max your CDR to mess up those cowards avoiders.

NOTE: Some comrades have already slaughtered huge numbers of worms , they already know how the war must be done so they may buy instead for the extra gold income. (conquest mode)


Absolute Core item , i just cant imagine a scenario where this item is not a MUST BUY.
This item gives you Magical Resist and will help you defend against mid lane ganks and Magical dealing gods. With your pasive this baby give you a high amount of magic power and also you debuff your enemys magical protection. Learn to love it.

This item gives you very good tankyness, nice hp boost and will help your entire team while buff your magic power up by passive as well.


Another Aura item for increasing the amount of damage you will be able deal. Not only will it increase your damage but it will also increase the Magical Power of your team.
Obviously the value of this item scale hard if your team have more magic power gods.
A bit of magical lifesteal its a nice bonus.


Another Aura item, it gives you a good tankiness and an Aura which will synergize with your passive giving you a boost on damage. Also helpful to clear minions. This item its a very solid second pick when laning up against strong Physical Damage dealing gods.

My preference the best magical protection item, it gives you a lot of HP, tankiness and a lifesaver passive. This item its a very solid pick for lategame team fights, also when you feel your its not enough anymore to hold those Magical fed monsters.

This Item is awesome for MAX CDR builds pairing it with Shoes of focus. The amount of armor and mana is impressive to fix the early mana issues of ares. Picking this item after your shoes give you the desired 40%CDR. You will be ready for ULT 'them all.


This item will double the amount of frustration you offer. When chasing an enemy you can firstly use Shackles for the built-in slow and then follow up with Searing Flesh to further slow those cowards enemies.

This item works when you need increase your hp pool and you can´t give up on damage yet. Buying this like your last item can give you near to 100 of magical power , 600 of hp and 300 of mana. Is not hard to understand why this item is a solid situacional item.


Sometimes you need to shutdown a fed hunter, he can't obviously kill Ares but he is destroying your team(they have not your manliness ,sadly). It Gives you defense , boost up your movility and give you an aura for your passive , not a bad situacional item at all.

A magical protection item with a good bunch of Hp and a fraking aura to farm your passive?this situacional item is not good enough for you, punk? i said also this one **** with those heals lovers maggots like ?? feel free to get this one over if the enemy composition have those gods.

Raise your manliness to the sky with this item. You are , go to represent violence, force, and slaughter; the reasons of your born.
Enjoy buying this if your team are facestomping or you are fed.





Hand Of The Gods is an obvious choice for tanks. Nice and easy way to clear lanes, and get some extra gold.You can take over for secure fire giant and gold fury.


This active is priceless for Ares , let you blink in those enemies faces and them. Players with brain tend to separate to avoid being drawn together if you are running towards them like a Madman. Blinking you have more chances to take them out of position.



Not a bad pick for initiators this active will help you land better ults and give your team more chances of retreat and chase. Depends on your personal preference and the enemy team you can pick also . could be stronger against teams with or .

Learn the basics to dominate your lane (conquest )



Ares belongs to the duo lane , you will be the guardian of a hunter , your tasks like a support will be:

-protect your lane mate
-disturb the enemy farm
-Help your team to secure objetives (fire giant , gold fury)
-provide intel for your team with wards.
-push your lane and destroy the enemy tower
-wreck those weaklings enemies who dare to farm in your lane.


TO START , CHOOSE YOUR STARTER PACK FOR FULFILL DESTRUCTION:

Watcher's gift is a great Support item to start with, the disadvantage is, that you are squishy for a tank. Always your ADC last hits minions, you earn the same amount of gold as he did ,also you gain another piece of gold every five seconds. your inicial purchase followed by give you a strong gold income to buy your core items.

Mark of the vanguard is a great tank item to start if you are new , or a bloodthirsty madman. If you play agressive you will be hurt by those minions (OP minions), the passive of the item helps a lot to mitigate damage.

healing potions I encourage you to always pick over in your starter pack , most of the time you will buy so , the more time in the lane, the more gold in your pocket when you make your first back.

Hands of gods you will use this to clear the mana camp and give the buff to your lane mate at the start of the game, also you will use to secure Harpies and other camps during the game. if you upgrade it on level 3 you can instant kill the Firegiant or Gold Fury when they are below 25% of hp, the hpbar will turns yellow in the moment you can crush them.

Ward You always should place wards , in fact the whole team have to place wards. Its worth it buying 2 at the start. Use one of them to ward before the lane phase if you are concerned about suffer an inicial invasion.

Check your stuff and head to the enemy mana camp to put a ward near the camp (do it from a safe distance , wards have op range). Now head to your mana camp , crush it with your and and let your mate take it.( usually Mid laner and your mate will secure those Harpies in the meantime).He will pick the mana buff and both can head to the lane already.

Early Game: 1:00-12:00 minutes

Now that we're in the lane, most of it is played passively until mid game. You might be required to be aggressive but since we're just starting, let's play it safe for now. Let your Hunter clear waves and use your toolkit to disrupt and punish anyone out of position (they Pushing your lane too hard, an enemy's failed attempt to engage, or simply pushing without minions).
Visual example

You can start heading towards your mid lane and help your Mid Laner kill the harpies for extra EXP and Gold. Keep doing this every 2:00-2:30 minutes throughout the game if you feel comfortable and your mate can hold the lane, in some cases you can even help "Gank" the enemy mid lane player if he is doing the douchebag. Keep warding , your team need the intel.
(Remember when you just hit your lvl 5 , check out your enemy stuff for a chance of them into your tower)


GOALS TO ENTER ON MID-GAME ----> or + or +


Mid Game: ~12:00-24:00 minutes

You should have already finished at this point your or , and depending on how many kills you've helped with you , your . You should also already have finished.
From this point on till late game, it will be helpful to check the enemy team's composition if you haven't already to check how to build the rest of your items.

After you complete your core--> or + + you can go for some damage if your team is doing right and pick por example or
If your mid laner looses the lane or fed you can go for your
If the warrior and hunter of enemy team are dominating you should pick
after your core.

Don't stray off by yourself and remember to keep your working on Gold Fury. Don't forget to keep warding, and take down some mid harpies.

Late Game: ~24:00-End Game
From here, It's all about positioning and being annoying! Although you might be a massive god of war that's really hard to kill, never wander around by yourself. You might be but you can not kill them all if you facechek into a trap. Watch the map constantly and keep a close eye of your teammates health and mana and ultimates to engage in beneficial team fights.

Once you get a good position, and your team looks healthy , engage! Use your manliness to disrupt, stun, and pull those rats to your team. Should you be successful, if 2-3 are dead and Fire Giant is up, TAKE IT! Use your to secure it. if 3+ are dead and there's no Fire Giant, down a Phoenix to secure the game.


FIRST STEPS TO WARD:



* Black dots are lane phase wards.

* White dots are Teamwork wards, always ward on golden fury and fire giant.

* Yellow dots, are late game wards, if the towers are pushed.

* Grey dots, are just for backdooring with teleport the enemy team.

I just gonna say sth about the build.

Reinforced Greaves sucks hard you never want to buy them in any situation.

Midas Boots or Shoes of Focus.

Take Mystical Mail out,replace it with Sovereignty as long as you are not on solo lane you wont need it. Iam happy Witchblade is in your build.

Magical Protection is fine.

Well the most dmg items you listed you wont buy in in conquest because due to your passiv you alread have enough dmg to take out squishes with your chains.

Maybe add Hide of Urichin/Magis Blessing. Void Stone is with Sovereignty and Witchblade the best item on ares to add in his core build btw.
