Ninja Tabi
This item is completely viable on
Jing Wei. I finished the calculations on
Elite Ownage's Smite Builder,
and it actually raises your DPS by a considerable amount Late game. The attack speed not only allows you to get in more basics, but also allows you to crit more frequently, (which is what Jing Wei needs most). You're losing a bit of ability power, and your basics in general will do a tad less damage, but in comparison, it's all worth it for the bonus atk speed.
THIS ITEM CAN NOW BE FULL BOUGHT ON JING WEI!
If your against high clear opponents like
Izanami or
Apollo, then
Ninja Tabi is the premier item to equal their unholy wave clear. The thought of this comes with a few pros and cons:
You have higher attack speed and power, allowing for quick clear.
Bully enemies back under tower and fight their wave before they get to yours.
faster rotations and lane returning speed.
Harder to hit with moves early.
Jing Becomes incredibly mana hungry.
lose health bonus and sustain without death's toll.
May need to back incredibly early if you lose too much health or mana too fast.
the reasons to build it are there, but it's your choice to say if the risk is worth it.
Death's Toll
This item is great because of its high sustain early game.
Jing Wei's
Explosive Bolts also proc this item's passive, so every one shot on three enemy minions yields 24 health, and 9 mana. With all three crossbow bolts, this gives
72 health and
27 mana. You'll be amazed at how long you can last in the duo lane now!
Hastened Fatalis
The thing about hastened fatalis is that if you're able to hit an auto attack, it removes the basic attack movement penalty for 1 second. Top that with pen, additional movement, and attack speed, and you have yourself an overly meta item.
Hastened Fatalis went from a neish pick for noobs to A+ tier pickups on almost all hunters. The new pen that hastened gives along with the attack speed and passive give everything a hunter would want in an item. On
Jing Wei this item is exceptionally useful. It augments her kit to aid in her chasing potential with
Agility.
Until Hirez dramatically nerfs this item or they give
Jing Wei back the hastened fatalis passive on her dash, this item will probably continue to stay top tier.
For the rest of Jing Wei's items, you're going to want the following...
Crit items
Poisoned Star is a marvelous murdering machine when paired with
Jing Wei. Since she crits so frequently with her steroid, Jing wei can abuse this items passive. She will reset the slow and damage reduction every crit. Now that
Poisoned Star gives attack speed, you'll be seeing a lot more of it in play.
Poisoned Star and wind demon are both great crit items as well. Wind Demon, however functions more for your own gain, while poison star is cheaper, and can help in teamfights a lot more, (considering how low of a teamfight presence
Jing Wei has naturally).
Overall Poison star is probably the best item to go with.
Deathbringer is better if your team isn't falling behind. In a case where your team has the highest gold spoolings, waiting for this item as your last pickup is always worth it.
Other than that the community highly regards
Poisoned Star as being superior.
Rage is a whole thing all on it's own. It's making a serious comeback in casual and ranked games, mainly because her kit relies on crit burst. Building this item mid entering late game is essential, as you'll want to optimally finish stacking the bonus crit passive before poisoned star is built. This means you'll need to work on rotating to other sections of the map more frequently. But hey, that's what
Rapid Reincarnation is for! We'll see what comes of this item continuing season 4.
DeathBringer: Rating - Great
Wind Demon Wind Demon: Rating - Situational
Poisoned Star: Rating - OP
Malice: Rating - Underpowered
Rage: Rating - Great
Percentage penetration
Any item that takes a percent of your targets max defense and removes it completely. The two percentage pen items are
Titan's Bane, and
The Executioner.
The Executioner has better team oriented passive. It removes the defense of the enemy for ALL PHYSICAL players attacking them for a few seconds. The attack speed is great as well, since late game you'll probably replace
Ichaival with something more helpful late game. Titans bane however is solo penetration. Only YOU will be dealing the bonus damage because of it. This doesn't mean it's a bad item though. SKILLS now have permanent penetration, meaning a bombing from
Air Strike is now going to do a lot more than if you have no stacks on
The Executioner. Objectives will also take considerably more damage, aiding your team in timely taking down targets.
That's not to say you can't stack
The Executioner, and then ult. Get
The Executioner for all intensive purposes,
Titan's Bane is usually too slow, and a risky choice to make.
Honorable Mentions
Quin's Sais
Quin's Sais is great against high hp enemies. Usually the enemy warrior and guardian will have the kind of hp Quin's sis can take advantage of. I RARELY ever build this item now, but it could still see some use against the god
Kuzenbo.
Odysseus' Bow Provides very high attack speed and a passive which scales well along side power. It is not however a popular item as the item itself gives no power or pen. For
Jing Wei's case, this item is probably more helpful than early aggression items like Ichival and
Silverbranch Bow as you're trying to deal damage in a safe way.
One reason I recommend these two items now is that with the new
Hastened Fatalis meta,
Jing Wei has even more safety in the lane. Now she can farm safe all game and reach late game as fast as possible. Jing Wei needs that quick and easily obtained attack speed and pen to help secure mid game kills for
Rage. That being said, there's no harm in grabbing one of these bows.
Mid rotating with Jing is a wonderful thing. :3
If you REALLY want lifesteal though, Asi is the better go-to option.
Rage made a serious comeback heading into Ganeshas patch release!
Hope you all enjoy building it now as much as I am!
So to answer you question, yes, these builds are highly for competitive play, and I recommend you follow either Build 1, build 2, or build 5 for the highest functioning Jing Wei builds for ranked.
Deathbringer is a strong item, and is a must-have in any build that focuses on critical hits. However, I wouldn't get it much earlier than what BlaineSilver has set in his build. This is because of a couple of reasons:
- Deathbringer is expensive. I believe it's the most expensive Physical (power) item, at 3.2k gold.
- Deathbringer's damage output decreases severely if it's bought as a standalone critical hit item. That's because 20% is almost nothing, and you won't get much critical hits, resulting in DB's passive not being used as often.
- The cooldown on her 2, Explosive Bolts, is to long to buy DB before any other critical hit item. 14 seconds is just way to long to rely on it to add more critical hit % chance to the 20% DB provides.
Therefore, you should probably follow the build order as given. What you can do:
If the enemy has no tanks or lacks good physical defenses, you could buy Deathbringer before The Executioner, and then swap Death's Toll out for The Executioner afterwards.
Prepping for more changes coming into patch 4.6!
As always, feel free to comment on anything you have on your mind, I'm always here to reply to anyones' comments!
Just curious, why is DB not in your main S4 build after item swaps? DB is almost always the key item in any crit build, as it will drastically increase her DPS.
I understand the reasons for getting Poisoned...lower price, and in 1v1, the damage mitigation is huge. Not so helpful in teamfights. The lower crit chance is offset to a degree by her Explosive Bolts.
I understand the reasons for getting Wind...when combining with Fatalis, it gives her some amazing juking, and the 30% attack speed (when the passive is activated) is significant.
I understand the reason for getting Fatalis...if you're used to having that ability in her kit, it can be tough to live without it. The added pen is also functional.
I get it...you're always going to be substituting one function for another...but in the end, I find it tough to say that the added burst from Deathbringer is overshadowed by any one of these items.
If you really like the added attack speed from Wind Demon, another substitution (with compromises, of course) would be to switch Titan's Bane with The Executioner...and then you can still get DB. I note that you consider it situational, but damn...still essential in almost all cases not named Izanami.
Thoughts on this?
Also, it would be nice to see general skill leveling...it's completely absent from all 3 builds.
Your relic section needs to be updated to current terminology.
Love the stats section. Love it.
Ducks mentioned in a previous comment, but consider in the early game that her main clear function is going to come from Persistent Gust. With that in mind, Warrior Tabi might be the better way to go, unless your lane enemies are very low threat early game, at which point you might be able to get away with just killing the minion wave with basics. It should at least be a build option, in my opinion.
Also, sounds like you start with Ninja Tabi? If so, understood...it just looks weird, and is an unusual start. Less so in Jing's case, maybe, because of her passive getting her back to lane, so she can probably survive to get 800 gold for Death's Toll relatively quickly. Is that in fact the idea? It isn't explained.
At this point, sort of need to consider this a partial S4 update, which I think is somewhat detailed in your update status...you didn't touch matchups, which are incomplete with regard to listing all matchups, and also has some possibly incorrect/outdated info. Example, right now, Iza would be closer to a 10/10 difficulty, due to her clearing potential. You talk about mediocre pick in SPL, but right now she's been a super strong pick for early snowball.
Miswording spotted on The Executioner. You say it removes defense of the enemy for ALL players attacking them...but technically, it's physical protection reduction, and so only affects gods that deal physical damage...Also missing is pointing out other reasons for getting Titan's Bane...stronger initial hits from abilities, and higher damage to objectives.
Misspelling on Qin's.
I like the map and discussion regarding the laning phase.
Finally in the recent updates section, it says Season 4 | Patch 3.23. Assume it's Patch 4.something.
And see in those notes that you're looking into Soul Eater. Don't. XD
Anyway, solid overall guide, but could use some adjustments in my opinion. That said, it's very possible you're way better with Jing than I am. Hahaha!
I've been immersed with the overall intensity that S4 brought to Jing Wei. Her level 1 clear is rancid, and has some very low teamfight potential early and mid game.
That being said, In my highly tested opinions on how she functions, Ninja Tabi is now the safest pickup against a duo laner like Izanami or Apollo. I've personally never liked Ninja Tabi, but it's beginning to see some viability as the item can be purchased at the games start, allowing the best attack speed and power for minion clear. Against most other hunters however, the old S3 build with Death's Toll and Spiked Gauntlet (leading into Warrior Tabi) is still completely viable.
About the whole ordeal with DB, I was thinking about adding it into the S4 build, but after hearing the complaints about atk speed on PS and Wind demon, I couldn't just ignore it. No one's arguing that the DMG isn't there with Deathbringer, but it's just so expensive, and wind demon can aid in the game faster.
I could change Wind Demon to a 'situational pick' for if you're underleveled, I do agree that DB is superior.
Aside from that, I haven't forgotten about the hunter matchups yet. I was still currently testing the matchups and wanted a little more variety instead of just 'Izanami is de best'. Seems like now she's S teir, that's all anyone ever wants to play. I'll be updating the god matchups regardless though, and will make in broad terms what Izanami is capable of now.
For the new Ninja Tabi start, I was planning on adding a new section to the build explaining this new meta. This wasn't going to be unexplained for long. :p
Everything else you mentioned will be fixed coming into patch 3 of S4. I'll continue to work on keeping this guide the best for Jing Wei on SMITEFIRE. :D
Thanks for the great reply!
Yeah...poor Jing...went from top tier to basically unused...and F Iza and Apollo...I particularly hate Apollo...just don't like him, don't like playing him, etc. Anyway, unless HR does something else, you've got your work cut out for you.
So this is without testing, just theoretical numbers, but...if her clear is that awful, here are my arguments for Warrior, though it doesn't quite work out the same due to different starts. Actually, I'm just going to think through my fingers, if you don't mind.
What I feel is perfectly fine though is that Jing Wei's passive perfectly syncs with the Ninja Tabi start. Since Warrior Tabi can't be bought unless you postpone getting to lane. The great thing about the full bots start is that you can bully the ENEMY. Push up to their tower and attack the minions before yours even show up. You can then ample back as you shoot, your movement being superior over the enemies. By the time both waves clash, your ahead with all the melee minions being dead.
I'm also positive Ninja Tabi is becoming meta in the sense that under 20 different tests with real players in conquest, I was able to match, if not outclear, the enemy ADC.
If enemies attempt to bully you, you can out power them with your movement speed and basic attack power alone, leaving you relatively safe.
One of the things that I can't stress enough is how annoying it is for your buffs and the oracle harpies to be stolen from you from hunters that clear the lane with their eyes closed. Not only does this put you behind in gold, but in buffs and xp too.
I'm still keeping up with the newest SPL matches, and learning more about the new hunter meta overall. It's a dirty subject with a lot of new holes to dive into, so this is my best take at a build to keep her viable!
Hive: 4 to 12 healing per second. Jing Wei: no healing.
Does sustain not mean what I think it means? (Honest question, not trying to be sarcastic.)
I'll fix up any errors I made, as well as readdress him now with his new buff. Thanks for bringing this to my attention! :P
Now granted, 2 of the 3 builds start Death's Toll, and the meta one starts Devourer's Gauntlet, so Jing's sustain is there, just that it's with items...but he can't say her sustain is better, because he might built just as much sustain, and he does of course have the Hive HP5 (though it's low).
How much do you need to consider it high ?
Rank 1, it gives 4 hp per second, so 20 HP5.
Rank 5, it gives 12 hp per second, so 60 HP5.
The best HP5 items - Sovereignty, Stone of Gaia (without passive considered) and travel boots - gives 25 HP5.
So at rank 2, it does more HP5 than the better item for that stat, I don't think it's that low.
Another reason why AMC is very good in Assault.
first of all, the foundation for your guide is pretty great. you've got the right idea if what you need to cover for the most part.
however, i have a lot of things to say.
Build
pretty great! i still dont belive in starting with [[ninja tabi[[ as warrior is simply better for clear and you can swap warrior for ninja later, but overall, happy with that.
build:9.5/10
Guide Content
the guide has really improved ever since. however, you lack a definitive gameplay section (early, mid, late game, teamfights, objectives).
you also still fail to explain Jing Wei's flank potential. i elaborated below about flanking, and the fact that jing is one of the best flankers.
combos:
you don't gank, you flank. (In military tactics, a flanking maneuver, or flanking manoeuvre (also called a flank attack), is an attack on the sides of an opposing force. If a flanking maneuver succeeds, the opposing force would be surrounded from two or more directions, which significantly reduces the maneuverability of the outflanked force and its ability to defend itself.
Jing Wei excels at doing that in teamfights, while knocking up the enemy team and avoiding cc while focusing the squishies. )
that's all i have to say for that. i will say that your first combo is more fitting to be a flank combo, and your gank combo is a kill securing one in lane.
other than that, i have no more complaints.
guide content 7.5/10 (cause of lacking gameplay section, this robs the guide of a complete in depth summary. other than that, the guide will be pretty amazing once you add that and fix the others)
+1, good job!
-Ducks.
edit: edited to reflect guide changes.
I see what you're talking about in terms of the 'In-Depth' part. I've been working on it a lot lately, and with the testing of the new Ninja Tabi. I see what you mean about the clear as well, early game Jing Wei gets much more out of Warrior Tabi, so Ninja Tabi could be added late game.
Other than that, thanks for all the tips, you can bet i'll be making this guide even better because of it >c<
