Swap Round Shield for Enchanted Kusari if the lane opponent is magical.
こんにちは ございます, I'm back with a new guide. This guide will examine the first Japanese Goddess and the first god of Season 3. Let me introduce the Goddess of the Sun and one of the most powerful Kami of Japan, Amaterasu.
Note: you don't have to follow this guide to the smallest detail. These are suggestions on how to play Amaterasu. I encourage you to look at the comment section below and other tips.
After three successful auto-attacks on a target, they gain a debuff. This debuff makes all sources of damage do more to that target and all enemies near them for a short duration until the debuff resets. |
Every time this ability is active, you get HoT, Healing over Time, plus something a little more. In Benevolence Stance you gain additional Movement Speed, while in Valor stance you get additional Physical Power. Since this ability is an Aura, your teammates get these benefits if they are close to her, making some interesting team fights. |
Your shield and clearing ability. When you activate this ability, you gain a shield that mitigates any damage you take for the duration. When the time is up, it fires a projectile. Now, the ability becomes interesting after you give or take damage; the mirror gains a charge the mirror will increase the amount of damage the shot does. You can also fire the shot early by pressing the ability button again. |
Your dash and silence. Amaterasu charges forward, passing through any minion but stopping at the first enemy god she hits and silencing them for a duration. Utilize this as your initiation or escape if no one gets in the way when you try to escape. |
Amaterasu jumps and slashes three times, dealing damage to whoever is in the cone of the attack. The first strike deals damage; on the second, the damage becomes amplified; on the third strike, the enemy is stunned for a couple of seconds. Note: the combo will break if you miss or manage to get out of the cone, so the stun or increased damage will not go off if they are out of it. |
Amaterasu can be built in many different ways, not just based on the role but also on the playstyle you want to utilize. With the many avenues that Amaterasu can take her build, she can be an excellent starter warrior for people just getting into the game.
With Ama's passive providing more damage against a target, she uses her basic attacks to stay alive and take out her enemies quickly. Every basic attack against an enemy provides health and mana back. At Lvl 20, we will upgrade this to Death's Embrace to take those stats and effect even more potent. |
While in the Jungle, you deal additional damage to jungle monsters; once the Large Jungle Monster dies, a vision ward spawns where the Jungle minion dies for a short duration. At Lvl 20, we will upgrade this to Protector Of The Jungle for additional percentage power and protections, perfect for Amaterasu's front-line playstyle. |
A viable starter for Support. While near an ally god, you gain a portion of the gold their last hit. While away, you gain stacks of protections that slowly diminish while an ally god is within a certain radius. At Lvl 20, we will upgrade this to animosity to give your auto attacks deal additional damage based on a percentage of your health. |
Perfect for an auto-attack fighter. Once below a certain health threshold, your damage and attack speed spike for a short duration. Note: Since this ability has no cooldown, the effect can be used multiple times in one encounter as long as you can heal and get your health back above the threshold. |
Great for Amaterasu and her allies. Upon being purchased, this item provides an aura of increased attack speed to all ally gods within a radius around Amaterasu. This item also plays nicely into Ama's aura mechanics. |
Due to Ama's hybrid playstyle, items that benefit from your basic attacks work great with her. Benevolent stance, plus this item, and her passive, will offer a large amount of damage if you can continue the harassment during a fight. |
Any enemy god you hit with a basic attack will steal a chunk of physical protection and apply it to yourself that can stack up to three times. Combining this with your passive, you can take down a target in no time. Note: only available to physical melee gods. |
Once you hit an enemy with a damaging ability, you deal additional flat plus percentage damage. Since Amaterasu uses both ability and auto damage, having this item is great if you want to be more offensive. |
Every basic attack against an enemy god will deal additional damage based on the target's health percentage. Additionally, the damage dealt if the target's health is above 2000hp and scale-up proportionally the more health they have. Use this when the enemies are a bit too tanky. |
Use this when the enemy team has a lot of auto-attack damage. All enemy gods have their attack speed reduced once they enter this item's aura range. |
All ally gods close to you gain physical protection and HpS since Amaterasu provides more aggressive aura effects, which gives her some defensive potential. |
Simular to Soverntiey. All ally gods close to you gain magical protection and MpS. Usually bought together, having these two will make Ama tankier and give her teammates needed protection. Depending on how the game is going, you want to either |
Caduceus Shield
Caduceus Shield | While usually intended for the support role, it also has a place for any warrior with a healing ability. In an aura around you, all healing is increased by a percentage. |
While many have dismissed this item after its rework at first, Season 9 found a way to make its way back into the public consciousness. After a short cooldown, you gain a stack that provides one block for one auto-attack. The more stacks you can hold up to three for every 100 physical and magical protection you have. |
Once you hit a health threshold, the lifesteal percentage of your basics increases for a short duration before going on cooldown. |
An item against squishy enemies. Every basic attack reduces the physical protection by a percentage that stacks up to 3 times. This item is good against targets not built into protections or health items. Once your passive goes off, the damage will see a significant boost. |
Enemy physical protections become reduced if they stay within the debuff radius. |
Similar to Void Shield but with a different effect. Take this item if the enemy team is heavily magical-focused. Their magical damage reduces when you get close to a magical enemy god. |
Providing many protections and cooldown reductions is good, but its effect is better. When below the health threshold, you become CC immune and send out a wave that stuns all enemies near you, allowing for an escape or counterattack. |
shield of regrowth
Shield of Regrowth |
Ama is already fast, but if you want to go more quickly. Want to make a quick escape or ambush enemies? Then pop Divine Presence and watch as you gain a significant speed boost. Note: Swap to your Benevolence stance to gain an even better speed boost. |
Each kill and assist provides a stack of physical and magical protection. At max stacks, it upgrades and gains a new effect: you gain a health bubble that increases the longer you don't take damage out of combat. |
An alternative defense item if you're against a lot of crowd control. Once bought, this item provides a bubble that makes you immune to the first hard CC that hits you; once down, it takes time for the bubble to recharge, so be careful if you don't want to get CC'ed to death. |
Your auto-attacks now provide additional percent physical penetration. This effect works on all enemies and even jungle bosses. |
Another alternative magical defense if you want to go faster. When an enemy dies, you and any ally near you gain stacks of movement and attack speed. Combining this with your Benevelance stance, you'll have the whole team zooming around the map. |
After using your ultimate, you gain a health shield that explodes and damages any enemies standing too close after a short duration or depleted to zero. Since Amaterasu will start a fight with his ultimate, the health shield increases his presence during a team fight, especially while he's in the middle of it. |
Have trouble with enemy healing? Their healing percentage gets reduced when you get near an enemy god until they get far enough away from you. |
Amaterasu is best when against gods who can't sustain well, are too tanky for their own good, and have channeling abilities. On the other hand, Ama has a hard time with gods who have multiple hard CCs and can apply constant annoying damage even at a distance. Here's a small sample of gods that Amaterasu has a favorable and unfavorable match-up against:
King Arthur can't deal with hard CC effects like silences and stuns, which Ama has. Coupled with the fact that Arthur has no sustain, it is easier to apply pressure on an Arthur player during the laning phase, where you can start punishing. Use Glorious Charge to silence Arthur's abilities, Bladestorm, and force him into a cooldown. |
While Cthulhu highlights his high tankiness and zoning, that doesn't matter to Ama. Getting close to Cthulhu and activating your passive is already bad enough for him since that damage from all sources against him is greater. Suppose a Cthulhu player tries to use The Mire or Rushing Terror to widen the gap. In that case, Ama can dash to stay within range or silence his channeled abilities. |
Ama can out-sustain Guan as well as avoid both of his devastating abilities Taolu Assault and Cavalry Charge through her silence or her own ultimate. Still, remember that he can reduce his cooldowns on non-ultimate abilities, so be aware he can spam abilities quicker. |
Rushing his target, dealing severe damage through multiple abilities, and healing himself make Achillies a threat to Ama. That's not all; if he deals enough damage, he can use his ult to execute them for an instant kill. Keep him at a distance until he uses up Shield of Achilles so that you can go on the offensive without the fear of being stunned. |
High defense, sustain, and multiple hard CC effects are already harmful. Still, Artio also has the constant damage to back that up. Try to negate her ability to lock you down with CC cleanses abilities, relics like Purification Beads, or items like Magi's Cloak. |
The Bully King himself. High long-ranged and area damage, multiple hard and soft CCs, and an ultimate can take him out of battle to heal. Wait for him to engage with his hard CC from 72 Transformations, then lock him down with silences and stuns before he can widen the gap. |
