Hey Ya'll,
I am new to making guides so please forgive any coding error.
That being said any comments are welcome unless your a troll...
In regards to this build I am a highly aggressive player so I prefer to go with a lot of pen as it lets me cut through enemies quick as a hot knife through butter. This build has the ability to be great for support as well as a Huge Killer or in some cases kill stealer.
lets get this bad boy started..
Ah Puch is power house if played correctly, he is an extremely easy god to play however its all in the rotation and speed and build. Going through as follows I will cover a few different items that are viable and the situations in which they may benefit you.
This build has been tried and tested across all game modes and it wrecks.
Diamond Ah Puch
Pros
In arena as great as Book of Thoth is, due to the fast paced nature of the game it would not be a requirement, i will occasionally not get this item and instead go with a more pen item
the Alternate Arena build gives huge damage potential via the penetration +35 pure pen, then you get the -50 magical protection debuff via the passive on Spear of the Magus and then you get an addition 33% penetration via Obsidian Shard for example.
Odin with 150 Magical Protection
Obsidian Shard drops it to 100.5
Spear of the Magus+ Spear of Desolation drops it to 65.5
Spear of the Magus passive -50 magical protection drops it to 15.5
Fortified Scepter
Fortified Scepter is the first 2 portions of your Gem of Isolation and would be the first Item you would want to build to give you that early game damage boost.
Gem of Isolation is going to be your bread and butter for killing people, this is due to its nasty little passive of a 25% slow. Now as nice as that dirty lil passive is, dont underestimate the +90 MP and the benefits from +250 health and +10% CCR
Book of Thoth is a monster when it comes to the stacks and pretty much essential in every build for Ah Puch. You get +100 MP, +125 Mana, and +15 MP5.. and once you have your 75 stacks add 750 Mana and when you get full build you also get 3% of your mana back as MP........BANG BANG.
Rod of Tahuti is an absolute must for a mage to start with you get +125 MP and then you get the passive of +25% MP.. now its also great for Ah Puch due to him being a mana ***** and you get +30MP5
Chronos' Pendant is a great Item due to the increase of your CDR (+20%) which means you are going to be banging em faster and that health is droppin. no the 80 MP makes you hit stronger, the +25 MP5 Allows you to hit Longer, and that passive+ the 20% cdr gets you hitting faster.
Spear of the Magus is a phenomenal piece for Ah Puch due to his ability which causes a Damage of Time. You get +50 MP which a lot of folks think is pretty weak however when you add that with +15 Magic Pen and the passive with allows you to drop their Magic Protection by up to 50 (assuming you hit all 3 spells from your main combo which we will cover later) will have you cutting them down in seconds if not killing them out right in 1 combo.
Passive

Ah Puch has 2 very straight Forward combo one will involve Empty the Crypts the other will not.
Combo 1 - No Ult
Undead Surge > Fleeting Breath > Corpse Explosion
this will allow you to have 3 corpse on the ground (once you hit level 5) maximizing your combos damage out put.
Combo 2 - With Ult (Variation 1)
Empty the Crypts > Undead Surge > Fleeting Breath > Corpse Explosion
Combo 2 - with Ult (Variation 2)
Undead Surge > Fleeting Breath > Corpse Explosion > Empty the Crypts
In team fights and how does it work?
Ah Puch has phenomenal wave clear ability with his combo (without the ult) even at level 3. When running Arena after you have cleared mana camp and helped drop damage go to the center and clear the minions.
All of the abilities in the ToolBox of the beast that is Au Puch are ranged so how can he go toe to toe with someone? very simply put just bring your range in and follow your rotation same as if they are far away.
Remember however early game you are super squishy so you need to make sure to hang back unless you see a kill you know you can get and are either covered or are safe to get away after your kill.
At the start of the arena run out to mana camp and use Undead Surge and Fleeting Breath then run back and get mana. Do this again. and then after you get mana the second time wait until the camps spawns and then use your basic combo. this will allow you to have 6 corpse on the ground which just short of 1 shots the camp. By doing this it allows your team to move onto the next camp even faster, which puts you in the middle clearing minions faster.
Until you have fully purchased Gem of Isolation focus on the minions dont worry too much about the other gods as soon as you get your gem get back out there and Hammer em.
REMEMBER even though you are a beast, Au Puch is still squishy and can be easily ganked, try to stay behind your team.
At the very start of the arena purchase Fortified Scepter and the relics of your choosing based on your enemy team. Once you have purhcased your items you want to take Ah Puch and throw Undead Surge and Fleeting Breath at the mana camp right towards the middle using max range, run back this should be around 23-24 seconds left until match start. run back to mana camp and case Undead Surge and Fleeting Breath again in the same spot, run back and get mana this should be about 13 seconds left until minon spawn. run back towards the mana camp and wait until the creep spawns. Once he spawns cast your combo at close range, 1+3+2, @ this point the mana camp should be clear, proceed to help clear damage and speed camps with your basic attacks, once speed drops work your way towards the middle and use your combo 1 more time on the minions try to get Undead Surge and Fleeting Breath to land right between the groups of minions and then hit Corpse Explosion. This will clear the first wave of minions minus 1 which you can drop in 1 basic attack.
From there you will move back behind your team and focus on clearing minions, once you hit 1350 gold go back and finish Gem of Isolation, from hear you will have an exceptional annoyance to the entire enemy team due to the 25% slow. Also by this time you should be lvl 6 so you now have Empty the Crypts.
From this point you are an extremely lethal force on the field of battle. Continue poking at the enemy team with Fleeting Breath especially if they have an Aphrodite, Ra, Anubis, or Chang'e due to that lovely little stun when they heal themselves, or whoever it is hooked too.
Once you have gotten Book of Thoth and Rod of Tahuti at this point you will be able to hammer the snot out of people.
On the flip side if you opted to go with the alternate build, while you are not going to have quite as much power you are still going to be hitting just as hard if not harder due to the amount of armor pen that you have.
WATCH YOUR MANA
, REMEMBER this above all else, it will be the difference between life and death, both theirs and yours.
after you have gotten your full build <assuming you are able to max build> (depending on game length) you are a force to be reckoned with and will actually have to potentially to wipe an entire team should they decide to group up.
with the alternate build even with the max amount of magical protection you are going to be able to melt through people just remember your team as well. you need to watch the map and if possible keep in contact with your team via party chat. If however you are running with a group of Randoms, watch your map and be ever vigilant in watching your surroundings paying attention to both the enemy team as well as yours. Positioning is everything
Depending on the build you decide to go with will really determine your play style.
If you go with the 2nd build and start with
Soul Stone or Sands of Time and then the first part of Gem of Isolation
with the play style required here you are going to want to focus on killing minions and not really worrying about the other player in your lane. Once you have reached level 5 that is the time to really start hitting your enemy.
during the laning phase make sure to keep wards up to help avoid your enemy jungler ganking you.
poke at your enemy using Fleeting Breath do not follow up with Corpse Explosion (all you are trying to do is annoy them.
As your levels increase and you get your Gem of Isolation At this point you are going to be able to really harass your enemy utilizing your jungler to gank.
On the Other side.... (if you opted to leave out Book of Thoth and decide to go with more Penetration choose either Spear of Desolation or Obsidian Shard
From this point you should be pulling ahead of your enemy quite quickly, once you get your next pieces you are really going to be able to slam them. REMEMBER you must always keep your wards up as you move forward(place them in the jungle lanes leading into your lane)

Here's mine...
Sands of Time
Shoes of Focus
Book of Thoth or Warlock's Sash
Spear of the Magus
Gem of Isolation
Chronos' Pendant or Life Steal
Rod of Tahuti Final Item.
edited abilities cause im a dumb **** and mixed this comment with a project im working on zzzzz thanks Zero
while I am not saying Spear of the Magus should be dead last it is very situational on when you build it.
if you up against a team that has heavy magic prot early game then you go with spear first and if you are just utterly smashing them go with Rod of Tahuti first for that stronger smack and faster kill. My above comment was putting price into prospective as a relative amount.
Let's say this is a mirror match...yes, you'll have health and that slow, but the enemy will have a CDR and movespeed advantage. They'll ALSO have better mana sustain...you commit to T2 of Gem of Iso, and I assume you'll get mana potions to supplement...but until you get Thoth online, how do you manage your mana consumption? Let's say level 6, you'll have 650 mana. If you consume your corpses for sustain, you'll be spending 75 mana and get back 20 from it. At least it'll help your health sustain, but I just see mana issues in the early game. (or are you not talking Conquest?)
An alternate 3rd item in either situation would be to get Spear of Desolation. That 20 pen will allow you to deal true or close to true damage on a squishy god quite early in the game, with the additional CDR. It's also 700 gold cheaper than Tahuti. Get some pen first, THEN get Tahuti.
Biggest issue here is that your build order is set early-game, and if you don't do things just right, you're going to find yourself WAAAAY behind. Not saying you can't wreck with this, just that if you follow this guide and you're focused by the enemy, you're going to be playing catch-up the entire game. And man, your rotations are going to be SLOOOOOW.
For this particular build, instead of Rod of Tahuti, I'd get Chronos' Pendant, then Spear of Desolation, then Spear of the Magus (although I think Obsidian Shard may work better for him), then Rod of Tahuti.
In most cases you are not going to be going solo against a god for very long (typically Mid with Ah Puch in conquest and my team has a decent Jungler. If you coordinate with them you are able to poke and prod your enemy and harrass them long enough for you to get a good build. and then the jungle is not such a requirement.
For game modes like Clash, Siege, and Conquest especially, sacrificing boots will likely hurt you.
I would feel that not buying boots, in Arena, would only work if you have a very good front line. But yea, if it works for you, then I guess stick to it.
dont get me wrong going with Shoes of Focus is a great option as well not only do you get the 18% run speed but also 10% cdr so it is an extremely viable option. with my play style even with Ah Puch I rarely am close enough to an enemy to have to worry about it especially when you mix my play style with Gem of Isolation.
The reasoning behind not using the boots is Gem of Isolation which applies a 25% slow for 2 seconds and every time that Fleeting Breath ticks it reapplies from what I can tell (still testing this theory normally they are dead before it matters lol). so run those together and you have a total of a 6 second 25% slow(assuming my theory is correct) if not thats still 2 seconds @ 25% slow every time you hit them and if they chase you just pop another ability, there is no cooldown on the passive of this item either. so even when using boots they will still be running 7% slower than you with no boots, and when you get the 180 shot(turn and shoot) and you hit them with [[Fleeting Breath}} again thats another 6 seconds (again if theory is correct) worst case 2 seconds.
I tried the build out in an Arena with good success. I was skeptical about rushing Gem of Isolation and skipping shoes, but after playing it out I can see the appeal.
My main game mode is Conquest so I am interested to see your secondary build. I feel shoes would be needed more, and Warlock's Sash could possibly be preferred over Book of Thoth for better health sustain in lane using Hollow Ground.
Overall, a solid guide for beginners like me learning Ah Puch.
I am very glad it worked out for you though. Let me know how it goes for you when you try one of the other game modes..
+18% movement speed is a very big movement speed bonus.
