Sands for that cooldown and magic focus will turn into Spear of Desolation.
Beads are universally good, and vision will help you stay aware of your gank spots.
Hp pots to help with poke not stacking too much and a ward as you need to be aware. Magic pot would be okay, but I prefer wards.
Based off the recent SPL stats.
Pendulum of ages for more cooldown, and its passive grants more power. At least 50 extra power at all times + its base 90.
Spear is a good cost-effective 1st item.
Divine Ruin for anti-heal.
Rot of Tauti as a Glyph.
Soul Reaver for its passive.
Obsidian Shard for pen and its passive for your 1.
Upgrading your 3 at level is also perfectly okay and is what most others will say is preferable.
Getting your 1 online gives it extra projectiles and allows you to clear lane no problem.
1 priority the 3 as it will let your escape and kill confirmed ability have a much lower cooldown.

Upgrading your starter usually is better, but Chronos passive is my personal go to. So instead of a fourth item, sell your starter at the perfect time to get Chronos. (This isn't necessary so leveling pendulum of ages instead is perfectly okay and preferred by most.)
Spear of Deso is just more cost-efficient and better in the long run than Doom Orb, but if you're ahead in gold early its not a horrible idea to forsake a different item from Doom Orb than Spear
Divine Ruin for Anti-Heal, the Pen is nice too.
Rod of Tauti is just grat in every way, power, pen, mp5, its just great to get.
Staff of Myradin gives great stats, and every 45 seconds you get its passive as you never have to worry about your ult being on cooldown(most of the time)
Obsidian is awesome. Stats and pen passive on your 1.
Tiamat is not an easy god to play at first. As you get used to her, you will understand that she requires you to learn more about other gods and her. I hope this guide will help you as I struggled a lot while learning her, and I still have much to learn, but this is all I know so far.
I am also making builds for other gods I enjoy, such as Charybdis, Khepri, and Tyr when I learn more about him.
Let me know if you wish for more details on something and I can add it to the guide. Suggestions to a build I will also try and implement.
Make sure to read her abilities.
Her 1 in ground stance absorbs a duplicate buff allowing someone else to pick another up if you kill that minion with it with this ability.
Her 3 in flight form allows you to jump over walls so make use of that if needed.
Her Ult has 3 choices
- 1 for lane clearing and siege
- 2 for a 1v1 or 2v2 or even a chase
- 3 for team fights
Play it safe and don't overextend, you won't have your escape(unless you choose to level 3 instead of 1).
Don't back until you can get your spear of desolation, if the enemy mid is killed you may be able to clear lane and back(recall) in time to get your Tier 2 item to put you ahead (or keep you on the same level if enemy mid had enough gold).
Once you have your Ult it's a good idea to keep the practice of using it to send your lizard minions to help your regular minions while you back. This also gives you credit for the deaths(or assists) as they are your minions. This can also be used when you back to send them down your allies' lanes (I prefer solo as it takes them more time to kill your minions whereas the enemy carry could do it quicker).
Try to keep your 2 buffs on as much as you can, absorbing the green buff and then taking red makes you quite the powerhouse and helps mitigate those early-mid game problems.

If you want Pendant: Focus > Pendant > Divine/Deso > Reaver > Coin/Shard > Tahuti
Besides that’s just my personal build that I use I’m editing it for the more traditional builds that pros/meta builds have.
Edit : [Fixed to have the recent Meta build at the top]
Also, I really don't see why you would wait until level 5 with point-skipping to put an additional point into your 1...generally IMO I would just put a point into the 3 at level 4 (acknowledging that you do say that's okay also).
I’ve been able to play extra safe without my escape and get my 1 to level 3 with the extra projectiles, then after that clearing lane because so much easier and I have my Ult. So I skip level 4 and level 1 and 4 at level 5.
But I have also found that good synergy with your jungle mitigates the clearing of lane problem and can build 1-2-3-1-4.
The selling for chronos is still an experiment, and honestly it’s very game dependent on if you are behind or ahead in terms of gold. So I’ll definitely try to figure a better place for it. It may not be worth it as I feel it’s passive is only as good as how long in the game you have it. I find that 16-22 minute time frame gets the most out of it assuming you go for a 36-45 minute game.
The other comment made me realize I should suggest meta build first so I’ll keep working on my own till I can back it up with more test plays.
(Comment with mobile so no clue if it’s coherent)
Honestly, the only times Chronos is fully worth are when you're casting immediately on CD...otherwise, CDR in general goes to waste. I just say that at least by level 20, if you were to take Chronos or Pendulum side by side, you should generally get more out of Pendulum. I'm definitely a fan of Chronos, but when I pick that item up, it's usually when I'm going for Conduit Gem / Gem of Focus.
Thank you for the advice.
The extra 8% penetration negates Obsidian Shard's passive due to overcapping, and the passive is difficult to find value with on Tiamat in my opinion. While you could replace Obsidian Shard with Charon's Coin, I agree with Kriega in saying that Soul Reaver is a strong item for her, and should be prioritized over Staff of Myrddin.
So my recommended edit of your personal build would be:
Sands of Time ---> Can build into Pendulum of Ages or The Alternate Timeline
Chronos' Pendant
Divine Ruin
Charon's Coin or Obsidian Shard
Soul Reaver
Rod of Tahuti
Also, a little "fun fact" about Tiamat that not many people know; Spear of Desolation reduces her ultimate cooldown by 3 seconds, not the 6 seconds that other normal ultimates get.
I’ll definitely give this so games and see how I feel with it. Also the Spear of desolation fact is interesting.
