Be sure to start in lane and not at the yellow buff so you can push up the lane. Start your 2 for maximum clear then get your 1 second.
Blink should get you a free kill the second you get to level 2. If you can continue to clear the lane first. Your jungle should be rotating through mid at this time too.
I tend to rotate to duo more than solo for easy kills.
Also try to follow the jungle around if you think he is trying to gank you can easily mess up a jungles whole game with good rotations.
I don't build much penetration because I mostly go for blowing up jungles mages and hunters. if I fight someone tanky I generally do it with a team and even alone I can out box most guardians thanks to tremors.
I used to build Stone of Buinding before Soul Reaver but this order preforms better
These are the only items I will list because they are the only items I have used. Rod of Tahuti is my go-to.
I feel like more builds should include this section.
These are items you definitely don't want to buy. (Only items that make some sort of sense)
Don't build stacks. you want as much damage as soon as possible. you can't afford to sit back in lane. You don't have to win lane you just can't sit under tower. And to be the most useful you should be rotating a lot. Farming lane minions is not something you do a lot of.
Your biggest advantage is your default tankyness so use it. Don't buy Rangda's Mask and throw that away.
You don't need Winged Blade your 1 does this already. Avoid buying most penetration items unless absolutely necessary.
Blink is better than sunder and will get you more kills.
Soul Reaver is better than Ethereal Staff although I used to build Ethereal and the build still played well especially against tanks. Consider Ethereal against a Ymir jungle.
Don't build tank items, you are a mid, not a tank.
I have tried breastplate when I felt I needed physical protection but you really don't notice it. I still got melted just the same. The way protections work in smite you really don't want to build more than you already have (You are a mage).
In general don't build any physical protection beyond Stone of Binding. The best way to deal with a hunter is use blink to close the distance quickly or use your 1 and approach from a sneaky angle.
This is what you should be running. You don;t have enough escape to properly use beads and your 1 is often enough to get you out of most crowd control. Consider beads against Ao Kuang.
Aegis sets you up for a really great counter to Thanatos's ult. Pop ages and your 1 before he lands on you. When the stun ends immediately basic attack him, stunning him. Then throw your 2 and ult at him and start tremors.
I buy Chalice of the Oracle right after I finish boots. Usually on the first back I have enough gold for both.
Sentries are situational and i buy them late game.
Have not tried Polly or Bancroft's but they both make sense. Would consider buying Bancroft's instead of of Soul Reaver and buying boots second and skipping mages blessing all together. Only problem I potentially see is the movement speed helps with rotations and since your abilities are all very close range it helps you get kills. Delaying it could be bad. If you can't use the early power spike from Bancroft's to get kills you will probably fall far behind due to lack of ability to rotate and do things outside of lane if you don't have boots.
Your basic attacks don't do much damage and your magical power is not that great as most of your damage comes from the the base damage on your abilities.. So Poly doesn't make all that much sense but I have yet to try it so it makes the list.
mantle is a good item consider it at 6 or after you sell your starter and boots.
I think the best way to deal with healing as Cabrakan is to build more damage you they die before the stun wears off... But Divine rune and Pestilence exist too. Honestly I can't see either of these working very well on Cabraken as he is an in-n-out kind of god.

Also Chronos' Pendant on Cabrakan?
Im not really sure I would consider Cabrakan even capable of being in Mid lane, you just get interrupted during clear, and your camp clear is going to be long as hell.
