Hello! I'm Zeznex! Prepare to be Glorious!
I recommend that you build items in the order listed above(trans, boots, lifesteal, etc) I put the items in the order of how I recommend them, but that doesn't mean that you should always build the 1st recommended build/item, some items' values change based on the situation, team comps and playstyle. I've learned that math shows that Rage is now inferior to Malice as a single crit item, and much worse in a double crit. It's not a good pickup, it's definitely best to pick up Malice as your first or only crit item, Deathbringer as your second and if you want another it should be Wind Demon (however Qin's will usually have higher DPS, so you'll be building it for the passive.) Boxing/other items are mostly weird items, but Ichaival is a good early pick up to build after your lifesteal item (or before if you want) and sell late game. A Crit Build is better for killing squishies, while the Qin's build is better for killing tanks. Odysseus' Bow works well with Qin's in place of Executioner, but I don't always recommend it. Brawler's or Crusher are also great in the Qin's build if you want to sell Transcendence late game or instead of Executioner. You can also replace Asi if you don't value the lifesteal because it wasn't much lifesteal and you weren't using it much anyway, and you also still have Axe Stance lifesteal for boxing lifesteal (mostly 1v1) and for out of combat healing.
Sorry if the skill order isn't right, but the moral of the story is to start with a point in 3 and prioritize leveling skills by 4-1-3-2. You can put 1 point in your 2 earlier if you want.
Ullr's best ability combo is to use your 1 in axe stance, then switch to bow stance and use your 3, then 1. Once you get good at that, learn to stick a basic attack in between each ability and cancel the ending AA animation as soon as the AA shoots by using your ability. Be aggressive early, especially pre-level 5 and especially when you have Transcendence online. However, be wary of the level 5s of some hunters as they may receive a big ability while you will not receive much. Good luck, Good hunting, and Get some kills!

Secondly, is there any real sense in buying Asi and Ichaival together? Especially for a final build? These are both starter items and you end up losing overall DPS on a wide variety of opponents by not getting other items.
Let's do some experimenting, Devourer's Gauntlet gives you 10-15 more damage and 10% lifesteal than Asi even with it's pen in any "non- Transcendence" build when above 35% hp, when fully stacked. And 30-45 more if building crits with lifesteal. So while the difference is minimal, the difference is still there. Even Bloodforge, though it does 10 less damage early on, is 1200g cheaper than Ichaival and Asi put together, and getting Brawler's Beat Stick early on allows you to get more damage than those two starter items, while still being cheaper. I mean technically you get more attack speed with your build, but you also only get the 30 power, and 25 pen across 2 items.
Now if you were to build something like:
Warrior Tabi> Transcendence> Qin's Sais> Bloodforge> The Crusher> Titan's Bane
Then by comparison to your first build, the dps doesn't change much, you just end up doing 7-10 extra damage to tanks. But when compared to your Ichaival/ Asi combo, the difference in damage is phenomenal. You call the combo your non critical alternative, but you already have a quasi-unicorn build which gives you the highest dps on hunters without crits, so it's just a redundant build.
As for your Crit build:
Warrior Tabi> Devourer's Gauntlet> Qin's Sais> Malice> Titan's Bane> Deathbringer
Would work better for getting higher player damage. You can swap Titan's Bane for The Executioner if you want to keep your attack speed up. And this is all assuming you still want the lifesteal, you could opt out of it, get Transcendence, and have even more damage on your crits.
Check the damage comparison for yourself.
Your utility, and boxing items, save for Stone Cutting Sword are fine. Your first final build is fine, it's just last 2 builds bother me because you can get so much more just by getting rid of Asi and Ichaival in the same build.
I also want to make it clear that I'm not saying getting Devourer's Gauntlet over Asi is THE way to go. I merely want to dispel the myth that's been circulating around that getting Asi on it's own gives you overall significantly higher dps. This is not true. It's just easier, and cheaper to buy Asi instead.
Ullr can fight with assassins when they get in close with his axe stance which i have found out when a Loki and a Thor Ganked me to then retreating and dying as a stood to to toe.
Great guide dude
My hunters I main are:
Hou Yi
Aretmis
Ullr
I actualy like a bit of cdr on Ullr, maybe it's just me, because it worked great in seasone 2. SO maybe a Jotunn's wrath?
Not my fancy, but I'm sure you could do it!
EDIT: You could even add BoV if you really wanted to! (Ullr is by far the best hunter for that item)
Damn! theres alot of builds to go with for different playstyles. I like it alot, im just wondering tho, what would you start with if you didnt go for transcendence?
Exactly what Devampi said. I would get Warrior Tabi, Ichaival, Asi, etc, maybe Ich first then boots.
Behold! A season 3 guide! Rejoice!
Hoorah!
(item that you don't need to build and will likely sell lategame)
(Trans) - Warrior Tabi - (Ichaival) - Asi - Malice - Titan's - Deathbringer - Qin's Sais
If you don't want crit then it's more complicated, situational and up to preference. You should build the same in the beginning and replace the crit items with Brawler's or Crusher for more ability damage because of the pen. They're best against squishies where that flat 20 pen will be huge and you will build them based on if you want anti heal or not, whether it be for boxing or an actual healer. The options you have are Executioner, Odysseus' Bow or something weird like void shield, which will build by situation and preference. You can also just buy Ich early and keep it.
I recommend building Transcendence almost all the time on Ullr because he uses both the power and mana really well and is a very ability based hunter. You can even keep it late game and forego Qin's Sais (I'm not sure about the DPS difference on this, but you'll obviously still have the mana and more ability damage. It's also likely better against squishies where the Qin's passive isn't as big of a deal.)
Could you please explain when and why I would pick Soul Eater over Asi?
Generally, Soul Eater seems like the better choice for CQ since I can just build stacks quickly again and heal more easily back to full life.
I pick Asi because I'm valuing lifesteal and survivability lower and valuing DPS and abiliy higher. The 15 flat pen is the big part and it's a huge part of your damage; not having Asi is a huge blow to your DPS and damage, I find the passive really useful, especially with axe stance, and I don't like stacking, especially since you need to stack all game to get the usefulness out of Soul Eater. Overall, Asi is a cheaper item, and much better offensively and as a lifesteal item in my opinion, especially late game.
