WARNING: SEASON 3 HAS DROPPED ON PC. This means I'll be slowly adding a new build and information explaining it as I test out item combinations. The items in the new Season 3 build are likely to change as I experiment and the explanation of the build is likely going to take a while to get done as the build changes. In case you want to follow my train of thought as I work out the new build, here are some notes:
Like every god, Sun Wukong has his ups and downs. Understanding these is important to understanding how the items in this build highlight his strengths and compensate for his weaknesses.

Ok so I've decided to put the explanations for the Season 2 build items into a spoiler so that when I start explaining the Season 3 build, the guide won't be miles long.
It is always important to change up and customize your build to counter whichever god you are playing against. Since, in most game modes, the enemy team will have a combination of magical and physical characters, this build will normally cover all your bases and keep you alive against whatever combination your enemy throws at you. But League Joust is an entirely different animal. League Joust pits you against one god and one god only, letting you and your opponent fight to the death in an epic duel. It is vital that you change your build based on what type of damage they do as well as what protections they are building.
Luckily this isn't too difficult to do by switching around the items I've listed above.
If you are against a magical character, such as a guardian or mage, simply replacing the Hide of the Urchin with the Stone of Gaia should be sufficient to keep you alive. I would recommend keeping the other items that give you physical protection since the minions, towers, phoenixes, and titan all do physical damage, and you may find yourself in a situation where you want to tower dive to take down the tower or the god cowering under it.
If you are against a physical character, such as an assassin, hunter, or warrior, replacing the Hide of the Urchin with the Hide of the Nemean Lion or Mystical Mail will remove the unnecessary magical protections on the Hide of the Urcin and replace them with big physical protections. Which chestplate you pick is really personal preference. I would recommend that you pick up the Hide of the Nemean Lion when against hunters, since they mostly rely on their basic attacks to kill, and get the Mystical Mail when against a warrior or assassin since they tend to use more abilities for killing, although it is really up to you to decide which would help you more since each god is different and a different chestplate might work better in different situations.
Lastly, when it comes to countering the protections your enemy is building, you don't have much work to do. Since most gods will build physical protections against you (because you're a physical character) the penetration in Jotunn's Wrath and [Titan's Bane]] should be enough to get through. If not, you can sacrifice the extra mana of Jotunn's Wrath for the increased penetration of the Brawler's Beat Stick.
And now onto how you should play Sun Wukong with this build throughout the different phases of the game.
Many people underestimate Sun Wukong, not giving him the attention he deserves. He is a great god that can be a bully in lane and a nuisance in team fights if used properly.
This build is one I haven't seen before since I basically pulled in different ideas from different guides and sources to put this together to create what I believe to be the perfect Sun Wukong guide.
I'm sure people will disagree but I just wanted to put this out to let people try out a new build for Sun Wukong and see if they have as much success as I have with him. I would love to see more people play him and I hope I helped convince you guys that he shouldn't be benched so quickly.
Thanks for reading!
