Quick Intro to Odin

Hello, Just a quick intro. Odin is, in my opinion, one of the better warriors and even better gods in the game. And there are many ways to play him. I currently have him Legendary mastery working on getting him Diamond.

*Quick Disclaimer, I labeled this as a troll/fun build, but this is my normal build I use when I play Odin. In most modes (excluding Conquest). I will be adding more builds including what could be considered a normal warrior build and some for conquest at a later time*

All of Odin's abilities can be used offensively or defensively. His abilities are as follows:
- Path to Valhalla is Odin's passive, you gain a temporary buff to movement speed and physical power (8% each, stacks up to 5 times) for 8 seconds anytime any God dies on the battlefield (anywhere on the map).
Used offensively to chase someone down after an enemy dies and Defensively to secure a kill and have a little extra movement speed to escape.

- Lunge is Odin's leap ability, doing damage upon landing. Combos with Raven Shout, More on that combo after ability descriptions.
Used Offensively to jump on an enemy and defensively to escape.

- Raven Shout is a temporary shield that Odin can use that also explodes causing damage equal to the remaining shield life. This ability combos with Lunge.
Used offensively as part of the Lunge/Raven shout combo, or just to clear minions while you basic attack them. and defensively to add a shield of bonus health to escape/save yourself from death by an enemy ability (including execution from Thanatos and Ao Kuang if it gets you above the execution threshold that is.)

- Gungnir's Might is an ability that does damage and slows in an area around Odin.
Used offensively to do damage and slow to continue damaging them and defensively to slow an enemy that is chasing.

- Ring of Spears is Odin's ultimate ability, It creates a ring wall around Odin that is impassable without a leap ability or the relic Phantom Veil. This Ability also has permanent stacks, to where if an enemy dies within the Ring, then Odin gains 5 physical power per each death within. Maxing at 10 stacks (50 power).
Used Offensively to trap enemies to attack them and defensively to trap enemies that are chasing.

Ability use

The combo of Ravens shout and Lunge works by activating Raven Shout and then using Lunge to land on an enemy. Anytime you use Lunge with Raven Shout the shield with explode upon landing. It is best used when you are not taking damage, that way the shield health (and subsequent damage) are at the maximum amount.

You would want to use this combo, then use Gungnir's Might to slow them down, and if necessary use your ultimate.

Item Reasoning - Build 1 - Troll-din

This is a build that all about having fun, I normally do pretty well with it (kill wise) and have a lot of fun doing it. Its all about attack speed with some Critical. I know many people wont agree, but I like to play warriors (some not all) with similar builds to this as opposed to tanky-ness. And Odin is a good one to play this style, especially with his power increases/buffs (passive and ult stacks).

I'm not going to get into each item individually, you can see what they do by looking at them. The build is mainly attack speed with some critical strike.

-Purchase order 1: You could easily replace Stone of Gaia with another health/protection item, or for-go that and get another Power/atk spd or crit item.
Also depending on how many slows the enemy team has, I switch out Hastened Fatalis with Winged Blade.

-Purchase order 2: I (randomly with no cause) also use this build when going attack speed focus. Depending on if the enemies are mostly magical or physical I will switch out Ichaival with Silverbranch Bow. Both could also work just don't get Executioner.

Additionally, any build with attack speed and critical could be fun on Odin, and a lot of warriors ( Sun Wukong, Erlang Shen and Osiris to name a few).

Item Reasoning - Build 2 - Warrior

Again, I'm not going into each item here, most are reasonably self explanatory.

1. Transcendence for the stacks to power and for mana.
Boots and Masamune for power, masamune also adds small health increase and passive for protections
Other items health/protections with some Cooldown reduction.
Last item (and some of the others) can be situational and can be whatever you'd like/need to add.

2. Protections and some health, with power and pen. Gauntlet of Thebes was just thrown in and can be subbed according.

Ability Selection

This is the ability selection choices I make.

I mainly focus the combo Lunge and Raven Shout and upgrade those abilities when I can. I get Gungnir's Might once early for the slow. I only get Ring of Spears once also since the only thing that upgrading it increases is the attack speed reduction, which would help but I like the added damage to the Combo abilities more, and with this build you will be hitting the enemy hard and fast enough that their attack speed doesn't really matter.

Conclusion

Build 1 is a fun build to play, and is what I normally do when playing Odin. I would request trying it out for yourself before commenting, just so you can see how it works. I also play very aggressively compared to others, so this is what works well for me.

Build 2 is more of a traditional warrior/Odin Build that works for him but isn't as fun playing.

Feel free to leave any suggestions/comments.

*Disclaimer: I made this Guide originally at a different time, I have changed the builds and completely changed the chapters/wording within. Update/change made 3/7/17, so any comments before that were from a different looking guide.
*thanks to Branmuffin17 for the comment from the previous, I took some of it into consideration, but I'm also pretty hard-headed. Thanks.

Hey splitshot,

I know you said this is for fun, so I'll base my comments on that fact, because obviously attack speed Odin just really isn't optimal.

My purpose here will be to suggest specific items that might make this work better, while keeping your idea of basic attacking front and center.

Firstly, in pretty much all modes not called Assault, Stone of Gaia is just not an optimal pick. The modes you've listed are teamfight modes, not a war of attrition like Conquest or Siege, so that heal over time isn't going to be that effective. Yes, the health is nice, but while you've built 2 items that provide health, you have no protections. Getting just Hide of the Urchin will probably be better for your effective health, and would be the item I'd suggest in a build like this.

A combination of 2 items would be suggested...consider getting Runeforged Hammer as opposed to Frostbound Hammer, and Curse as one of your relics. Runeforged will give you additional health, and you already have a slow in your Gungnir's Might...Curse is just an added thing to add to slows, that can be a great option when your Ring of Spears is on CD. That potential added damage from Rune will help you AND teammates do more damage.

I'd actually suggest replacing Qin's with Rune. Why? Even with enhanced attack speed, his progression isn't great for the Qin's effect...

If you want more attack function, you might consider even dropping Jotunn's Wrath, but really, he's ability-based, so adding that one ability-based item is probably a good idea, just so your ult is up more...the good power and decent pen is also functional.

You also list Charged Bow when I think you meant to add Odysseus' Bow. Depending on how you're building, though, you might not get that much out of it, and if you DO get it, it's probably better a bit later when you've built more power. An interesting alternative, since this is a troll-ish build, would be Hastened Fatalis, as it still adds to attack speed, but allows you to stay close to the enemy...and this can help the Rune passive's proximity.

So how might I suggest a build? Hmmm...

Ninja Tabi, Hide of the Urchin, Jotunn's Wrath (or pass on this if you want), The Executioner, Runeforged Hammer, Hastened Fatalis or Odysseus' Bow or Ritual Dagger.

Or maybe think about crit, because why not? Lol... Ninja Tabi, Hide of the Urchin, The Executioner, Wind Demon, Deathbringer, Hastened Fatalis. Oh boy, I feel like a troll, but that would really throw people off, hahaha.
