Tap each threat level to view Izanami’s threats
This is a guide on how to play as Izanami in Conquest to rack up crazy damage and turn the tables in any match. All of the contents in this guide come from first-hand experience playing in matches as well as experimenting with different item combinations. First of all, Izanami is a hunter that works best when played like an assassin when possible. She does this by hitting hard with her abilities and then finishing off with basics. Because of her unique playstyle, she might be a little difficult to pick up at first. I choose to build Izanami for mostly crit with a little bit of lifesteal and buffs to attack speed. The crit will help you shred opponents. The lifesteal will help you to stay in battle longer. The attack speed will help you to crit more often. All of the content in the guide is based on my experience while playing and being pretty successful. With that said, this may not be the most optimized build because I have not tested every single combination. This build is just what has worked very well for me.
Pros
Warrior Tabi
Pretty simple here. Build all physical power instead of Ninja Tabi.
Transcendence
Since Izanami is an ability based character, the sustained mana is a must. With this item, you will never have to go back to base because of low mana. This item is crucial for staying in the lane and farming minions during the laning phase. This will allow you to have an edge over the opponent through early to mid game.
Asi
Since the rework of this item, it has made it much more effective and the bonuses to attack speed, lifesteal, power, and penetration. That isn't even including the passive ability that gives extra lifesteal. This item will help you sustain in the late game team fights better. It is a no brainer to me.
Deathbringer
This is the standard first crit item. It just gives you everything you need in a crit build.
Poisoned Star
I chose this crit item over Wind Demon because of the slow on crits which will help to chase down your opponent. The extra attack speed also helps you to crit more often.
Qin's Sais
This item is basically just preference and the way the game is going. Use this slot to cover your needs. If you don't need anything, I chose Qin's Sais because of the increased attack speed to help crit more often, the added physical power, and most importantly, the passive. Doing an extra 3% health as damage will really help you shred your opponents and turn you into a killing machine.
Sickle Storm
This is a steroid that turns her usual wave basics into normal basics. It also gives her buffs to attack speed and damage. This is a great ability to use when boxing as it allows you to do some massive damage on the opponent. This is also your go to ability for knocking out towers. When you get a couple items built, it will only take you about 10 seconds to knock out a tower solo.
Spectral Projection
This will be your main wave clear. This is a pretty standard line ability with the added benefit of a slow. The slow effect gains intensity if you kill an enemy that is currently suffering from the effects of this ability. In the end, it can be pretty handy in trying to chase down opponents.
Fade Away
This ability is your leap. It has a small windup time before it intitiates. During this time, if you get hit, the ability will cancel. The ability also does give away your position due to a visible line on the ground. After this leap, you will be invisible for a short period of time or until you do a basic attack.
Dark Portal
This is your ult. It is decently powerful and silences enemies on a hit. The main issue with this attack is the somewhat small radius which could make landing it a little difficult. The other problem is that there is a slight delay when casting.
Tips, Tricks, and Combos
This might be the most important section for understanding how Izanami works.
She really likes to ambush opponents when ganking. If you use Fade Away, you will become invisible. Much like
Loki, this ability has a sound that goes with it so it is best to teleport far enough away where your enemy cannot hear the sound. Use this period of invisibility to sneak up behind them where you can use any range of abilities. Since you are invisible and the enemy has no idea that you are there, they will be standing still for the most part. This is the perfect time to surprise them with the
Dark Portal. After the that, hit them with
Spectral Projection to slow their escape and then activate
Sickle Storm to shred whatever health is left. If done right, this is almost always a guaranteed kill.
Just to reiterate, Fade Away is a fantastic tool for intiating. It works much like Loki's invisibility and can be used to a similarly devasting degree. You just have to make sure the enemy doesn't know you are coming. Other than the maneuver described above, your main combo is just the 2,1. This combo is used most effectively when you are just laning and an enemy gets too close or you are pushing them under their tower.
Whenever you activate Sickle Storm, most enemies will run away because they know how much damage it can do. Use this tool as a way to control where the enemy goes. If used properly in the jungle, you can completely cut off an exit path. If trying to run away from people in the jungle, use
Dark Portal to teleport through jungle walls to get away from enemies. The last thing to remember is that
Fade Away can also be used to tower dive in the mid game. Just make sure you have enough health to get back out.
All in all, Izanami is a really fun god to play as if you know how to use her. In most of the games I play, she is very close to being unstoppable 1v1 and is capable of putting up massive damage in team fights due to her wave basic.

Full build minus boots replacement:
If you're going crit (not really recommended), get wind demon/
As for your replacement items:
Dev's gauntlet should be built right after boots or not at all because of how long it takes to stack. Personally I'd just skip it because while Asi is more expensive, you don't need to stack it and it has better stats.
As I stated above, the crit route just isn't good for
WD and PS fall into the don't get crit items category.
You're missing some useful situational items like
You seem to know how Izy's kit works, but I can't recommend this build in its current state. I'd like to hear your thoughts though.
First of all, Izanami definitely works with crit builds. I haven't really tried much of an AA/pen build because what I do works really well. I am under the impression that if you do go AA/pen, you will probably lose to other hunters because Izanamis base attack speed is lower than most hunters.
Second of all, her basics do 75% damage going out and 25% damage coming back. The split damage doesn't really matter because it is more than made up for by being able to go through all targets. Essentially, you end up doing a lot more damage even if you only hit the first wave. I am pretty sure both can crit but I am not completely sure.
Third of all, Sickle Storm is up most of the time while boxing. If you don't have Sickle Storm available, you probably shouldn't initiate boxing.
As for situational items, I rarely have to deviate much from my normal build to counter certain characters so I don't have much experience in using them. I do have a lot of problems with Ao Kuang so I will try that item next time.
As I stated above, the crit route just isn't good for Izanami due to how her basics work. Sure you get extra damage via Sickle Storm, but how often is that up during a boxing match? Besides, Rage is like dev's gauntlet: get it early or don't get it at all.
WD and PS fall into the don't get crit items category.
Crit can work on Izanami.
Pretty often.
If you need CDR, get Jotunn's Wrath instead.
Surely you can't be serious.
I thought I'd give you some suggestions on the abilities section. I can't comment on the items section because I suck at building hunters.
Sickle Storm
This is a steroid that turns her usual wave basics into normal basics. It also gives her buffs to attack speed and damage. This is a great ability to use when boxing as it allows you to do some massive damage on the opponent.
You might also add that its great for towers, but not so great for minions.
Dark Portal
This is your ult. It is decently powerful and silences enemies on a hit. The main issue with this attack is the somewhat small radius which could make landing it a little difficult.
It might be worth adding that there's a delay after you activate that ability.
For your Tips, Tricks, and Combos section, I'd suggest adding paragraphs to the text to make it more readable. Also, I would suggest adding info on playing
You just have to surround the name with double brackets, like this:
Overall, the abilities section is pretty useful but could be expanded on and there should be a chapter on playing her in Conquest.
Oh boy.
