Introduction

Hello! And welcome to my Scylla guide and builds!
This build is mainly for people who need something quick and effective early game, and unbeatable late game. As a rank X, I want everyone to enjoy playing her, and have a fun time blowing people up! If you're playing Scylla for the first time, I want you to know you'll be so much better than me when I first started to play her! (tbh, the very first time I played her, I thought every item from the life steal section was good! xD I also thought throwing out Sentinel did dmg... I was the best player back then)

Pros/Cons of Scylla

Pros:
High damage late game
High sustain with infinite mana
A passive that helps against certain enemy items
An ult that is an escape/one shot
Can escape almost every team fight if needed

Cons:
Very squishy god, even late game.
Is very eligible to dying once Sentinel is used
Sic' em can go right under gods that are being knocked up
Once every skill is on cooldown, escaping is almost impossible.
Ulting causes her to become a bigger target, good escape in speed, bad escape in being hit.

Skills

Passive - Quick Learner
Each of Scylla's abilities gain an additional effect at max rank. In addition, Scylla gains 20 magical power for each max rank ability. Can grant up to 80 Magical Power.

This passive is basically an item in itself. Each time a skill is maxed out, she gains power. Upgrading Scylla's Crush max first will activate the first part of this passive, granting her +20 power to everything. Items that enemies buy to reduce her power will only be reducing her passive, making it so they're not touching her actual power scalings.
Sic 'Em
Scylla sends two hounds forward, damaging, rooting, and crippling the first enemy hit.
At max rank, two additional enemies nearby the first target will also be hit.
Scylla's first ability is basically everything from engaging to surviving from being chased. After rooting an enemy using Crush right after will deal enough damage to kill(late game) or damage greatly(early game). Ulting right after is an instant kill too. Although this skill can also save your life, turning around for a quick second and throwing this skill out can root the enemy gods chasing you, giving you time to run.
Crush
Scylla creates a magical field that slows enemies. After 5s it detonates and causes damage. Scylla may activate the ability again to detonate it early.
At max rank, enemies in the area also have their Magic Protection reduced, and targets hit by the damage are Slowed for an additional 1s.

This ability is Scylla's damage. Using this skill will cause Enemy gods to either retreat or die the second they're hit by it. This ability can be used in other ways too, such as slowing enemies behind you from following and throwing it out for minion waves. This skill is Scylla's wave clear.
Sentinel
Passive: Scylla gains MP5.
Active: Scylla summons a sentinel to the target area, granting vision of enemies for 5s. Scylla may activate the ability again within 5s to move to the sentinel location.

At max rank, the vision is granted through line of sight blockers, and placement range increases.

This skill gives Scylla a second passive, is a ward, and can be a great escape. Using this skill, in my opinion, is not always great in using as a ward. Unless you are a high level, using your only escape to see a small distance is not worth it. Sentinel can also be used to engage fights and be able to ult with vision of the enemy.
Now, this is where Scylla gives depression to others.
I'm a Monster
Scylla reveals her true nature, becoming CC immune for the next 6s, and gaining movement speed. She may make one powerful attack during this time. If she kills an enemy god with the attack, she gains another 6s and may attack again.
At max rank, the movement speed bonus doubles.

This skill is one of the highest damaging skills in mages. It can be enough to one shot even though the enemy is still at full hp, and can give you enough speed to escape team fights.

Skill Combos

To master Scylla, one must know the combo. There are quite a few to know, all with great potential in getting that kill.

->

->
The second you hit them with the root, smack down with I'm a monster. Even if it doesn't kill them, they will still have to either use their aegis or run away with low health.

-> ->
Throw out your Sic 'Em, then throw out your crush. Before detonating it use your ult. They are now slowed by crush, making it easier to hit. Afterwards detonate Crush.

->
This combo is used to get a quick kill.

-> ->

->
If your ult does not manage to kill the enemy, a crush should finish them off.

(Arena, Joust, Siege) tips on starters

When it comes to Arena, starter items are not necessarily needed. You can go right ahead and buy Warlock's Sash and shoes. Some people might think it's weird, but getting stacks in that game mode is easier than it looks, call out, "I'm building stacks" and people will most likely let you have them. There are a LOT of minions in that game mode, and you won't have trouble gaining them.
However if you decide you want to go the build Gem of Isolation , buying a starter would be a good choice. The passive on the Gem of Isolation is great when it comes to constant team fights, helping your team the entire time you have it. This item tortures players with no escapes such as Artemis or Anubis in this gamemode!

For Joust, Do not get soul stone or any other starter item. Like the arena choices, get shoes and start on your Warlock's/Book of Thoth. Play like you normally do, and gain those stacks as soon as possible!

For Siege there will only be one ally in your lane so getting those minions will be easy. Make sure you gain those camps whenever they're up, they'll help get that juggernaut, which will help push the towers. Getting a starter item is optional, but I would prefer to get Soul Stone.

(For 1v1)

For a 1v1, Scylla is one of the better mages for the job. When you start, buy the items above, then continue as normal. Try and steal the enemy blue buff if they don't arrive in lane, unless they're at the damage buff. If the enemy notices you, they'll most likely stop attacking their buff and go for you in a defensive way, so try to be sneaky.

Try and stay back near your tower, you are not strong enough to do anything serious. Continue game play and get stacks on the Warlock's, once it's at half stacks you can start to aggress a little harder. If you get killed, don't worry. Scylla is a late game god, and all her power comes to her eventually.

When is comes to defense items, you are going to NEED defense against your enemy. Not only will it save your life, but it will make it easier for you since the enemy is most likely going to get defense against you too. Buying defense will make the enemy have a harder time killing you since you won't be as squishy, and let you have a better time since you are the only one dealing any real damage.

It's a good time to start building defense around the third or fourth item. The Rod of Tahuti is always the last item, your boots are the third. So it goes:

Starter item
Warlock's
boots
pen/defense
defense/pen
Rod of Tahuti

Don't worry about the fact you are losing power with the fact you are buying defense, your passive helps bring that power back.

(For Conquest) Tips on upgrading skills and successfully getting harpies + what to buy on first recall

For Scylla, early aggression can be achieved by having enough power to beat your enemy out of lane, by either killing them or forcing them back to base.

Upgrading your Crush first is the way to start any Conquest. Upgrading this first will allow you to have lane clear and a safer play. After clearing the first wave of minions, join your team to collect the red buff and return back to lane. Join your Jungler to collect the left harpies, keep your crush on the floor just in case the enemy mid laner tries to steal them. After clearing the next wave of minions, check if the right harpies are still alive, if not, return back to lane and kill the minions. The goal is to completely level up crush, then sic' em, and divide the levels between your ult and your Sentinel.

For the second upgrade on abilities, it depends on whether or not you feel safe in lane. For example, if the enemy mid laner is another Scylla, you might want to upgrade your sentinel to escape her crush or agress. If you feel safe enough to live for another level, you can upgrade your Sic' em to root the enemy mid laner and crush afterwards.
In my opinion, using Sic' em for lane clear is not a good idea, it uses up mana and is not strong enough to do any real damage to one specific minion.

On the first recall, update the warlock's/start warlock's sash and buy the chalice for wards, or, the Chalice of the Oracal if you can. Return back to mid. If your jungler has not already, collect the bottom left harpies if wanted. If the speed buff is back up, help your jungler collect it, and return to lane. If you choose to, you can go to the the bottom right harpies as well. Having your jungler to help you collect those harpies is even better.

When getting the mid harpies, put your Crush on the ground and do not activate it instantly, keep it there until you know they won't be stolen by the enemy mid laner. Afterwards return back to mid lane and do the same for the right harpies if they are not already gone.

Enemy gods and how to fight them

There are many enemy gods that can be your competition. It's time to know how to fight them in the best way possible.

God: Poseidon

This god in general is in my opinion a very hard opponent. His whirlpool is a pain to get out of, and Sentinel can be activated while in this whirlpool, but you cannot tp to it. One way to dodge Poseidon is to get the relic Sanctuary or Aegis, it will save you from the ult that comes right after the whirlpool, or the ult that might just ruin the entire game if it manages to kill you. Another option to dodge him is to get puri as your first relic, it will save you from the knockup/stun or the whirlpool of infinite slows. It is also a nice relic to get first if the enemy guardian is a Ymir or a Sylvanus, the pull/stun is long enough to kill any early game mage as long as you're in the wrong spot at the wrong time.

For items, a way to dodge this god is to buy Magi's blessingMagi's blessing, it will save you from one CC, which could be his ult or his whirlpool, you have to think this thoroughly though because the passive might be set off by a god other than Poseidon.
Buying the Warlocks instead of the Book of Thoth is also another good option since it gives you health, a way to live in many more team fights and survive his ult.

God: Raijin

Raijin is not as hard of a god to play against. As long as you dodge his basics you will be perfectly fine. However, you need to be very careful when it comes to everything else about him. His ultimate drags you closer and does tremendous damage, a way to dodge death is to get puri as first relic, using it when he ults will give you enough time to Sentinel away and stay safe.
I would not prefer Aegis as first relic since the CC might be way too much to be able to use it in time. Another relic you could get is the Bracers of Undoing, it will save you from all the damage he has done, so if he ults, right after use the relic and your hp will be restored, keeping you in lane.
To dodge Raijin, you must predict when he is going to use his teleport. The second he uses it you can use Sic' Em to stop him from doing anything else, Crush afterwards to scare him off. His ult might just be coming right after he jumps, which is never fun.

God: Hel

Even for as long as I have been playing, I have not seen Hel too many times as an enemy. Ever since her buff however, people are re-testing her strengths, maybe even starting to play her again. So it's time to know how to avoid.
Hel's light side only has heals for skills, to dodge this you can buy Divine Ruin , which will cause her healing to be almost destroyed as long as you hit her with something. If you are going to get the Divine Ruin, buy it as your third/fourth item, depending on what you prefer.
She does however come with free CC in her kit, so she can never really be hit with anything that she can see coming, such as a Ymir freeze. One way to dodge this obnoxious skill is to wait until she goes into her dark stance. Once she is try and hit her with Sic' Em, that way she cannot turn into her light stance and use that CC reduction skill. Another way to deal damage to her is to try and hit her with Sic' Em while she is not looking or paying attention to something else such as the Harpies or another teammate.

God: Ra

Ra is another well known god in the meta, and is usually seen as the enemy most of the time. Like Hel, he does heal. But he only has one healing skill, no CC reduction, and not movement skills. However his passive helps him get away from fights, which is very annoying.
To dodge Ra, Get the Divine Ruin . It will help with the healing, although it won't help with the protections it gives to allies inside. If you are going to get the Divine Ruin, buy it as your third/fourth item, depending on what you prefer. Another way to dodge him is to get the Stone of Fal, it will save you from his ultimate, and let you live another day. Be careful in choosing these items however, it will affect your power scalings.

When fighting Ra in lane, stay away from the minions. Try and stick closer to the left/right side of your lane so you don't get hit by his skills. This build doesn't give enough money for Potions, so keeping your hp high as long as you can is good. If he manages to kill the minions before you do, do not stay and basic them, run to your tower and let the tower deal with them instead of you losing hp to minions early game.
Ra has no movement skills, but his passive allows him to be faster than usual. Most enemies with no movement know how to strafe, so hitting him, or any other god, with your ult might be a little tricky if you didn't root them first.

God: Ah Puch

Ah puch is a god who early game can be very powerful. Just like Scylla, his power scalings are very high, meaning since this build cannot afford potions you might just have to back if you're not careful. When clearing minions stay to the side, you might want to upgrade Sentinel first just to get away from the explosions. His ult however is not a very big concern, as long as you stay back away from it you should not have any damage done to you. As long as you stay back and wait until late game everything will be better for you.
A way to avoid this god with items is to buy a small amount of magical defense, maybe sell it late game or mid game. You can see what I prefer above in the builds. You can also pick up the witchblade or winged blade. The passives on those items will help to avoid this certain god in particular, it might also help you from other gods if they apply stuns or heal. The passives also work great for Scylla since she can hit multiple enemy gods at once.
Ah Puch has no movement skills, so if you manage to get him to low hp it should be an easy kill for you since he is a squishy mage.

God: Anubis

Anubis's tick damage is extremely obnoxious, especially with the CC that is just like Sic' Em only without the dmg. I've been testing for awhile now on the best way to avoid this particular god without using up slots in your items. One of the best things to do is to get Aegis, or Sanctuary, as your first relic. Right after the stun if he puts the circle on the ground and ults you, use Aegis. This relic choice is better than getting Puri since right after you puri you won't be able to avoid the rest of what comes after the stun. However if you do still feel like Puri is a better choice, get it! Right after his stun, if the combos continue to come puri and then Sentinel away as fast as you can. Try your best not to lose too much hp, since you do not want to lose your lane.

(I can only do so much so fast, updates on this chapter will be soon.)

(Conquest-Joust) Warding your lane

When it comes to warding, knowing where is very important to stop your fellow teammates from getting ganked. Since Scylla does not need health/mana potions, she can instead buy the Chalice of the Oracle, which will make it so much easier to ward your lanes. One of the pros of buying this means never having to remember to buy wards, however they are not Sentry wards, so be careful in choosing whether or not you want to buy a sentry along with it.

When warding, you ward the lane that leads to the ADC and the SUPP (right/left). The jungler should be able to ward the other lanes. Calling out "Enemies incoming" (VI3,Enemies incoming right, VI2, enemies incoming middle, VI1,enemies incoming left VII, enemies incoming) will help prevent ganks as well.

In Joust, warding can help prevent the enemy from claiming the FG (Fire Giant), Buy two wards, or one sentry and one ward, or the chalice. Put the wards in the left jungle by the entrance to the FG. If you choose too, you can also place the ward in the DMG camp or in the middle of the lane.

How to help in team fights

In every Conquest, there is a teamfight you must join in in order to decide which team will stay alive. First off, you want to Sic 'Em any enemy gods that are damaging your teammates/you think you can hit. After that throwing out a crush or an ult is your choice. When fighting, you want to stay on the backlines, doing whatever damage you can without getting in the way of death. It might seem cowardly, but if your team fails in attacking just running is exactly what you should do.
Using Crush can also be used to slow enemies/get them out of a certain spot. Throwing it out to help a teammate escape is one way to help your teammates. Using Sic 'Em to root the enemies chasing your allies is also another way to be a great teammate.
Scylla's ult, I'm a monster, is extremely powerful and can be frightening to the enemy team even if you are still a level five. When ulting, you want to predict where they are going to move next in order to insure they won't just walk out of it.
If one of your teammates is at low health and is getting their face beat in, using your ult is a perfect way to stay as one giant shield. CC immunity and the frightening damage will most likely cause the enemy team just to give up that kill and run from the ult instead. WARNING: kill hungry players can be just as dangerous, and doing this can get you killed as well. Be a shield at your own risk!

If you're out of skills, the best thing you can do is stand in the way of a teammate with low hp, doing anything to save a teammate is better than getting them killed.

If you need to get away, but people are chasing right behind you, a great way to escape is to put out Sentinel and run towards the enemy base. Right before Sentinel runs out, click 3 again and teleport to Zoey. Run for the hills after that! Remember: Only do this if you know the enemies aren't at Zoey, if nobody is following you anymore, recall as fast as you can. They're most likely watching Zoey wiggle without even knowing you're about to escape!

Item choices

Everyone wants to have a great early game, but to do this you need the right items to start with.

Building Soul Stone first is something I always get for Conquest. Now that it has been buffed, it's an even better start for Scylla and many other mages as well. When clearing a minion wave, hit the minions five times before using Crush, if you have Sic 'Em, try to root the enemy Mid laner and then Crush the minions along with the Enemy.

Warlock's Sash Warlock's Sash is a safe but powerful item to buy for Scylla. It gives health, mana, and the more stacks you have the stronger everything becomes. Buying this first and gaining stacks as fast as possible will make a great early game aggressor since you won't be as squishy to other gods who try to gank you.

However, if you're not confident with the ability to stay alive before Warlocks, instead of Soul Stone you can buy Vampiric Shroud . Killing the minions will restore health and mana and give you +100 hp for early sustain. You can choose to buy shoes or start warlocks if wanted to. Buying shoes first will give extra movement speed and early power.

Buying Defense items is really only needed if you keep dying to a certain god or are an extremely low lvl compared to the enemy. Depending whether or not that certain god is physical or magical depends on what defense you need to buy. If you die to lets say, a He Bo or Loki, buying the Stone of Fal will protect you from the one shots. You can also get the Breastplate of Valor to protect against Physical gods only, however the Stone of Fal gives both Physical and Magical, so it depends on what you think is better. REMEMBER Defense will lower your power scaling! And the one shot potential might just not be there anymore if you do buy more than one defense or are just a very low lvl. Remember when Scylla says, "I don't wanna wear it!" when you buy defence, you might just want to listen to her and sell it back.

If you wish for more penetration than lifesteal, you can replace Pythagoreans Piece for Spear of Desolation. It will give you more pen, CDR, and 20% penetration.

The book of Thoth is a very powerful item, it does cost less than the Warlock's Sash and gives different buffs, and it's better if you want more damage than health. Since Scylla has a LOT of mana, the passive on this item is great. playing with this item can be risky for newer players who do not know positioning or just how squishy mages are in general, although it's just as good an item.

Now, let's talk about another item. The item Ethereal staff Is a late game item. The way its passive works is perfect for Scylla's ult, mostly because it DOES NOT go on cooldown when you smack down and get a kill, mostly because your Ult did not finish yet, so the passive stays until your ult is over. This means that killing Guardians and Warriors won't be as hard, and the squishies like the enemy mid laner and the ADC will also fall much easier. You want to make sure the passive is up before you use your ult!
If you do not want to stick with this item, you can change it to the Spear of desolation. This passive will work also, and it gives pen, so swapping is not a bad choice.

Summary

I hope you enjoyed the guide! I would love to hear your opinions on items and how you play Scylla, any ideas are great ideas! Please leave a thumbs up or up vote, it does help! Game on!

Aww, thank you for the compliments ^.^. I main Scylla, and when I say that I mean she is the only god I play. No joke.

Sands of time is a starter that I would prefer if you want to stay in lane longer. Ever since they made Scylla's Crush take more mana to use, she can run out quickly! It really depends on what you think.

Yes, I was thinking about updating a lot on this, mostly because I did so much so fast, I didn't have a lot of time to make them very detailed.

I do know that some things here are misspelled, mostly because the text font is hard to read for me and I cannot really tell whether it's an m or an n. I also just called it Aegis for short.

For my item choices, this guide is still in the process of being complete, since I have schooling and daily things in life I have to get done, it will take some time...

(And yes, I just chose the default colors. Sorry for that ^.^,)

In the end this whole guide is an OPINION, I don't want to tell anyone what is the right or wrong way to play Scylla since anything could work as long as you try.

Scylla doesn't NEED a 6th item, cuz she's BADASSSSSSSS.

Really like the guide, Im actually a huge fan of warlocks on scylla, seeing how youre a late game mage anyway and dont lose too much power out of it.

However, I would recommend against defense on scylla in general. Shes a burst mage, if you want someone slightly frontline, then pick an assassin or warrior instead. Only going 4 damage or 5 damage items really hurts her damage in general.

Warlocks is definitely still a good item though.

I agree with you completely, Scylla is not one of those gods I would prefer to buy defense with, but sometimes its either defense or continue to die at a low lvl. The defense is very situational, and even if you buy it as long as you're fed the dmg will still be off the charts. It is definitely the choice of the player however, I can only give opinions ^.^
