Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.

It's just outdated now and with S7 item changes, the build is no longer relevant.
Full Build 1: Shoes of Focus, Spear of the Magus, Soul Reaver, Rod of Tahuti, Mantle of Discord/situational , Soul Gem (or Obsidian Shard).
Full Build 2: Book of Thoth, Shoes of the Magi, Spear of the Magus, Soul Reaver, Shaman's Ring, Book of the Dead. (If you don't want book of dead then Thoth isn't really needed on Zeus).
Other good items: Divine Ruin, Celestial Legion Helm, Magi's Cloak, Winged Blade.
Rod of Tahuti is in there too early. It should typically be your last item.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6XTX7mjiIE (recent build from prettyprime, one of the best Zeus players other than Moswal).
Unless you're fight against 3 or more tanky enemies (with 265 or more protections), I wouldn't recommend combine Spear of the Magus with Obsidian Shard.
I also recommend you build pen as 4th item in most cases or even earlier if you feel you need it earlier.
I'm not sure about this blessing you chose. I would rather much more Mage's Blessing or Attacker's Blessing
As such, there's no straight build that's terrible. Tahuti 3rd or 4th or whatever isn't bad, but then again, you might still question efficiency. Yes, it's strong, but might not other items be just as strong at that point or stronger? You always need to keep a bit more open mind to flexibility. This is why, in my explanation below, I said I just personally don't like Tahuti that early...but I'm not going to argue it. It can work. Just like almost any other offensive item.
Overall, just because a pro builds it doesn't mean it's automatically "the best."
Then there was that time I saw Pandacat build Magus, Obsidian and Demonic on pre-rework Freya this season... (4 magicals on his team, but still...)
In the same vein, I would probably not bother with Mage's Blessing either. The stats just aren't good enough. The only blessing I would consider for him outside of Conquest would probably be Attacker's Blessing, which is super quick to stack and the 10 pen is nice early. Combine that with your shoes of choice, Shoes of the Magi, and you're powering through most of an enemy's early inherent protections. If I didn't choose Attacker's, I probably would just rush shoes and bypass blessings altogether.
If you're worried about lack of MS that early, you should change your gameplay up and deploy your Chain Lightning differently, to get the slow.
As DV-8 mentioned, Soul Gem should be considered, IF you decide you need lifesteal. I'd probably argue that you'd question your need for lifesteal at all in a mode like Arena, though it will be of more benefit in Joust/Clash. In any case, SG has less power, sure, but it has some CDR that Bancroft's doesn't have, which is great for teamfight modes. And of course, the passive is easy to stack, and benefits nearby teammates when the heal goes off.
The thing is, Magus isn't necessarily the most efficient thing for him. In many cases, you'll get 1 or 2 stacks due to a couple of Lightning hits. Magus requires 5 stacks for max function. That said, even one or two stacks might be great if you've got a couple other magical damage dealers on your team, as they'll benefit from any protection reduction you apply. Magus and Shard would be situational items for me, depending on the enemy comp. Again, in most cases, probably wouldn't build them together.
Just to clarify, redundant means "it has no use." I get your concept, that Chain Lightning already has a slow...but none of the rest of your abilities do. Also, the Gem slow stacks with the Lightning slow, so you slow to a higher degree. Hence...absolutely not redundant.
In fact, Gem of Isolation is probably close to a core item for him in a teamfight mode. It gives you a wide measure of CC/control for your teammates, as well as helping with your concerns about Zeus' lack of MS. It gives an incredibly frustrating slow to his Lightning, and then reapplies the slow when you Detonate. It also makes a slow apply on your ult, giving you a higher chance of multiple hits before the enemy escapes the area.
So...again, no offense, but not even mentioning Gem of Isolation is a huge oversight. You don't have to get it every game, but you obviously haven't used it enough to understand exactly how effective it can be.

I don't see a lot of magus here.
Could you elaborate on the spear of the magus and why you'd recommend it over Bran's strategy of picking up flat pen items for squishys and a obsidian for some tanks?
Let me know if you need me to clarify anything
There's just no reason to pick up the more expensive Spear of Deso when Magus exists, and is used very well by Zeus, as for the pickup of Obsidian over Magus? I would just ask one of the pros on their stream why.
Also I explained fully on Magus regarding positives and negatives. Never said it wasn't good, just situational, and that you don't always get the max function out of it. Not sure where you think I said it's not good on him, but I might suggest you reread what I wrote like 5 times.
Deso isn't a bad choice in some situations because it has CDR, and the OP isn't building much CDR. Not that Zeus needs a lot, but in a teamfight, you can't say a bit more CDR isn't functional.
And seriously, out of everything I wrote, that's what you get out of all of my explanations? Not that I covered a lot of good points? Just that I wasn't slobbering over Magus and giving my first-born child to it for use on Zeus? LOL
Deso isn't a terrible choice, but Magus is better for damage and helps any magical teammates.
Doesen't really change what I said in the other comments.
But if you go that route, then I'd probably also get a bit of added AS, balance with physical protection as needed, and move to Demonic Grip over SotM or Ob Shard...which would be a different build than what is being proposed here.
(Mind, I'm not being pissy, I'm laughing over here)
If you want strong autos early as Zeus get bancrofts.
And yes, Bancroft in a basic-attacking Zeus would be the lifesteal item to get. Shoes, Bancroft, Demonic, Telk and some protections or Iso or something maybe.
