Heavy Glaive's only purpose is for jungle camp clearing, as you are not going into meele range just for the extra damage. Remember your passive when clearing camps.
| |
Shifter of Seasons is Cernunnos' bread and butter. It provides everything any hunter wants: built-in lifesteal, extra damage, protection reduction and slow effects. While it's important to know when to switch from season to season (and to do it quickly), you can stay all game on Summer Heat without many problems, if you find it difficult to manage at first.
The ideal uses of each season would be:
Don't forget that this ability has no cooldown or mana cost, so use it freely.
Level this ability second after you get Bramble to level 4. This way, you get that extra nice wave-clear and then proceeds to level your main damaging tool - your AAs. | |
Bramble Blast deals decent amounts of damage to both gods and minions trought all game, while rooting the first enemy hit. This is also your setup for your ultimate and your autos, and your main wave-clearing tool. Don't forget that this ability no longer slows as of patch 4.5.
Level this ability first until you it hits level 4. Because, as I said above, you get more wave-clear early, and then proceed to level Shifter of Seasons for boxing purposes. | |
Horn Charge is your escape and engage tool if you want, as it does decent damage and can be easily canceled by yourself. It's also very quick and kinda long, but remember that it is a dash, not a leap, so you can't pass by player-made or terrain walls.
Level this ability last because you only get more damage, cost and lower cooldown. And while the lower cd can help you in any situation, it doesn't make up for the extra damage of Bramble Blast or the extra effects of Shifter of Seasons. | |
The Wild Hunt is one of the best teamfight ultimates of the game, dealing good damage, and CCing (It's a silence + disarm) all gods on its radius. You should use this to engage, disengage, and to kill fleeing targets with low health. This ability is also not affected by diminishing returns, so the polymorph will ALWAYS, no matter what, lasts for a solid 2s.
Level this ability third because you only get +50 damage per level and more mana cost, and this trade isn't good enough if you compare to the benefits of leveling Bramble Blast and Shifter of Seasons. |
Starter Here, what you will buy depends on your role and preference. If you're playing on the ADC role, then buy either Death's Toll (DT) or Bluestone Pendant (BP), along with Boots and 3 potions of each. However, if you're going to play on the jungle role, then buy Bumba's Mask and either DT or BP, along with Boots and 2 potions of each. |

ONLY BUY IF PLAYING JUNGLE
Bumba's Mask is a must-buy for any jungler, not only because it helps to clear jungle camps, but mainly because it gives you insane sustain on the jungle, delaying your recalls. P.S.: If you didn't know, you are going to sell this late-game for a 6th item. | |
ALWAYS BUY THIS OR Death's Toll, ALONG WITH BUMBA'S IF JUNGLING
Bluestone Pendant does not give you sustain like Death's Toll does but it lets you clear waves and camps better with Bramble Blast. Also better if you are going for an ability-based/mixed building route or if you want the extra damage. Better on jungle than ADC role, though. P.S.: If you didn't know, you are going to sell this late-game for a 6th item. | |
ALWAYS BUY THIS OR Bluestone Pendant, ALONG WITH BUMBA'S IF JUNGLING
Death's Toll, combined with Spring Growth, gives you excellent sustain early game. Buy this if you prefer the safe and more present sustain of Death's Toll over the better clear and aggression of Bluestone Pendant. P.S.: If you didn't know, you are going to sell this late-game for a 6th item. |
Item #1 |

Warrior Tabi is my preferred choice here because Cernunnos has good scalings even at lower levels. Is also better if you are going for an ability-based/mixed building route.
This item can be traded for Ninja Tabi late game if you want to increase your AA DPS. It's not a must, though. | |
Ninja Tabi provides less wave-clear power for you early game, but can still be better than Warrior Tabi in some niche situations. Really, it's a matter of preference.
|
Item #2 |

The Crusher isn't recommended to be built on most hunters, but Cernunnos makes great use of all its stats: Power, AS, Pen, and the "Fake CDR". It's a good choice that should always be considered, mainly when you want a more ablity-focused build.
| |
Ichaival provides a lot for such a low price. However, it isn't useful after the early game and should be traded after. Should be considered if you want a better early game (Such as when you're fighting an early game god/comp), or a more AA-focused build, AND if you're facing a mostly physical comp. Works better on the ADC role.
This item must be sold and then replaced late-game so that you don't lose on damage compared to the enemy team. A list of possible replacers includes: - The Crusher; - Brawler's Beat Stick; - Bloodforge; -Etc. | |
Silverbranch Bow provides a lot for such a low price. However, it isn't useful after the early game and should be traded after. Should be considered if you want a better early game (Such as when you're fighting an early game god/comp), or a more AA-focused build, AND if you're facing a mostly magical comp. Works better on the ADC role.

Items #3 and #4 |

Qin's Sais is one of the best items in the game when talking about power spikes. It, along with some AS and penetration, gives you insane amounts of damage against tanks and still helps a little with those pesky squishes. A must-buy if you are going for this route.
| |
Hastened Fatalis may hurt your power curve by a little bit, but that's not much of a problem for Cernunnos. Why? Because of Summer Heat's built-in extra power and because it synergizes so well with Winter Chill (The famous "Frostalis", but without Frostbound Hammer). It also helps you to stick with your target (even more if you are bad at hitting autos). I usually buy it after Qin's, though, because, as mentioned above, it gives you a huge power spike - and fatalis doesn't.
|
Item #5 |
---|
The Executioner gives you important stats that will help you no matter what you are building, while it helps more on an AA-based building route. This also stacks with Autumn Decay and synergizes well with Qin's Sais. So yeah, not too many reasons to NOT build it. Works better against squishy teams. Doesn't proc against structures.
| |
Titan's Bane is a penetration item like The Executioner, but that works depending on the enemy's protection (the more they have, the more you will penetrate). Also works against structures (good for split-pushing) and is better if you are going for a more ability-based/mixed building route, or if you are facing a tanky enemy team.
|
Item #6 |
---|
Brawler's Beat Stick is meant to counter healing comps, and still has good stats. There's not too much to discuss here, just buy it if you need to. Works better with ability-based/mixed building routes.
| |
Bloodforge isn't recommended for most hunters, as it isn't a cheap item by any means and many hunters can benefit more from something else. However, our boy Cernunnos already has a lot so that we can delay lifesteal (or ignore it completely) this much. This item helps a lot in teamfights and is meant to get those double, triple, quadra and penta kills. Also provides a lot of power. If you want all those things, then just buy it. No regrets.

Wind Demon
|
Wind Demon has everything you want on a crit item: Power, AS, and Crit chance, along with more AS and some MS. Really, there's no reason not to buy it if you choose to go for the crit build. Also synergizes well with Hastened Fatalis.

Item #6 |

Deathbringer is the ultimate crit item, as it simply lets them be even more deadly. This item, along with Wind Demon, will let you 3-shot squishies late game. A must-buy for this build.
|
Aegis Amulet is the classic relic for squishy gods. It will save your life here and there and sometimes just delay your death.
| |
Purification Beads lets you escape almost any CC and should be picked if you often see yourself on those situations that you get CC-Chained to death and can't do anything else. Remember that using Horn Charge after activating it is ideal for escaping.
| |
Sundering Spear is an aggressive relic that can be bought when you are ahead or in balanced games. It makes you able to kill an enemy much faster and helps your entire team in the process. However, it is a somewhat difficult skillshot. It's also nice to combo it with Bramble Blast.

Hirez wants to promote Atalanta's Bow as a replacement for Hastened Fatalis, but it's a terrible item (don't buy it).
Frostbound Hammer is also not a good alternative to it because it doesn't offer stats that a hunter usually wants, plus it's now nerfed for ranged gods, so it's also not a good option.
Good replacement options:
As you saw, there's really not a definitive replacement for fatalis (at least for now - maybe Atalanta's will get big buffs), but I think I answered your question.
DISCLAIMER: That guide wasn't updated for a while, there are new items in ADC builds now ( Shifter's Shield, Rage, Witchblade, Toxic Blade, plus the Qin's Sais (non-crit) build rote is now much more popular).
I hope you liked the guide :)
Don't worry, I will upload the matchup section when I update this guide to 4.8.
About the Fatalis change, it's still a good item but that shouldn't be built as early as we are used to. It should be considered as a luxury item now (5th, 6th slot), imo of course.
Very well done so far. Looks like you're fine-tuning your guide style. I'll comment as I read through it.
Regarding The Executioner or Titan's Bane as core, it totally depends on the matchup, I think. If you're facing a lot of tanky gods (and check what people are building), getting it a bit earlier than 6th could be good. If you're facing mostly squishies, and say for example you're doing a crit build, between The Crusher or Ichaival combined with Hastened Fatalis will tide you over on the pen side so you can finish Wind Demon and Deathbringer first.
When I was writing that sentence ("specifically you"), it sounded weird to the extent that I was speaking in a general "you." I wrote it the way I did because I know you've got the build knowledge, and figured you definitely would prefer to make it known that those items are basically core. I don't know if that explained anything, or if I talked myself in circles. Screw it.
Hmmm...I guess The Crusher may not be a bad solid #2 slotted item for a Jungler. He seems like an early aggressor, and the decent price, combined with power, flat pen, and the passive seems like it might be okay there.
You know, you don't HAVE to make a matchups section if you don't want to...it's your guide, you do what you want with it.
While I know that I don't HAVE to make that section, I feel that I must do it so that this guide follows the same overall design of my other ones. I don't really hate doing it, I'm just too lazy to start it (bc then I'm able of finishing it quickly), as I think of listing every god in their role, saying something, explaining his combo and how to ruin it, ya know. But I always become pride of the final result after this.
Btw, did you upvoted me? :3

#4C3422 and #802800 (My approximations, I don't know the exact values of what you're using.) are dark colors for text. Try using a lighter, sore saturated orange:
The other thing, don't forget to include a small bit telling people not to build The Executioner with Titan's Bane. Shredding and % Pen don't mix.
Lol, I could have explained it better. It was meant to be something like "It will save your life here and there and sometimes just delay your death."
I also predicted that you would complain about the colors, lol. But are you talking about the colors of Summer Heat and Autumn Decay or of the overall tables and etc?
Yeah, I forgot to add this tiny detail about Titan's Bane and The Executioner.
Other than that, what do you think of the guide?
I'm talking about the color of Autumn Decay, and the dark part of the Pros/Cons.
Dark (to a point) colors are fine for filling in areas and marking borders, but dark text is hard to read on SF.
9/10
It's not as good as your other two, but that's just because this one's new.
Ew gross, I just rhymed.
This guide doesn't even have a matchups section yet, so it's understandable why it isn't as good as the others. I'm still thinking how I should make that.
All grammar corrected, I will do the Executioner and color things soon.
That was fast.
