Hi
I am a lv 24 Smite player. Since about 2 weeks I am mostly playing with Thanatos.
This Guide should maybe convince more players into using Than, because he is a very helpfull God. Please, tell me what i shoud do better, it's my first guide. ;)
Hope you like it.

First to the Items.
Of course, you need boots. Reinforced Graves are nice in the beginning. they give you a nice protection in the beginning so you can escape after using your ult.
Next Hydra's Lament. This is a great item. e.g. if you use your ult to stun, but you are out of Mana, your normal attack has enought power to half-life them.
Jotuun's Wrath......I think most of you know why. ;)
Frostbound Hammer. This is also very importend. Since Thanatos can be veeery squichy, you need some life, but also attack power...so Frostbound looks very good.
Then Titan's Bane.....take that penetration. XD
Stifters shield is also nice. So, you can jump in, kill one (or two, or tree..;)), and still come out. It is made for Thanatos.
So much to the Items, the aktives you should pick your self, it just depends.
Instead of Titans Band you can also take Quin Assassins, but this build works great for me.
Pro
- insane Damage
- instant kill ultimate
- his 1 half lifes almost every mage or adc
Con
- SQUICHY
- no escape
- a lot of ks
Sooooo, he I will tell you how to play him.;)
at the beginning......
well actually always, trow in your one, hit your 3 and finish with your 4;)
i play him very ability based, so rather use it in arena then in conquest.;)
hope you liked it.
Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.

I don't know why it didn't work for you, but thanks for your Ideas.
Maybe I just Play him weird!;)
Thanks for trying, anyway.
I'll try some other builds and change mine if needed.:)
Considering this is an Arena build there are a few factors that one should consider. The items here presented aren't inherently bad.
Reinforced Greaves are definitely the shoes I'd go with for Arena and the added health can make Hydra's Lament an interesting choice simply because it adds a bit to your burst, but due to Arena's constant engages the item's value within the game is higher since you'll get more dps out of its passive. Still, I'd probably get Jotunn's Wrath before it just because it's SUCH a great item. Mail of Renewal is a fine choice as well, its passive does do a lot of work in Arena, but you can get more out of your early game if you grab a lead with Hydra's Lament (you'd also want to grab more damage later on).
Frostbound Hammer isn't optimal for the most 'meta' way of playing Thanatos, but if what you need is sticking power to your enemies, and that's working for your playstyle, it can be a fine addition to your build. Just remember that your Death Scythe does slow enemies and that your Scent of Death can give you up to 60% bonus move speed already, so slowing your enemies isn't always necessary for you to stick to them. Still, it's also a really fun item to build and this IS a game to have fun after all :]
Currently right now I'd avoid Shifter's Shield. If you want power, you'll get better damage out of Brawler's Beat Stick, and if you want defense, you can get much more out of either Hide of the Urchin or even magi's blessing (considering this build doesn't have all that much defense, that CC immunity can prove invaluable for escaping). Shifter's tries to provide both, but does a really bad job of providing either of them particularly well.
Of course, this Build is just an idea.
It is so funny seeing your enemies running back to their base at half life because they fear your Ult XD
Reinforced Greaves is fine. Nothing to say. Other boots besides Ninja Tabi would be better in my opinion (unless youre doing adc Thanatos)
Hydra's Lament is meh still. Every time I stunned I couldnt basic cause I was immediately focused and died. A Mail of Renewal can easily replace it in terms of CDR and a very useful passive including your own health passive. An ultimate followed by Death Scythe is much more better, and again you shouldnt ult with low mana, thats just a bad idea.
Jotunn's Wrath can be bought as a second item. Other than that its good.
Frostbound Hammer is so not needed on him. The physical power adds almost nothing due to scalings, and the passive cant be used. Definitely not worth the gold.
Titan's Bane is a penetration item so I cant say anything. It shouldnt be bought so late though.
I can see where you are going with Shifter's Shield but I would rather get Hide of the Urchin for more defense for adcs and mages late game.
And criticism isnt negative man, i dont know where you see the negativity from.
As you said in your guide, you wanted help, you got it.
He is an Assassin. If you tank him even more, he will lose even more of his "might "
Please, try it out, it really works great!
It took me a while to figure this guide out! Please don't be just so negativ, try it out bevor saying it us bad.
Frostbound Hammer gives you Health and power, which The other ones don't.
Just try it your self. It works for me. ;)
