Introduction

Apollo Online!

Hey there! Welcome to my Apollo guide. Apollo is a hunter and typically seen in the ADC and Solo roles. He is also one of the best boxers in the game. This guide is still in the making but will be complete soon. This guide is about Apollo and items you will be using. If you're wanting to learn more about conquest or just some tips I would recommend reading this this first, if you are new to conquest it will help you considerably.

Skills

Audacity - This will help you with clearing wave in early and shred people late game.

So Beautiful - Your main wave clear, max this ability out first.

Serenade - A very useful ability in boxing and setting up kills for the team. Also grants physical protections upon use.

The Moves - One of your two escapes also knocks up anyone in your way.

Across The Sky - Perfect for split pushing, engaging the enemy, or escaping. The only downfall is that it takes awhile for the chariot to arrive.

Pros / Cons

Apollo - Pros & Cons

........ Pros ........

- High mobility.
- Amazing passive.
- One of the best boxers.
- Ultimate is good for split pushing.
....... Cons .......

- Very weak early game.
- Item dependent.
- Ultimate drains mana.
- Ultimate could get you killed in certain situations.

Items

Gives 40 physical power and 18% movement speed.
Your only source of lifesteal. Gives 25 physical power and 10% lifesteal. You gain .4 physical power and .20% lifesteal for every stack. Can stack up to 75 times.
Gives 20 physical power, 15% attack speed, and 15% crit chance. Passive slows players by 20% and reduces damage by 20% percent every time you crit.
Wind Demon
Gives 30 physical power, 10% attack speed, and 20% crit chance. Every time you crit you gain an additional 20% movement and attack speed.
Gives 30 physical power. Passive gives you 33% physical penetration.
Gives 50 physical power and 20% crit chance. Passive increases all crit damage by 40%, this a major boost to your damage.

Combos

Early game

This is where the game goes really slowly and there isn't much action. Usually from the start of the game to 5-6 min. During this period you will just stay in lane with your support and farm. You will usually have full boots and one complete item by the end. Most importantly don't die! Dying will make Mid-game a little more difficult for you.

Mid-game

Typically from 5 min to around 15 min. Around the 5-6 min mark your support will rotate to go help whoever needs it. So that means you will be by yourself 1v1ing the other adc. You will more than likely have 4-5 items done. Unless you died in early game, dying more than once will drastically decrease your gold income and xp. If a team fight ever occurs just remember, you're Apollo! You can fly to the fight with Across The Sky. After the team fights just return to base or lane. Or your team could sneak a gold fury or fire giant.

Late game

15 min+ and most players will have full builds. Your whole team should start rotating together and taking towers and phoenixes. You could also try to force a fight at Fire Giant, the fight could go either way so be careful! This is basically the point where you just want to wipe the team and force a win. Do NOT leave the team and go out by yourself, unless you have your ultimate ready.

Ending/Credits

If you have any other suggestions for a build please leave a comment. Criticism-recommendations are always welcome, not hate. Good luck with Apollo!

This guide will more than likely not be getting updates throughout the summer. I will also be on the inactive side for the summer as well. Just a short announcement and everyone have a great summer!

"More than likely". The only way I'll update it is if the meta for hunters changes drastically, which never happens.

Got a suggestion for you Circles should you explain why we should pick up the main items in the build except just saying what they do?

CirclesAreRound (14) | May 17, 2017 5:59am
Maybe in the future. I'm not very good at explaining or just writing in general.

It's easier when you have Bran at your side.

Generally speaking The Executioner is more dps than Titan's Banefor hunters. Its more pen and attack speed at the tradeoff of it having to stack. But mathematically it is more dps, has been tested in game, and should be 100% bought on every hunter in the game, including skadi.

The other thing I wanted to say that triple crit is actually less dps than double crit + more pen. I dont feel like rage is as good as everyone is making it to be after its buffs, and that having an ichaival earlier in the game would give you better boxing, gives you earlier pressure, and cheapens the build price by a lot, making it affordable in arena as well as conquest, and actually does more dps. Try it out yourself, go boots, ich , lifesteal, exe, then double crit. This is the basic build for every hunter for the most part at this current time.

CirclesAreRound (14) | May 16, 2017 11:25am
Titan's Bane is just a personal preference, I value more structure damage. Exe is listed as a replacement for TB.

As for the triple crit I've been meaning to change the whole build, just haven't gotten around to it.

Thanks for the response and the reminder.

I like ur second build for appolo, i think fatalis is a waste against good opponents tho, have u ever tried grabbing quins instead?
1
CirclesAreRound (14) | April 26, 2017 3:06pm
Thank you! I buy Hastened Fatalis when I find myself boxing the opposing ADC for the majority of the game. If not, I will usually go Qin's Sais or, very rarely, The Crusher. I will add Qin's Sais in as another choice.

Starting to add some types of BB coding. I'm still new to it so it might take awhile for me to implement it into the guide.

The pictures look off to me, one of the pictures is below Pros and Cons. Maybe it's because I'm on my iPad and it messes it up, not sure.

First off, don't get Asi . That item was only good in season 3. I also don't know why you're getting Wind Demon instead of Poisoned Star . It is also a bad idea to combine The Executioner and Qin's Sais together. Pick one. You also should build Devourer's Gauntlet instead of Bloodforge . Yes, Ichaival is an item to start with, but you need to keep it and replace it with one of it's "brothers"Odyesses' bow late game. Your starter build also contains 7 items, may want to fix. You should never get Soul Eater or Malice And the skill sequence...oh god...you should ALWAYS upgrade your ultimate when possible. Do not wait to upgrade it. You also need to have all 3 abilities unlocked by level 3. It's just common sense. I do like your BB coding, but the guides are quite vauge and not very descriptive.

To keep on topic, and hopefully help for all readers, I'd like to comment on this.

Asi is definitely a bit less favored right now, depending on the build. The S4 4.1/4.2 patches have improved sustain for hunters via Death's Toll, but more importantly, other items have also gotten some buffs. Specifically, the shuriken tree that includes Poisoned Star and Wind Demon added attack speed, and we now have a magical variant of Ichaival. The biggest S3 difference between the two main lifesteal options for hunters ( Devourer's Gauntlet and Asi) was that one provided power but no attack speed, and one provided attack speed (and some flat pen) but no power. I'm not including Soul Eater (highly defensive version of lifesteal) or Bloodforge (due to cost, was a late-game option at best).

So, when there were less attack speed choices, Asi was a nice mid-game pickup...very cheap (basically a bridge item price) with a heap of attack speed, and it fit well especially with Transcendence, which already provided a lot of power but no attack speed.

Right now, Asi is in a weird place, and while it still fits in with a Transcendence build, Trans is also not the most favored except in some very specific circumstances.

Some people might opt for Poisoned Star over Wind Demon due to any of the following:
  • Already have crit in their kits, such as Artemis or Jing Wei, so can deal with the preferred minimum 40% crit chance with the slightly lower amount from Poisoned Star.

  • Want a slightly earlier power spike (due to the lower cost of Star)

  • Appreciate the honestly quite significant slow and damage mitigation from Star's passive, because they have enough movement speed in their kit that they don't really need the added amount from Wind Demon's passive.
I also want to point out that it is ABSOLUTELY not true that building The Executioner and Qin's Sais together is a bad idea. Any good hunter build should have some strong pen effect, whether from Titan's Bane or The Executioner. There are exceptions, such as you're in a very unique Joust match and you're facing 3 squishies with 0 protections being built, but otherwise, you want one of those two items. With regard to Qin's Sais, it has power, attack speed, and a passive where each hit takes of a base 4% of the enemy's max health...but this 4% is before protections and mitigations are factored in. Pen/protection reduction will have a positive effect on the passsive, making it do more damage. In addition, that Qin's passive means that it appreciates high attack speed...and The Executioner absolutely provides that. It is actually a solid combination, at least depending on the rest of the build. Don't understand where this is a bad idea.

Odysseus' Bow is a unique late-game item, but is not what most would consider core to any build. Higher power makes the passive more effective, though.

"Never" getting Malice is a personal opinion, and if someone chooses it and can explain their reasoning, I don't see the problem. Besides Deathbringer, it DOES provide the highest power of any crit item, so that in and of itself is at least some reason.

Finally, depending on the god, I don't know if your statements on always upgrading ultimate, and always having all 3 abilities unlocked by level 3 is a blanket statement, or one you're applying just to Apollo. With regard to upgrading the ultimate, well, this is again subjective. Leveling his ult is great, as you get higher damage, but that's it, and unless you buy CDR items, you've got a 110 second CD on it. His other moves have multiple uses; let's go over them.
  • So Beautiful is his wave-clear and easiest poke. Maxing first is usually preferred.

  • Serenade has a mez that increases duration as you level it, boosts his physical protection for 5 seconds, and reduces his CD. You'll likely use it multiple times between ults. I can see reasons for leveling this while delaying his ult in some cases.

  • The Moves is his escape, and does decent damage itself if you want to use it to chase. It also provides a move speed buff for him and a debuff for enemies that increases as you level it. It also builds Audacity stacks. So you could technically even blow through a minion wave, get Audacity activated and look to burst the enemy god with the attack speed boost, then if you need to get out, use Serenade to pin them down a bit to create distance.
All of these are solid reasons why you might level them and delay your ult.

Hope these comments are helpful.

Okay, with all due respect, tigey2003, but this has to stop. You've gone off to every Apollo guide you could find that is not yours and left a comment like this, without constructive criticism at that.

One of your comments has been removed already. If I see any more of this I will personally contact an Administrator and personally ask for them to take action against you and this behavior that you're showing right now.

This is a free community site, and everybody gets the chance to create their own guide, including you. We would thus like for you to keep this a fun and enjoyable environment for everybody.

Thanks in advance

Sincerely,
~Zero

Um...is what I said not constructive enough? Do I need to go further into detail as to why I dislike this guide? I was trying to be nice, but if you want me to hate on it some more...

Hey Circles,

Figure I commented on the other Apollo guide, so I'll do so here as well (and at least give you constructive feedback XD )

Anyway, here are the thoughts I have:

That's a lot of attack speed there
