Hello this is my first "guide". I am still a newbie of the game with almost 300-400 hours.Sol is one of my favorite god and i am currently trying those different builds on her.
Have one defensive item is always,i often pick Mantle of Discord cause it give 60 def on both +10% cooldown that is good cause u want spam your skill.
Usuaally i not pick 2 ring's,but have some extra movement speed is a good thing.Still not know what build would be better, if with Soul Reaver or not. Chronos' Pendant is almost an easy pick if u want go full damage with no defence.
Sorry my bad english but i am italian.
Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.

My alteration to current build: Bancroft's Talon, Shoes of the Magi, Demonic Grip, Telkhines Ring, Mantle of Discord, Obsidian Shard.
https://www.smitegame.com/news/5-13-mid-season-update-notes
This was the patch where Sol burst became less relevant. Soul Reaver lost it's true damage burst proc, and became the current version with have now, that benefits from constant ability usage and (with high pen items like Spear of the Magus which makes it very potent early game, on gods like Ah Puch, Agni etc...). Then we look at Ethereal Staff, this item was kinda like the current Soul Reaver, which is okay-ish on Sol, but now? It hardly provides much for burst. So before mid season, Sol could build into Soul Reaver and Ethereal Staff, quite nicely, pair this with Chronos' Pendant, Soul Gem (which was initially stronger when the item released, got nerfed a bit), Pen boots and Divine or Tahuti. But this build style has lost it's effectiveness, especially in regards to Ethereal Staff, and with Soul Reaver being a less stonger pick on Sol.
Take a look here: https://smiteprobuilds.com/Builds?p_filters_page=1&p_filters_search=&p_filters_god=2074&p_filters_pro=~&p_filters_opponent=~&p_filters_role=~&p_filters_league=SPL&p_filters_sort=~
All the cases of pros building Sol somewhat ability based was mostly pre-mid season (bottom of page 1, page 2), and when her passive was stronger. Since then, Demonic and especially Telkhines have been built very often on her since they're buffs, and Demonic was already built before in a lot of cases.
You are building Sol in not only in a lesser effective form, but not well either. Your second build has no percentage pen at all, making it flat out bad.
Now if you really want to build Sol ability based I suggest the following builds:
1. Bancroft's Talon, Shoes of the Magi (or Shoes of Focus), Book of Thoth, Obsidian Shard, Soul Reaver, Book of the Dead. This is the build has Wlfy used on Sol in some SPL matches since the Book of Thoth buff from post mid-season 5 patch.
2. Shoes of the Magi, Chronos' Pendant, Soul Gem, Obsidian Shard, Soul Reaver, Divine Ruin/ Rod of Tahuti.
3. (Hybrid): Bancroft's Talon, Shoes of the Magi, Book of Thoth, Obsidian Shard, Demonic Grip (or Telkhines Ring), Soul Reaver.
Now covering AA-builds, this one is typically the best: Bancroft's Talon, Shoes of the Magi, Demonic Grip, Divine Ruin (or if anti-heal is not needed get Deso or Tahuti lategame), Telkhines Ring, Obsidian Shard.
Situational/Alternative items: Mantle of Discord (you do not need this item every game), Magi's Cloak, Spear of Desolation, Shoes of Focus (only if building Thoth and Book of the Dead in a build), Rod of Tahuti, Typhon's Fang (heavily countered by anti-heal), Hastened Ring.
Build Start: Hunter's Blessing, Tiny Trinket, 2 x health and 2 x mana pots.
For Arena you can rush tier 2 bancrofts.
Also your levelling order isn't ideal in most cases. For the first 5 levels it should be: 2 > 1 > 2 > 3 > 4. Only if you're in danger of getting ganked/chased would you take the 3 at level 3.
As for maxing priority it's: 4 > 2 > 1 > 3.
Excellent write-up.
You could even build both in the same build.
