Typically I like to build my Loki with Hydra's Lament, just for the extra damage. It's fun. But, with the latest patch, would the Demise be a better option?

Thanks in advance

Hydra's Lament scales off of base stats while Hydra's Demise Scales off of buffs, items, etc.

Overall I think with the recent buff to Hydra's Lament it's better. If you could sport insane physical items like a full stacked Heartseeker try going for Hydra's Demise, then.

On Loki you should go penetration and Hydra's Lament, I would say that is the better build always when you are going Hydra's, because penetration items doesn't give give much when it comes to physical power. But just building physical power will make the passive do less due to damage mitigation from protections, due to you not having the penetration needed.

I need to double check, but I believe that Hydra's Demos scales off of 50% of your physical power gained from buffs and items ONLY, not including your base physical power.

I did some quick math on this and I would say that Hydra's Lament is a better item since Loki's physical power at level 20 multiplied by 1.75 is 150.5 physical damage.

For Hydra's Demise to deal the same amount of damage as Hydra's Lament, it'd require you to have an average of 50 physical power per item when you don't have any buffs, since 301/6 is ~50. Here's some quick statistics (do keep in mind however that buffs don't last forever, but the damage from Hydra's Lament remains the same at level 20):

301 physical power from items without any buffs.
246 physical power from items with red buff.
251 physical power from items with fire giant buff.
250 physical power from items with girdle buff.
205 physical power from items with red and fire giant buff.
211 physical power from items with red and girdle buff.
209 physical power from items with fire giant and girdle buff.

That's correct. Hydra's Demise only works with physical power gained from items and from buffs.

Don't forget that you lose a ton of pen by going the items with the most physical power, so the passive damage from Hydra's Demise will be mitigated a lot! (Haven't tested out how much at different amounts of protection, but I know it so much that you can't build pure physical power items. And then you are not going to get more out of the Demise than Lament unless you have red buff, 3000g pot etc.)

When building Hydra's Lament you can stack penetration and have the passive dealing true or close to true damage if you want ;)
