Hey all!
Zyborg here.
I am an experienced Smite player who have played Smite since the beta came out. A friend invited me to try it out and so I did. At first it took me a while to fall in love with the game but when some of the major patches removed the bugs and made it into what it is today, I suddenly couldn't stop playing.
Anyhow..
This is my first guide so any feedback is appreciated! It will attempt - and hopefully succeed - to increase your skills when playing Eset. It will give you an idea of how you can build Eset, where you should position yourself in vital moments and how to use her abilities properly and in what situations.
When speaking of abilities, this is exactly the reason I like Eset so much. Used properly they can make her escape almost any fight and make you feel like you're the king of the battlefield (or should I say "goddess"?). Doing so isn't too hard but when you succeed, you are left with a feeling that says "Damn I'm good!". This makes her a both fun and useful character to play.
(Try the "Awesome" voice-command when using her voicepack, it's awesome)
So here is my guide. It's not finished yet, but I hope you like it - updates are coming. If you are about to downvote please consider commenting and tell me what parts I can improve :)

+ Long range, AoE stun + Elusive + AoE Heal + High damage, good scaling + Steals Magic Protection + Slows |
Isis's abilities make her quite elusive. With increased movement speed and a stun she can catch almost any opponent or escape any fight should she want to. She even has a slow that makes it easier to land her other abilities. Her stun can be used through walls and this way you can easily ambush an unaware enemy. On top of that her abilities benefit very well from Magic Power and deal a lot of damage. With her passive she is able to stay on the battlefield longer than most other gods and this even applies to her teammates. Therefore she is an an extremely valuable character on a team. |
|
- Fairly long cooldowns - Weak early game - Ult requires a little luck |
Though her abilities are good they have some quite long cooldowns. This makes her an easy target against other elusive gods that can easily dodge her skillshots and then attack her when they are on cooldown. Also she is not worth much when she has no Magic Power, and can have a hard time when on her own. Therefore, stick with your team early game and save the sneaky stuns for mid/late game. This will also prevent you from dying and make you keep your passive's stacks for when you need them. |
Isis's abilities have the potential to make you rule the battlefield. Her kit contains both AoE stun, slow, silence and even heal:

OBS OBS: Some of the tips may seem trivial but for new and inexperienced players they can be useful - I hope.. ;)
Funeral Rites (passive). Gives you and your team increased health- and manaregeneration. Gains stacks (max 10) whenever a god dies near Isis, friendly or hostile. This makes her extremely useful as a support as she will help her teammates stay in lane. But beware! Stacks reset completely on death! Besides this every third basic attack Isis makes will deal more damage but also take more time to cast. This third basic attack also has the ability to hit three opponents. |
|
Wing Gust (1). Isis fires 4 projectiles in a line that deals damage while being able to move with increased movement speed. This is Isis's primary damage spell. However it is also very useful for escaping. While the ability is active she has no backpedal penalty which means she can fire at enemy gods while making her escape. Another noteworthy thing is that the gusts' damage does not decrease when hitting multiple enemies. This means that hiding gods will still take full damage if you hit them through minions. |
|
Spirit Ball (2). Fires a long range ball that stuns and deals damage in the area in which it is detonated. AoE stun is never a bad thing and it niether is in this case. Due to its long range the Spirit Ball is sometimes able to stun gods through walls or other obstacles. Note that the ball's power increases as it flies, which means that if you are able to predict where your targets will run, you can hit them for an even greater effect! |
|
Dispel Magic (3). Silences and slows all enemies in target location while stealing magic protection from them. Proper use of this ability can save you and your team's life. The silence speaks for itself. So does the slow. The thing to rememeber here is the magic protection steal. These stats are not only given to you, but to the gods affected by Funeral Rites too. |
|
Circle of Protection (ultimate). Creates a huge ring on the ground in which allies take reduced damage. All reduced damage charges up the ring and when the duration runs out (or when Isis chooses) it will pop and damage all enemies inside while healing allies based on how much it was charged. This ability can really turn the tides during a teamfight. Worth noting is that this can actually deal a little bit of damage without being charged, which means you can actually end-hit gods with it. |
|
Fancy Flaps First |
Maxing Isis's abilities is pretty straight forward. Wing Gust is her primary damage spell so maxing this first is almost always profitable. The only situation I have experienced where it's not, is a few times in Arena. Sometimes you play against gods that dodge most of your Wing Gusts and then I tend to put an extra point in Spirit Ball just to increase its damage a little bit (as seen in the Arena skill line). |
Shooting Star Second |
Next up is of course Spirit Ball. Putting points in this simply makes you damage more - and we are going "man-mode" so we want damage. ;) Note that the stun duration does not increase with the level - it's 1 second at all ranks. |
Just like any other god, Isis has counters aswell as gods that she works well with. In the following I have given examples of some of those - gods that Isis synergizes well with and some of those that take advantage of her cons.

So as you have probably realized now, Isis is a character with a lot of possibilities. And as it's a generally known fact that "With great power, comes great responsibility" you will have to consider what items to buy so this "great power" can be used to its full potential. In the following I have given examples of how I build Isis, thereby not saying this is the only right way. Each item has a quick description where I describe things like what stats/auras it gives, when it comes in handy and why I prefer it above something else. |
The Polynomicon gives you tons of damage, lifesteal on your abilities, aswell as extra mana to cast them. This item will quickly make your enemies fear you and is a "must have" for the offensive Isis. The lifesteal synergizes well with your passive, and the passive effect granted from this item can almost always be landed after stunning the enemy with Spirit Ball. |
Next up is Shoes of the Magi. These shoes will make sure you maintain your "elusiveness" and give you Magic Penetration to increase damage. The penetration granted from these boots not only works with your abilities but also increases the damage your amplified basic attacks inflict, and this counts for both those amplified by Funeral Rites and those by Polynomicon. |
The Gem of Isolation gives health, mana and Magic Power aswell as slowing down your opponents when your damage spells hit. This item is very popular among mages but it's not just "good" on Isis, it's "perfect". What makes it so strong on Isis is the slow- effect. With that, she is able to kite opponents for ages because it synergizes very well with the increased movement from her Wing Gust. Completely without items Eset is actually ridiculously squishy. She begins the game with more than 100 health less than Chronos and she even has less health than Ra throughout the entire game (without items of course). Therefore the health is just a nice little bonus and will make you keep your stacks on Funeral Rites. |
The Obsidian Shard gives magical power and percentage based magic penetraion. About this time enemies will have realized that you are a killing machine and will try to protect themselves with Magic Protection. However that won't work if you get Obsidian Shard. It actually scales poorly with Isis' Dispel Magic which is explained why in the dropdown menu below, but despite that, some penetration is still needed. |
The Rod of Tahuti gives huge amounts of Magic Power aswell as some MP5. They could without regrets renamne this item to "Rod of Mages". No, but seriously... Need I say more. When you finish your Rod of Tahuti you will be able to see a huge jump in your damage, especially with the Obsidian Shard also done. You will go from roughly 250 Magic Power to almost 500. |
Since the remake of the Actives people have begun buying them more frequently, including myself. There are lots of options, but I tend to come back to three in particular when playing Eset:
blink | The Blink active is just in general a good active. As Greater Blink it has very low cooldown and you can use it almost immediately after exiting combat - however, not while in combat. This makes it good both for initiating and for escaping pursuers. On Isis I mostly use it to position myself so I can place a good stun, but sometimes it is also good for chasing a target if Wing Gust is out of range. |
Shell | Either of the shell upgrades are good on Isis. Whether you choose to get Spiked Shell or Shell of Absorption your choice will almost always aid you in battle. It gives the caster aswell as his team a bonus to protections aswell as either reflect or reduce damage by a percentage. These effects combined with Circle Of Protection can either create a huge burst-damage combo or make your team invincible for the duration. |

Sum Up
Being able to set up kills and help her team Isis is invaluable on the on the battlefield.
It's corrected now. Thanks mate! :) +rep

So apparently, my free photobucket account has run out of bandwidth? Does anybody know how to overcome this picture problem without having to pay for photo services?
Thanks in advance :)
Thank you for taking time to write such a comprehensive comment!
Concerning the penetration items I actually thought penetration in SMITE was additive. With this new knowledge in mind I will defenitely test out new stuff, and perhaps change the build in the future.
About the polynomicon, I had thought about what you said myself. But I continuously end up with positive results when getting it early. On rank two, Enchanted Trinket, it will grant you both magical power, mana and magical lifesteal. This is enough sustain to outlane almost any opponent if you position yourself right (avoid AoE's, dodge skillshots etc). On rank 3 it will make your harrasment after landing a stun so strong that your opponent will have to back away from creeps which leads to you leading in farm, aswell as granting you the control of mid-camps and open up the potential to gank other lanes.
So even though its passive will only proc for about 125 extra damage (see pic.) the sustain given from the mana- and magical lifesteal stat often will make you dominate your lane.
About the Pythagorem's Piece you must bear in mind that it is only in the build recommended for arena, in which it is more common to have more that one mage.
And yes, I do mention many a time that Isis has long cooldowns. I was considering putting the Breastplate of Valor in a "situational picks"-section and after testing it out more, I am sure it will end up there soon.
About the Chronos' Pendant, I have almost only had bad results when getting it... I have no idea why, it's messed up :(
I will try putting it in the build instead of one of the penetration items, as a result of what you taught me about penetration.
There a couple of problems with the build.
I don't believe Polynomicon, as a first item, is a good choice. Since it scales according to your magical power exclusively, its passive won't yield such benefits. If it's your first item, the proc is gonna grant you roughly 100 extra damage on your auto attack. That isn't so useful as other items early on.
You've mentioned many times that Isis has very long cooldowns. So why not invest in some CDR? don't get me wrong, 99% of the times, get Shoes of the Magi. Flat penetration is the best kind of pen on Isis and the game lacks those kind of items, like I've said before. But what about items like Chronos' Pendant or Breastplate of Valor?
I dislike the choice of Ethereal Staff. I myself have a rule about this item: Only if you build warlock's sash, you should consider this item. Otherwise, go with a protection item like Breastplate of Valor or Void Stone.
Pythagorem's Piece is somewhat an underpowered item. It does cope well with your passive, but rarely will you find yourself in a team with more than 1 mage, aside from yourself. Bancroft's Talon is a much better choice.
I also don't know how I feel about Rod of Asclepius. Yes, she does have a heal, but it isn't so common and effective to actually build this item. True, when coupled with Pythagorem's Piece and your passive, it could be viable, but even then, I've already said why the former is not such a viable choice, and the latter isn't that effective. The maximum your passive could get is 20 HP5. The additional effect of rod of asclpius makes it 23 HP5. And HP5 isn't such a good stat in the later levels.
Active items could use an expansion: Purification Beads and Aegis Pendant.
You do explain items well. Though, the reason to buy Gem of Isolation is not the health. Sure, it helps, but you buy this item for the slow. On Isis, it's wonderful because you can kite enemies for days with Wing Gust, which you can also aim, unlike something like Whirlpool. So you can easily apply it to multiple enemies. Other than that, not much to say.
The skill section is flawless. Nothing else to say, it's perfect.
Team fight is a bit lacking. Maybe more notes about positioning, placement of Circle Of Protection etc. Can't really give you more ideas, as I don't know anything about Isis.
A sub-section about farming and laning would be nice. How to clear waves, mid-camps, and how you can steal them with Spirit Ball through the wall, etc.
The guide itself looks very appealing. It's great, aesthetics-wise.
Since it's W.I.P, I won't vote. I see great potential in this guide, but you need to work on it more. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope my advice helped.
P.M me when you have finished this guide so that I could vote.
Thank you guys so much for your comments! I will definitely PM you when it's done, however the next few weeks will very hectic for me so it may progress slowly..
No offense.
