When Xbalanque toggles on this ability, his Basic Attacks deal additional damage. When the bola hits, it splits into 2 that hit enemies up to 30 units behind the target for 37.5% damage (on-hit effects do not apply). Pressing the ability again cancels the toggle.

Xbalanque shoots 15 darts in a cone in front of him, dealing damage with each one. An enemy can be hit by 7 darts, with the other 4 doing 30% damage. Enemies hit are poisoned, taking additional damage every .5s and are Slowed.

The Builds are here so that you can somewhat know how to counter most mid laners.Now of course they could use tuning for your enemy.

Pros / Cons

PROS:Xbalanque is a hunter so he has good wave clear.
Xbalanque is a very good early-mid game character, So with a good gank you could win almost every fight with at least a kill.
Cons:Mages with high burst damage (janus,Thoth,and ah puch/more)can virtually kill you in short amounts of time.

Hi Myst,

If you're in Mid as , I think it's important that you rush your stacking item vs getting Boots first. I also think you're better served with over , which I would consider if I was ADC but not Mid.

Thing is, you want to be able to use Branching Bolas all the time for wave clear, and the mana from Trans will really help. In addition, the higher power from Trans is good for your ability damage, and you want to be able to use those abilities fairly often...that bit of CDR is helpful.

Then, when going Trans, crits aren't often best, as crits go along with a burst mentality. The thing that best emphasizes burst damage is a good AS steroid, and Xbal has none. His better direction then is power and pen, so a build direction that includes is probably better.

Getting is probably a fun thing, but...just not the best item for him there, and definitely not as something you keep in a full build. It's a bridge item, meant to be sold late, and 15 physical protection is just not much of anything. If you really want that physical protection, your better bet would probably be .

Your build against a physical Mid is far from optimal. You should almost never build a solo crit item. by itself would serve you less well than if you got for your overall DPS.

If you're set on getting crit, and you start with Wind Demon, should probably be your 2nd crit item, with coming in last.

All this together, the optimal build path for Xbal as a standard example would probably be something like:

Transcendence
Ninja Tabi
The Crusher or Asi (if lifesteal needed)
The Executioner
Qin's Sais
Bloodforge or Soul Eater or Titan's Bane

The Crusher could be sold late, or skipped altogether.

But overall, he's not the greatest choice for Mid in my opinion. His poke isn't very strong, and he has to get in closer to get good damage from his abilities, e.g. 3 hits from . I'd prefer going for , , or others.
