Unruly Magic

1 X
Discordia sends an orb of unruly magic to a location that damages any enemies it hits along the way. At that location it will break down into 6 minor projectiles that fire out in all directions, damaging any enemies hit and bouncing off of walls.

Ability Type: Projectile
Orb Damage: 85 / 135 / 185 / 235 / 285 (+75% of your Magical Power)
Minor Damage: 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 (+10% of your Magical Power)

Strife

2 A
Discordia creates an area of Strife that damages all enemies hit. If 2 or more enemy gods are hit at the same time they will be afflicted by Madness for 1s, forcing them to attack each other for additional damage. The same is true for minions. If only a single target of one type is hit then it becomes Rooted for 1s instead.

Ability Type: AoE
Damage: 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 / 240 (+60% of your Magical Power)
Madness Damage Per Hit: 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 (+10% of your Magical Power)

Erratic Behavior

3 B
Discordia leaps a short distance and then creates an area of confusion where she lands that persists for 5s. While inside the area she becomes stealthed, gains bonus movement speed, and her 1st and 2nd ability cooldowns are reduced by an additional amount of time every .5s she remains in the area. Attacking from the area will briefly reveal her.

Ability Type: Leap, Deployable
Movement Speed Buff: 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40%
1 & 2 Cooldown Decrease Per Tick: 0.5 / 0.75 / 1 / 1.25 / 1.5s

Cost: 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70
Cooldown: 13s
Golden Apple of Discord
5 8 13 18 20

Golden Apple of Discord

4 Y
Discordia throws her Golden Apple of Discord that damages and passes through minions and bounces off of walls. If the Apple hits an enemy god it will damage them and force them to hold the Apple. Gods holding the apple will become intolerable, causing them to be Crippled, Intoxicated while they constantly boast. At the end of the duration, the Apple will detonate, dealing damage and spreading the effects to nearby gods.

Ability Type: Projectile
Initial Damage: 125 / 150 / 175 / 200 / 225 (+50% of your Magical Power)
Detonate Damage: 200 / 250 / 300 / 350 / 400 (+60% of your Magical Power)
1st Target Duration: 2s and AoE
Spread Targets Duration: 3s and Single Target

Cost: 100
Cooldown: 90s

God Introduction

Discordia is a fun mage focused around causing chaos on the battlefield and controlling space well. This guide will teach you everything about her, from how to build her most effectively, to showing you any cool or interesting techniques.

Ability Overview

For this section, I will assume that you have already read through her kit, but I will go over certain aspects of her abilities that you may not know or parts that may be very important.

This passive is simple to understand: have top damage, get a damage buff. There's not much to state here, but don't be upset if you don't have it. Whoever gains the buff from Contest of Gods will gain a HUGE buff. On a physical god, 40 physical power at level 20 is noticeable boost in DPS for hunters and 70 magical power is a large amount for a mage- however hope that your warrior or guardian doesn't gain the buff as they will not benefit from it as much as assassins, mages, or hunters would.
This is one interesting ability given the way it functions. When clearing the minion wave, look to target the circular portion of the ability onto the enemy archer minions, if the minion wave is stationary, or aim it towards the center of the minion wave if the minion wave is moving.

One tip with Unruly Magic is to not overthink its projectiles. Yes they can deal extra damage but you will deal more damage when you directly hit an enemy with it. Another thing about this ability is that the main projectile will travel to wherever you aim it towards- this is important as so you won't accidentally aim it on your feet and be surprised that it doesn't go far. You will want to prioritize skill points into this ability first and obtain it at level 1 as it is your main wave clear tool and is also your main damaging ability.
If you're played Serqet before, Strife is at its simplest form, an easier version of Cobra's Kiss in that you deal damage to enemies and force affected enemies to damage each other. For Discordia, Strife is her main crowd control ability due to its Madness debuff and a root if on a single target. I would level this ability second as the added damage helps out Discordia's weak early game.
At first glance this ability seems like a poor escape tool with a gimmick but it is a huge part to Discordia's success. When you are within the area that is created by Erratic Behavior, you will gain movement speed, which helps you to stay mobile while in the area, and also every 0.5 seconds, you will reduce the cooldowns Unruly Magic and Strife. Abusing this feature of Erratic Behavior will increase how effective you are in fights as you will be able to send forth exploding stars after exploding stars, and root after root. The damage able to be inflicted by repeatedly casting these two abilities really adds up. For this main reason, I prefer to prioritize it second, right after Unruly Magic. Normally, I would prioritize this ability second instead of Strife but I began to value the extra early damage that Strife was able to provide. Leveling Erratic Behavior second is still a viable route though Strife is a safer bet.
This ultimate is another component to Discordia's strong zone control and damage. When landing this ability, be mindful of the slow projectile speed of the giant apple- ideally you'd want to use Golden Apple of Discord if you are in close proximity to an enemy or if your allies have applied crowd control onto an enemy. Another thing to be aware of is that if you are playing against Discordia, do not use Aegis Amulet or similar abilities on the first instance of damage from Golden Apple of Discord. Instead wait for the delayed instance of damage, as it does the most.

I recommend similar to Hou Yi and Kuzenbo, to not worry too much about the fact that you have an ability that can bounce off of walls. Most of the time it is better to just go for the straightforward hit instead of trying to be fancy and going for a bounce. Also Golden Apple of Discord has a slow travel time so chances are that your opponent will simply dodge it. One additional thing to note is that Golden Apple of Discord is not a good ultimate to secure objectives with, such as the Gold Fury and the Fire Giant. I recommend investing a skill point into this when available,
as the damage per level is decent.

Ability Combos

This section will cover how to correctly combo Discordia's abilities to get the most efficient usage out of them and to be able to inflict your damage in a quick amount of time.

Combo #1 - Standard

Combo #2 - Apple Bobber

Sidenote - Erratic Behavior

Itemization

Discordia is a damage oriented mage, and as such, magical power and magical penetration are core offensive stats to ensure that you have great damage potential. One other stat to prioritize is cooldown reduction. Cooldown reduction is fantastic on Discordia as she is very reliant on her abilities and having cooldown reduction gives her more control in fights in conjunction with Erratic Behavior being able to reduce the cooldowns of Unruly Magic and Strife. This section will cover an optimal item build and also discuss a few items and if they are worth your time or not.

Conclusion

Discordia is my new favorite goddess- she requires a bit of understanding and thought before hopping into a blind game with her and expecting to succeed. I hope that this guide has helped you pick her up and maybe even you'll love her as much as I do <3

I updated my guide with minor improvements and additions to be more relevant with the current patches. Also I updated the build for the off-meta but fun Discordia support, which is now very similar to how Elevate's support player, Dardez builds Nox in the support role. I will refrain from making huge additions until next season largely due to the new Conquest map, and the huge balance changes in the 5.1 Patch.

Cheers!

I noticed you're using the CDR suggested build I posted in your recent games, how do you like it over your pen-heavy build?

i see everyone using your core one build (ps4). So congrats!. With that said, i hate it. I started out with it, and I personally couldnt get my numbers up. And I find most ppl using it arent either and are playing her passive (so i target them). Just wondering why you wouldnt want to max her cdr out in her first 3 items, or even max it out at all?
But since her release your guide is the only useful information on her out there (forums just filled with hate rants on her). I even love your colors! Sincerely Thankyou your advice on how to play her really is perfect ( ie her 3)

Max CDR is where it's at for Discordia. It's what makes her fun and allows you to pop off combos often.

Thank you! Also while Discordia benefits from cooldown reduction, it isn't massively important as say it is to Hel. You ideally want to get as much power early on, so that your damage is relevant and threatening. If you reach maximum cooldown reduction in three items (example: Shoes of Focus, Spear of Desolation, Chronos' Pendant), you will be lacking in damage up until you build Rod of Tahuti. Also early game, Discordia is at her weakest since she won't have enough damage to kill an enemy as some other mages do, but early power items such as Book of Thoth and Shaman's Ring help in that regard.

Why is it that some how, some way every build I make and do good with someone rips it and claims they made it?

Gulfwulf (81) | November 11, 2017 10:31pm
There are only so many ways one can build a god, so I don't see how anybody can claim a build as their own.

Maybe because you're using common builds? What would we know, if your builds are Meta then you shouldn't be surprised to see someone else use it as well. And I also don't think a build is "yours" in the first place, to be fair. Alas, if it bothers you that much, consider making a guide of your own next time, before someone else does. That way, at least you can somewhat say it was "your build".

If you're talking about the mid build than I agree with zero. The mid build is generic mage 101

I've updated the colored text in my guide- hopefully I didn't cause you too much visual pain! I plan to add more content to the guide :D

So...Dann...what's your current take on how she's fitting into the meta? See her being more effective in teamfights or in Conquest laning? Better Arena/Joust or Conquest? Underpowered/overpowered?

I haven't played much in the past week (been sick and busy), and have only met her in 2 Arena games so far...but she's been one of the highest damage dealers, and this is with people I have to assume are still learning her kit...so at least in teamfight situations, she seems pretty strong.

I believe that Discordia is currently in a balanced state and would be an A+ mage in my eyes. Her main weakness is that hurt ultimate doesn't bring the same "oomph" as current meta mages do, and also her ultimate is not a good tool to secure objectives. Her early game in comparison to some of the meta mages is weak which makes her a poor mage for early fighting, and her insane damage output mainly comes in the mid to late game, where she will have magical power built up and the ability to perform an ability reset. Her control with Strife and Golden Apple of Discord makes her a threat to be considered and can even force out the enemy player's relics or ultimates to avoid being affected by the root, madness, and cripple. I hope that she doesn't get buffed since no part of her kit is significantly weak and the same can be said for nerfs since no part of her kit is overwhelmingly strong.

I've been working on this since she came out on PTS and I've been loving her and her kit. Though I feel like I could add more onto this. I'm thinking of adding a GIF of how her abilities work and perhaps a video showcasing areas were she can leap from? Suggestions for improvement are highly appreciated <3

A few line breaks would make the guide easier to read, especially in the abilities section.

Solid overview. I think your ideas are good ones... Go for it. Also... Toooooo much purple! +1

I agree too much magenta. It was actually straining my eyes.

*EDIT*: If you are going to use BBcode make sure that you don't abuse it. Your guides will actually will become almost unreadable. So if you want to color your text just do it on key important information (like a highlighter). This also applies to your Cu Chulainn guide.

Wait, there was purple in this guide? I must have missed it.
