Introduction

I remember watching Sonic X when I was 5 every Saturday. And then I came across Mercury. IceColdPappsi here to share with you my third guide. I recently took up Mercury after buying the Odyssey chest that featured skins from the past, and got RUN.EXE. These are just some builds I played with, and had a lot of fun with. Again, these guides are for people who are either taking up a god for the first time, or just want to have fun, hence the "For Dummies" part. On to the guide.

Pros / Cons

Mercury is a basic attack based assassin with a need for speed.

Pros
- Great Clear
- Long Range Ult
- Unique CC
- Great Team Setup
- One of the best Split Pushers

Cons
- Doesn't fit into a lot of team compositions
- Too squishy
- Late game/ takes a while to get online
- Not a lot of CC
- Fairly hard Combo

Abilities

Mercury's kit may seem like a basic assassin's, but is on a whole other level.

Passive: Fastest God Alive
The more distance Mercury travels, the more powerful his next successful basic attack will be. Also, a percentage of his movement is turned into physical power. The first part of the passive also translates into his abilities.

Ability 1: Made You Look
This is a rather small Area of Effect that gets bigger as you level it up. This is not an ability, but a glorified basic attack. You select an area, and basic attack everything in the area. This can proc item effects, and can crit!

Ability 2: Maximum Velocity
This ability has a passive that gives you more movement speed. When you activate it, you increase your attack speed. Late game, this can cap your attack speed at 2.5, which is the maximum. This is what gives him that split pushing pro. However, do not activate this to escape! I can not stress this enough, but the movement speed is a PASSIVE!

Ability 3: Special Delivery
You dash forward. Hitting minions will just make you pass through them. When you hit a god, you spin around them, stunning them for a second, then throwing them wherever you are looking. Throwing them at a wall can open them to a quick few basic attacks or your 1. It is used best when throwing them towards your team for good poke before they dash, or for the kill. This ability can kill.

Ability 4: Sonic Boom
This ult has one of the longest ranges in the game, beaten out by Janus. When you activate this, you channel it for a few seconds as it grows in length. You can fire it at any time, and when you hit a god, they spin around, disoriented. There are three ways to use this. You can use it to pass through towers if you encounter a tower hugger, as you are too fast for them to track and target. You can use it in front of a wall so that even though it looks like you will run into the wall, you can move out of the way of the wall to find that your ult has charged immensely. Lastly, you can fire it in a 1v1 right after you activate it so that they'll get damaged, and you'll be right behind them for you to do your 3, smack them next to a wall, use your 1 for a possible crit and finish them off.

Items

With the removal of Golden Bow, Mercury players see him as useless trash, as he now has no more potential. These builds are here to fill that Golden Bow void in your heart. Just like my last guide, these builds are supposed to ignore the meta. The meta is for diamond players that are grand masters in conquest. I'm still in the qualifiers. These are just builds that I've had fun using, as the enemy never suspects them.

Build 1: Super Sanik
This build is all about speed. Hastened Fatalis gives that boost of speed that Mercury needs to be able to chase down opponents, because it makes you faster the more you punch people. Wind Demon gives him more movement speed after each crit, which again, turns into more power. If you are falling behind, you can switch Malice for Masamune Nowadays, it is such an underpicked item. Due to assassin's natural squishiness, it give them an advantage against more beefier gods. Deathbringer has to stay because it sometimes gives you a 1000+ crit. However, you can switch it for Poison Star if you are really far behind and need some more help killing opponents, because it has a nice built in CC that allows you to catch up to them if they're running, or to dish more damage in a 1v1.

Build 2: Slow and Steady
This build is the hybrid build. Damage, utility, CC. Transcendence was included because it gives a big spike in power due to the fact that both Ninja Tabi and Jotunn's Wrath have mana. With Wind Demon and Poisoned Star, one crit will make you faster, which makes you also more powerful, and your enemy slower and weaker. If you are behind, the Feeding section gives some great backup. Winged Blade doesn't only make you immune to slows every some seconds, but also gives you health and CC reduction for survivability. Also, with Runeforged Hammer, one crit will make your opponent slower, causing them to take more damage from all sources. Saying that you use your 3 and throw them into your team or minions, then get a basic off on them that crits, the minions and you will deal a percentage more damage.

Build 3: Knuckles
This build is the bruiser of the three. Qin's Sais makes your basic attacks do true damage to your opponents, or damage based on maximum health. When fighting against tankier characters, this renders their protections useless. Paired with The Executioner, a third of their protections will be reduced for a time, making them more susceptible to your team's damage. On the other note, Odysseus' Bow will make your basics chain lightning, making quick work of minions, and giving you more of a team fight presence. Titan's Bane replaces The Executioner in the penetration department because it doesn't require stacks, but just gives you the third of penetration. Lastly, Malice will make your crits do Damage Over Time, which can sometimes kill fleeing opponents.

Build 4: Shadow
Lifesteal is not uncommon. On basic attack based ones, it is a go-to. Of course, the usual crit. The Executioner gives you some nice attack speed. Bloodforge is the last item, but the most beneficial. After every kill, which won't be hard because you're fed, you get a shield. On the other side, you will almost completly different items. Wind Demon and Poison Star will take up the crit spot. Asi replaces Bloodforge in lifesteal, as its passive procs when you reach low health, and also gives some attack speed. Lastly, Titan's Bane is your penetration in this build.

Final Words

In my opinion, Mercury has potential. You can't stop playing a god just because one item got removed. I don't like to include relics in my guides because every one has their preference. On that note, Sprint works well with Mercury's passive. If you have something, please let me know in your comment, but be nice. If you'd like to, peep out my last two guides on Ravana and Agni. Thank you for reading this far. Always remember that after every game, to take a break and drink a tall glass of IceColdPappsi.
